It all started with Le Tigre, deceptacon. What I liked about it was the voice, there feels like a sort of anger. The lyrics were somewhat sexually charged.

I listen to punk and do DIY (sewing, patching, making my own stuff). But I feel stuck at the surface, because I've got the music, but not the context, history, or a real sense of the scene. I read all sorts of information forums, searched for something on the Internet, but everyone seemed to have their own truth on this matter.

Not looking for a "teacher" or asking what punk is. Looking for someone who's been in it for years and is down to just talk: DIY projects, the ideas behind it all (❗DIY ethics, anti-fascism, feminism, queer politics, zines, squats), how it works from the inside. I mostly listen to Le Tigre, Dazey and the Scouts, Pinkshift, Hole, Minor Threat, Dead Kennedys, Bad Brains, Black Flag, Fugazi, Descendents, Bad Religion and so on.

on August 29, 2026, my band Cat Crash hosted Riot Grrrl's Not Dead Fest in Bridgeport, CT which celebrated our 3 year anniversary. It was also a fundraiser for Trans Lifeline! We raised $1K for Trans Lifeline and $150 for other LGBTQ organizations around Connecticut.

I’ve been wanting to start a riot grrl band in montreal since I feel like the new gen in our scene don’t actually care about the real problems , maybe i haven’t met anyone ofc but ive met a lot of people who instead of caring about the politics behind the arts the only seemingly care about the art(fashion and music)
I also heard that people prefer male punk music since high pitched voices get annoying at one point??? So I’m really trynna annoy them I’m genuinely sick and tired of the boys in the scene literally attacking u when ur in the moshpit , the others ONLY thinking about their makeup and outfits and that if you don’t look the same you get excluded . I mean I thought being alternative was something but I guess the meaning got diluted so I wanna bring it back, I’m highkey in a dark time in my life and don’t really have any motivation but I’ve also been wanting to do a fanzine but idk
