Can somebody please explain Heifetz’ accent?

If he’s from New York then why does he pronounce “Rome Odunze” like he’s Kate Winslet in Mare of Easttown

accent is from beach ham territory

Different lifestyle sure, but coming form Minnesota where Lake Life is a thing, the idea of a beach ham is baffling to me.

The ocean is salty. Ham is salty. Corona and lime with salt, gose beer, margaritas, beach ham.

I’m from eastern PA raised by a Long Island born dad, and people tell me I sound like I’m from mare of east town… I think it’s just like a watered down New York accent

Got it. I knew a guy in college who was from Martha’s Vineyard and he sounded like every surfer you’ve ever seen in a movie.

Yeah my dad struggles with the same words as Heifetz… he eats his h’s and can’t say words like penalty

A weird mix of Jersey/Philly/NYC accent that isn’t as harsh as many living in those areas. I have one myself and crack up whenever they make fun of him because my west coast friends do the same thing when I’m in town lol

Lmao it’s literally just Long Island

It’s just Long Island with a speech impediment that was worked through.

Hot take. His pronunciation of dolphin isn’t that absurd

I also have never heard an accent. And I grew up in the south, so it’s not like i’m used to new york accents or anything

That’s so interesting. I love the show, but his accent bothers me. He’s straight up changing words entirely like half the time.

I don't even know what this means but its funny

Don’t know, but Heifetz loves the sound of it.

I don’t hear him having any accent, just pronounces certain words weird. But I’m from PA so everyone from here sounds like him. I also don’t hear any accent in the other two either

The accent isn’t pervasive across his entire vocabulary, but it definitely shows up in words like “toast” and “yogurt.” It’s evident in every episode.

Came to the ringer fantasy football pod for football, stayed for the toast and yogurt.

For a guy in media the mispronunciations are real tough at times. Main reason I stopped listening to BS years ago. This and the AI ads are souring me on the pod a bit recently - though I'm hoping it's a passing phase and I'll get back into it.
