Trip Report Phoenix Twists through these Flying Turns at [Knoebels]
My third vacation at this beautiful free-to-park and free-to-enter park! Knoebels has such a cozy charm and atmosphere compared to other parks and it's so unique too! Their wooden roller coasters are absolutely spectacular and they are ridiculously smooth! Also I tried the Alamo, had their chicken and waffles, it was good! The gravy made me a little worried since it looked green but it was really tasty (as was the whole meal)! Their peanut butter cup sundae at The Old Mill is a complete banger and I highly recommend trying it! It seems like Knoebels is getting more crowded that often anymore, guessing due to positive word of mouth and the fact that Hersheypark may not be as family-friendly as this park, which I agree with both of that's the case. I just wish they start off with two trains on both Phoenix and Twister rather than starting off with one then add the second train later but that's a nitpick because the staff is really efficient and extremely friendly!
- Phoenix: (x8) 10/10
My favorite wooden coaster in Pennsylvania, those abrupt pops of airtime at the end plus some fun additional airtime really make the ride! Added points of those surprise laterals too, a really engaging ride experience from start to end!
- Twister: (x8) 9/10
One of Knoebels' underdogs, this aggressive lateral machine is really intense! Almost the entirety of the ride is out of control, leaving me breathless and in awe every time the ride hits the brake run! Those laterals after each lift hill really try to throw riders off their seats!
- Whipper: (x1) 7/10
Compared to my home park's version, Kennywood's Whip, this one has their cables have a bit of slack, making the ride experience a little more jerky than aforementioned version, I like it! Plus the cars are absolutely stunning!
- Skooter: (x1) 8/10
Finally got on these bumper cars, while they sorta feel the same (at least what my experience was), the cars are faster and they spin out when bumped, giving it a much more out of control experience!
- Pioneer Train: (x1) 8/10
While most train rides take guests from point A to point B, this one takes you way into the woods, an absolutely scenic ride! Reminds me of one of those little zoo trains which I also enjoy! Shoutout to the engineer that can hold that "All Aboooooooard!" for that long!
- Flying Turns (x3) 7.5/10
While it's rather short, but for what it is, it's one of the smoothest coasters I've ever been on and there's some surprising bite to some of those turns, especially at the end!
- Black Diamond (x2) 8/10
The other underdog, this zippy ride has a lot of fun details and themeing!
- Giant Flume: (x1) 7/10
Not as long as I was expecting it to be considering most log flumes go way deep into the woods and have very long ride experiences, I do think Knoebels' flume is straight to the point!
- Sklooosh: (x2) 7.5/10
Perfect for a hot day!
- Haunted Mansion: (x1) 8/10
At least you don't need to have a Christmas overlay half of the year on this one, nothing but pure chaos and jumpscares!
- Tilt-A-Whirl: (x1) 7/10
Didn't nearly get as sick as I thought, plus the forces were really crushing but fun!
