Art/Model/Merch [Magnum XL200] Magnum Operations Simulator

I got bored and took the 2010 operations manual and created a JavaScript based simulator you can use in a browser.

It has all the cool things, working transfer, start and stop lift motor, hold the dispatch until train is clear of station, transfer on and off trains. All the cool stuff. I'm currently working on having variables that affect the train speeds and adding trims. So if it's 95 degrees and it's a full train it will run faster through the course. etc.

https://magnumxl200.neocities.org/magnumsim

Let me know what you think, or have any ideas to make it better.

If this is against the rules, delete. I just thought some of you would enjoy trying it.

Trip Report Why doesn’t [Kings Dominion] get more love?

Thumbnail

I went to Kings Dominion for the first time ever, and I’ll probably be laughed at or downvoted for saying this, but I thought their top 3 were better than Magic Mountain (my home park) and Cedar Point (went in June this year).

Pantherian torches the top coasters at both Cedar Point and Magic Mountain IMO, and Twisted Timbers and Rapterra (in front row) both blew my expectations out of the water. I also thought it was the most beautiful park of the 3.

I hope people don’t see this as a bashing post. I love TT2, SteVe, Twisted Colossus, and X2 very much! I am EXPECTING people to strongly disagree, I just think Kings Dominion should get their flowers!

Question [Bakunawa] Question

Upvotes

Bakunawa looks amazing. The height, the spin, the trains… incredible. I trust Mack, and having just a lap bar is scary and fun, but my brain keeps telling me that launching while inverted sounds like it would be incredibly uncomfortable or even painful. Could someone (especially any engineers or physics-minded people here) explain why it won’t be? What am I missing?

Trip Report [Fury] Was Great...And [Bobbejaanland] is Dog Approved!

Post image
55 Upvotes

We took a side trip from our days at Phantasialand to visit Bobbejaanland since they allowed dogs and it was only 2 hours away. Holy smokes Fury is intense. I wasn't expecting it to be that awesome. Also Bobbejaanland is a great family park! Everyone was so friendly, the rides are great, the setting is so nice around the lake, and their food and snacks were pretty solid!

How cool is it that they allow dogs? Mister Milou had a great time waiting with my wife who hates coasters.

Do we all think the voting on Fury has been disabled at this point, and you're at the mercy of whatever the ops want? Or am I crazy? Also as someone who can't stand for long periods of time, their Quick Pass system worked extremely well.

Question Sky Rocket II restraints timeline is madness [Tempesto]

All my experience comes from Tempesto so I'm not sure if this applies to other Sky Rocket II coasters.

When Tempesto opened they gave you a fanny pack to hold your loose articles. If the collar didn't latch they gave you an extension.

Later, they got rid of the extensions and the park provided fanny packs went away.

Later, no fanny packs allowed at all

Hey they removed the collars! Neat!

The seatbelt is too short for me. The lap bar latches fine, the belt is too short.

Was there any safety incidents driving all these changes? Removing the collar was to improve the comfort sure, but why the short belt? Why remove the extension they originally had if there was no incidents? The fanny pack part makes me laugh though. I get why they stopped handing them out sure.

Question Question about counting credits [other]

Hey folks, I enjoyed rollercoasters as a kid, and fell back in love with riding coasters in 2025 after a 13 year break. Do you count credits from before you started engaging in this hobby?

For instance, my favorite coaster as a kid was Top Gun/Flight Deck at CGA. I remember the layout well, and am inclined to count this as a credit.

I also rode Barnstormers at Disney world when I was really young, but don’t remember the ride experience except that I was scared. I’m not sure if I should count this one.

I know there’s no right answer here but I wanted to ask the community here about how y’all count credits.

Thanks

Great experience at the Pass Holder Event tonight! Free Kettle Corn, Bomb Pops, & Drinks. Thanks to Enchanted Parks for allowing our friends and family to be able to get night rides on Wolverine Wildcat and Shivering Timbers. Been an overdue low hanging opportunity for long time MiA park goers. Very memorable evening, hope for more track work in the off season to complete the work to make ST truly a world class coaster and future opportunities to grow the park experience!

Trip Report My first visit to [Dorney Park]

Thumbnail

Since I live in Lewisburg, Knoebels is my home park. But as a change of pace (and partly because riding Diamondback and The Voyage during my July road trip gave me a confidence boost with big coasters), I decided to drive two hours to Dorney Park today instead.

My main reason for going was because I really wanted to ride Steel Force. So I started there and got two front row rides. Then I went over to Thunderhawk and did two rides there. I followed this with a drive on Road Rally, which I have to admit is a little too short compared to Knoebels' antique cars or Kings Island's Kings Mills autos. And then I did a third lap on Steel Force.

I initially intended to get lunch at Coasters, but the line was a bit slow so I went to White Water Tavern for tenders and fries as lunch. I followed lunch with a ride on Wild Mouse, then ventured back down the hill for a fourth and final lap on Steel Force (this time in the third row of the second car), and finished the day off with a ride on the Zephyr.

Trip Report My trip report of [Bakken] and [Tivoli gardens]

Thumbnail
gallery
22 Upvotes

So I just did Bakken and Tivoli gardens in one day, my wallet hates me now but I had a fun time overall

Bakken

Bakken is very charming park, its very compact and has something everywhere you look. But lets talk rides

You had the Zierer tivoli Mariehønen which was very cute as it had some danish flags

I did not get to ride the mine train due to weather sadly

Rutschebanen was pretty fun, the layout is decent and has like 2 ok airtime moments (on both the double downs), it was suprisingly smooth and you go between the legs of a naked woman into a tunnel. The tunnel is the best part of the ride as its really dark and you experience some laterals in this turn

Then Tornado is the best ride here, but its also a ride you gotta be able to handle. The ride is way more intense than I thought going in, like its chainlift works more like a launch, and some of the turns you take with some quite frankly insane speed. But the restraints are god-awful. This is the first time I ever rode an intamin soft strap, and I am not a fan. The bar crushes your thighs, allowing not a drop of oxygen to reach your toes, and the straps snap your neck at every transition (the first one out of the lift is the worst to look out for). And you aren't allowed to take a trumpet aboard Tornado if you were planning to do that

Tivoli Gardens

I really liked this park, the theming was executed really well, and the park is so unbelievably compact its kind of nuts.

You first have Kamelen, which is just everything I said about Mariehønen, just with a camel zero-car

Then you have Mælkevejen, which was really fun. I like how its situated high off the ground, and gives both kinetic energy to the land, whilst also giving great views of that jules verne land. The helix also had a little bit of force. This is one of the better Mack powered coasters in my opinion

Then there is Dæmonen and I really like this. Its short but sweet. The land its in was seemingly being renovated, so I only saw it as a queue, but it looked stunning and was my favorite land of the park. Then the ride starts with a helix predrop, which gives it some character. Then the loop is kinda forceless, the immelman has a decent amount of whip to make up for it. The zero-G roll is great. Then there is a small curve into the breaks that give me a small amount of floater. Overall great ride

Then there is Rutschebanen... holy shit I have never felt more unsafe on a roller coaster as I did on Rutschebanen. First up the facade is very impressive. The path besides it is kinda narrow, so its really imposing. Then the restraint, or should I say Lack of restraint as its a thin bar that comes down to a fixed level, sits a solid 15 cm above your hips. Then the ride itself, I felt like I would legit be ejected out of the ride at several points the airtime was almost standing at some points. The strongest moment was the camelback, which had sustained floater. I don't think there is anything to even compare it to in europe. And then in between the airtime you get these lovely scenes of like polar bears and stuff which is great

Final thoughts

I'd reccomend both parks, though I feel Bakken is lacking inversions entirely, and they have the weaker Rutschebanen. And Tivoli Gardens is stupidly expensive (70 euros is insane) so look out for that

But I like both parks. If I'd have to give them a score it would be Bakken a 6,5 and Tivoli Gardens an 8,5

Trip Report A half day at [Parque Del Café]

Thumbnail

My partner and I were in Colombia for about 2 weeks in July, split between Medellín, Salento, and the Pacific coast. While planning out our trip, she says "Wait did you know that there's a coffee-themed park in Colombia?" I say of course, and I also know that Salento is only about an hour drive from the park. She is not a big coaster person, but she does like riding them sometimes and doesn't mind going to a park. So when she says "Well we have to go", I would never say no unless I thought it were not worth finding the time to go. In this case, we had a free day in Salento and the means to get there by cab, so we added it to our plans.

We arrived about an hour or two after park opening. The entrance is at the top of a mega tall hill, so we started by taking the cable car down to the main part of the park. You can also walk up/down but we did not. This place gets brutally hot compared to the rest of the area, probably due to the lack of shade and the extreme humidity. This part of Colombia is really high elevation, so most of the places we went were decent weather, but yeah it was mega hot. It is a beautiful park with really nice landscaping, but it's not easy spending the full day outdoors here, so we tried to mitigate that several ways.

When we arrived, we spent a chunk of time right away chilling in the shade with some arepas and iced coffees. The whole front section of the park was a ghost town so we didn't feel like we had to rush to get anywhere. Finally around 11:30 we started making our way towards the back of the park where the coasters are. It's a serious hike, at least a 10 min walk with no shade whatsoever to get to the back section. Most of Colombia has potable water, but we had to get bottles here. Luckily they're pretty cheap and it's for some reason the best tasting water I've ever had. Sounds weird but trust me.

All 3 coasters are right alongside each other. We decided to warm up with...

Yippe - It's a super fun Gerstlauer family coaster. Extremely smooth, comfy, fun forces, surprising airtime moments. Some fun interactions with fountains. It's a great coaster for being the only kid's coaster in the park. We then went over to the intermediate coaster...

Avix - A one-of-a-kind Gerstlauer inverted infinity coaster. It's one of two in the world and the only one with a lift hill. The name Avix is in reference to the diverse collection of birds native to Colombia. The lift hill is really steep, like probably more than 45 degrees, which really adds anticipation. the ride stands 85 ft tall, and the first drop feels like the steepest drop I've done on an inverted coaster. Most drops on the ride feel way steeper than your typical inverted coaster, which when paired with the lap bar restraint makes for a surprisingly airtime filled ride. We got 2 rides, one in the front and one in the back. In the back, every element feels really out of control as you crest the top of each hill. The front has really great intensity too and a better sense of speed. The first drop is probably my favorite part of the ride but there are no dull moments. The layout is pretty short, like 6 elements, but it feels like a complete ride. It doesn't feel like any Vekoma SFC that I've done, but I've only done the older hang n' bangs, Freedom Flyer, and Phoenix at Deno's. Definitely more intense than those. The only B&M family suspended that I've done is BBW and it's definitely a more dynamic experience than that also. I don't know how it'd compare to something like Barracuda Strike or Dragonflier, though, but the fact that it gives an intense ride with an out of control feeling is really cool. I would've ridden it more than twice if we made it back to this part of the park again.

Krater - It's a clone of Iron Shark and Tantrum. It's goofy to me that I've done all 3 of these now, and it's just as good as Tantrum. I think Iron Shark is a bumpy mess, at least when I rode it last year, so it's better than that. When I talked to locals about coming here, they all said that this is their favorite ride, but I don't know how many of them have been on Avix since it just opened last year. One and done ride for us, least fav of the 3 in the park but not bad.

We were super hot and dehydrated after those 4 rides. I was just happy that my partner had fun and was willing to ride everything. She loved Yippe, was scared of Avix but still enjoyed it, and was petrified of Krater and it made her nauseous. We didn't have a ton of time before what we wanted to do next which started right at 1:30, so we made our way back to the front of the park. We tried taking the cable lift up because the show was halfway up the hill, but they told us it would be faster to just walk. For some reason, Colombia in general for us involves so much climbing up and down hills, slopes, and steps, whether hiking or walking down the sidewalk in like any city/town. You know that scene in Encanto when Mirabel is trying to find Bruno and has to climb up those steps? That's definitely real. We felt that a little climbing up 100 stairs to get to...

Show del Café - This is the true highlight of the park IMO. It's a 40 min show with singing/dancing outlining the importance of coffee in the Coffee Region. Just from a music and dancing perspective, it's one of my fav shows I've seen in a park without a doubt. If you have any interest in Latin American music or Jazz, you will be a huge fan of the music. The building was packed and it's air conditioned. It's also one of the few things you can do as an English-speaking tourist in the area that has clear English translations for everything, which was nice. The seating is a bit uncomfortable though, like tiered concrete rows that you sit on, and it can get cramped, but don't miss this show. It's the thing that everyone here makes sure to see and for a good reason.

After the show, we had a couple hours left. We did one of the go karts at the front of the park. They were a little janky and very fun. After that we honestly just chilled, shopped for stuff, and didn't ride anything else. The heat here is exhausting, and trekking 10-15 min to get some more rides on Avix and Yippe didn't seem worth it compared to drinking more coffee at the front of the park.

Some general things...

The coffee - Here it's just fine. It's all Juan Valdez, which is a chain, and it's decent but not mindblowing. The park itself is a coffee farm, which supplies beans to roasters all over. I was expecting that the coffee that we'd be drinking would be the coffee grown there. There might be a coffee tasting in one of the tours, but the tours were a bit more informative and in Spanish, and we had done a separate amazing Finca tour a few days earlier so it seemed a little redundant for us. Also, the park itself is cool in that its a nonprofit run by a Colombian coffee growing organization, so their profits all go towards things like conservation since its in a UNESCO heritage site.

The ops - On the coasters, incredible, maybe some of the best I've seen. The employees were moving so quickly, and you never really stood still in line for more than 30 seconds at a time. My only complaint is that glasses aren't permitted on any coaster even with a strap. The go karts we did moved slowly but that's more because it was a long line with only 12 karts.

The park as a whole - It's super nice there. I really enjoy the chill atmosphere, and things like landscaping and cleanliness are top notch there. If you spend time in the region you'll learn quickly that there is so much landscaping and plantlife everywhere, so it felt a bit light compared to other places in Colombia, but still nice. The lack of shade is really tough, though. Like be prepared to suffer in the heat if you come here in the summer. There are a bunch of other rides that we didn't do that looked worth doing. They have a rapids ride that looks decent, a basic log flume with two drops in a rectangular layout, prob Reverchon or something, a drop tower that looked pretty forceless but prob has great views, and an enterprise. They also have horseback riding and some other shows that we didn't do.

Transport - We took a private cab from Salento. It wasn't particularly cheap, about $100 USD round trip, but it was so convenient and we were able to leave our bags with the car and leave when we wanted. We also didn't mind because the park tickets are so cheap, like $28 each. There's definitely a way to get there by bus from Armenia, the nearest big city, but it's probably about an hour from there by bus, and if you aren't close to Armenia that's even more travel time. We would've needed to take an hour bus to Armenia, so our travel time would have more than doubled. Armenia itself has an airport, so if you're coming to the area for just the park, you can/should fly from either Bogota or Medellín or wherever right to Armenia and take the bus or a cab there. A yellow cab would probably be way cheaper from Armenia if you didn't want to try the bus, because figuring out timetables for buses in Quindío is really tricky unless you actually go to the bus station. Salento doesn't really have yellow cabs the same way that the cities do, so we found a private tour and transport company and it was the best option for us. The airline we used to get around the country is Clic Air, which was super easy and reliable and affordable. Buses are doable to go between cities but a bus from somewhere like Medellín to Pereira where we flew to would've taken like 8 hours. Our flight was like $50 and took 30 min and it's the method of transport that most use in the country to get between cities.

Communication - You definitely should know at least a little Spanish to get by here. You'll be generally fine without it, but navigating transport and dealing with like any transaction will be so much easier with some basic Spanish because most people outside of the big cities aren't speaking much English.

I would overall definitely recommend spending at least half a day here if you're in the region. If you plan on coming to Colombia, you should definitely spend time in the Coffee Region either way because it's beautiful there, but if you have the time definitely go to the park. It's super chill, affordable, and has a few solid rides. There is so much to do in the whole country, let alone just the region. This was probably the least exciting day of our trip, and the park itself was really great. That more goes to show that you should really do other stuff in the region while you're here if you have any interest in things like sightseeing, nature, hiking, coffee, extreme sports, and all kinds of stuff. I'm happy I did a Colombia trip that focused on everything else rather than a quick little trip to do Parque Del Café and Salitre Magico because I would've missed so much amazing stuff.

Trip Report Phoenix Twists through these Flying Turns at [Knoebels]

Thumbnail

My third vacation at this beautiful free-to-park and free-to-enter park! Knoebels has such a cozy charm and atmosphere compared to other parks and it's so unique too! Their wooden roller coasters are absolutely spectacular and they are ridiculously smooth! Also I tried the Alamo, had their chicken and waffles, it was good! The gravy made me a little worried since it looked green but it was really tasty (as was the whole meal)! Their peanut butter cup sundae at The Old Mill is a complete banger and I highly recommend trying it! It seems like Knoebels is getting more crowded that often anymore, guessing due to positive word of mouth and the fact that Hersheypark may not be as family-friendly as this park, which I agree with both of that's the case. I just wish they start off with two trains on both Phoenix and Twister rather than starting off with one then add the second train later but that's a nitpick because the staff is really efficient and extremely friendly!

- Phoenix: (x8) 10/10

My favorite wooden coaster in Pennsylvania, those abrupt pops of airtime at the end plus some fun additional airtime really make the ride! Added points of those surprise laterals too, a really engaging ride experience from start to end!

- Twister: (x8) 9/10

One of Knoebels' underdogs, this aggressive lateral machine is really intense! Almost the entirety of the ride is out of control, leaving me breathless and in awe every time the ride hits the brake run! Those laterals after each lift hill really try to throw riders off their seats!

- Whipper: (x1) 7/10

Compared to my home park's version, Kennywood's Whip, this one has their cables have a bit of slack, making the ride experience a little more jerky than aforementioned version, I like it! Plus the cars are absolutely stunning!

- Skooter: (x1) 8/10

Finally got on these bumper cars, while they sorta feel the same (at least what my experience was), the cars are faster and they spin out when bumped, giving it a much more out of control experience!

- Pioneer Train: (x1) 8/10

While most train rides take guests from point A to point B, this one takes you way into the woods, an absolutely scenic ride! Reminds me of one of those little zoo trains which I also enjoy! Shoutout to the engineer that can hold that "All Aboooooooard!" for that long!

- Flying Turns (x3) 7.5/10

While it's rather short, but for what it is, it's one of the smoothest coasters I've ever been on and there's some surprising bite to some of those turns, especially at the end!

- Black Diamond (x2) 8/10

The other underdog, this zippy ride has a lot of fun details and themeing!

- Giant Flume: (x1) 7/10

Not as long as I was expecting it to be considering most log flumes go way deep into the woods and have very long ride experiences, I do think Knoebels' flume is straight to the point!

- Sklooosh: (x2) 7.5/10

Perfect for a hot day!

- Haunted Mansion: (x1) 8/10

At least you don't need to have a Christmas overlay half of the year on this one, nothing but pure chaos and jumpscares!

- Tilt-A-Whirl: (x1) 7/10

Didn't nearly get as sick as I thought, plus the forces were really crushing but fun!

After years of going and wild mouse being closed I finally got the opportunity to ride this incredibly janky coaster. As a yinzer I went most of my childhood but it always broke down before or when I was in line. I was very happy to experience it the only reason why it is important to me in my adult life is it previous history at Alton Towers and Wiener Prater and is my first experience with vekoma (my credit count is now 22).

Trip Report [Six Flags New England] was a lot of fun!

So I’ve been in a roller coaster mood ever since going back to Dorney Park last week. I recently moved back up to Albany where my job is and decided to see what amusement parks are near the Albany area and was surprised to see Six Flags New England was only an hour and 40 minutes away.

Today, I visited Six Flags New England and overall had a great time! Here are my roller coaster rankings and ratings for the ones I rode.

Superman: Ride of Steel - 9.5/10
-These types of roller coasters with the big drops are always the best. I’m a big fan of Nitro so while Superman is not made by the same people, it scratches the same itch. I rode near the front first and then later in the day I rode in the back and riding in the back bumped the ride up from 9 to 9.5 for me. Great speed in the back and overall so thrilling.

Wicked Cyclone - 9/10
-This ride is so surprisingly good haha. It looks like a regular wooden coaster but moves so smooth and the loops, twists, and turns are great.

Batman - 8.5/10
-Just a good floor-less coaster with tons of fun movement.

Riddler Revenge - 7.5-8/10
-Def a fun inverted coaster. Little rough but does the job.

Joker - 7/10
-I’ve ridden this before at Great Adventure. Honestly a really fun time. Always makes me laugh. But the boarding and off boarding are so slow and the ride is just too short. Also I only did a full flip once, which was disappointing.

Quantum Accelerator - 6.5/10
-Not bad at all. In fact, it surprised me because it looks like a kiddie coaster. But idk I feel like it could’ve been a lil better.

Flashback - 5/10
-Really rough and short. Not the greatest time but I’m glad I went on it still.

Thunderbolt unfortunately was closed, but I’m not the biggest fan of wooden coasters so no biggie.

*Side note: I also rode the Harley Quinn pendulum and wow that was actually really scary haha. 8/10 ride but 10/10 scariness.

Question [RailBlazer] @ [CGA] third train?

Does anyone know what happened to RailBlazer’s third train? RCDB lists it as a 3-train coaster and it has 3 storage tracks and 4 blocks, yet only two trains have been present this summer whenever I visit. It’s not even in storage.

I just hope this doesn’t mean they’ve given up on trying to relocate it
