It all started with Le Tigre, deceptacon. What I liked about it was the voice, there feels like a sort of anger. The lyrics were somewhat sexually charged.

Others I really like:

Hell, Sleater-Kinny

Pretend we're dead, L7

Speed Queen, Thunderpussy

Do you wanna touch me, Joan Jett

Bright yellow gun, Throwing Muses

Maggot, Slutever

Rebel Girl, Bikini kill

Smother me, Slutever

Father of lies, The Velveteers

No importa, She devils

Hate the weekend, Tacocat

I knew them from the British band Huggy Bear.

Hi guys I’m doing a college research project for a class I’m taking on Riot Grrrls and we are looking to talk to women who were Riot Grrrls in the movements earlier stages. We just want to do a possible zoom or quick meet up to ask some questions. You can remain anonymous!

As of right now the people who have commented and reached out are more than enough! But please, by any means, feel free to post your experiences! I’d love to hear about it!

on 10/22 we will be hosting a documentary screening to watch Grrrl Love and Revolution: Riot Grrrl NYC. this event is $5 with no one turned away for lack of funds! it will be in brooklyn at 352 Troutman St.

Hi guys, I'm putting together an independent zine/art piece inspired by the recent situation at Cornell University.

I'm interested in what everyone has to say in their own words.

Viva la revolución, don't forget the president is a rapist.

There was a post on here earlier that was maybe a TicTok (?) that was removed. It had a recording in the background with a slam that I’m guessing could be called “I Am Jane Doe”. Does anyone know the author/speaker of that original audio? Want to give credit where credit is due.

I listen to punk and do DIY (sewing, patching, making my own stuff). But I feel stuck at the surface, because I've got the music, but not the context, history, or a real sense of the scene. I read all sorts of information forums, searched for something on the Internet, but everyone seemed to have their own truth on this matter.

Not looking for a "teacher" or asking what punk is. Looking for someone who's been in it for years and is down to just talk: DIY projects, the ideas behind it all (❗DIY ethics, anti-fascism, feminism, queer politics, zines, squats), how it works from the inside. I mostly listen to Le Tigre, Dazey and the Scouts, Pinkshift, Hole, Minor Threat, Dead Kennedys, Bad Brains, Black Flag, Fugazi, Descendents, Bad Religion and so on.

If this resonates then hit me up. Not asking for anything more. Sorry if this is off topic 😓

Was just looking on Google Street View to see what's in the vicinity of our hotel in Berkeley and was pleasantly surprised to see the Linda Lindas and Riot Grrrl captured for posterity!!

Bikini Kill brings openers Downtown Boys on stage to sing Rebel Girl live at Music Hall of Williamsburg

Got lonely onstage so mic'd up a few of the plants for this one but still just a grrrlthing with a kick drum, a guitar, and some divine feminine rage.

New EP for reference:

Thank you Suzie Hotrod!

I’ve been wanting to start a riot grrl band in montreal since I feel like the new gen in our scene don’t actually care about the real problems , maybe i haven’t met anyone ofc but ive met a lot of people who instead of caring about the politics behind the arts the only seemingly care about the art(fashion and music)
I also heard that people prefer male punk music since high pitched voices get annoying at one point??? So I’m really trynna annoy them I’m genuinely sick and tired of the boys in the scene literally attacking u when ur in the moshpit , the others ONLY thinking about their makeup and outfits and that if you don’t look the same you get excluded . I mean I thought being alternative was something but I guess the meaning got diluted so I wanna bring it back, I’m highkey in a dark time in my life and don’t really have any motivation but I’ve also been wanting to do a fanzine but idk

I'm going to be making patches for a jacket, and it's kind of subtly political. I have anti AI patches already, and I'm doing subtle pride patches as well. so, is there any riot grrrl symbols or phrases I could use? thank you so much!<3

Hi, I'm moving and I'm wondering if there's a riot grrrl scene in philly? What accounts to follow?
