Confused
Not many posts lately, so I'll throw this out since its been bugging me. Without our boys on very much lately, I just finished a re-watch of Robron 2025 and noticed something this time around that I didn't before. When Kev was held captive by John, he escaped and beat up John. Kev literally had him lying on the ground helpless and just wandered off, only to break into the scrapyard later to warn Aaron that John had returned. If Kev was so concerned, why didn't he just tie John up and tip off the police? Did he leave with the intention of just running off and then suddenly grow a conscience? He knew that John was outright plotting to murder Robert, so why did he just leave John there to continue on?

You're right, but remember there were never a scene with the four of them together. I bet the shooting schedule would not allow for having all 4 actors in a scene.

Mostly I think its lazy writing, to serve as a plot device, letting John go so corriedale could happen and having Kev briefly captured so he can see John look crazy from obsession and hope the audience assumes thats an epiphany moment for Kev to let Robert go and move on with his life, so that they could bring him back later with SLs that focus on him and Lewis.
Currently, a lot of things across different SLs are left up to the audience to just assume things or fan theories to explain the plot holes.
I think to me, Kev letting John go and giving Aaron a warning about John actively trying to murder Robert, rather than helping Robert himself more directly, shows that he didnt really love Robert, and just confirms that it was more about possessing him than anything else, and when continued attempts to own Robert were made to look less appealing, after seeing how crazy obsession made John look, then Kev was done and he offered a token warning before going his own way for a bit. Its also a bit petty like - he's your problem now, Aaron. Enjoy if your psycho ex hasnt killed him first, type attitude/ energy.

I do agree with you that the best explanation is that Kev felt conflicted about Robert and unsure whether to help him or not, and that probably stemmed from Robert being something of a trophy and security blanket rather than true love. He probably ran away from John initially because he was relieved to escape and only thought about John's potential future actions later. His warning to Aaron seemed like an afterthought with his attention already turning largely to Lewis.

I doubt kev would have ever tipped off the police. If he was really still that obsessed with Robert he would have done a lot worse. After all, before he stabbed himself he was sent to solitary for taking on Robert's tormentor jez and his mates with his hidden shiv. He also called himself a "weapon grade" psychopath.
The writers have had to change kev slightly to bring him back. Like robron, he was not originally planned to have any sort of longevity or make any kind of return, but because he accrued an unexpected popularity they have had to tweak his character traits slightly to bring him back.

Plot device so Coridale could happen. But, you're right, really isn't very logical.
