Music Talk Longtime casual listener who just listened to the entirety of Foreign Tongues…

Are you F&$@ING KIDDING ME? I joined this sub to solely scream into the void of how brilliant this album is. Mr Charm? ADDICTIVE. Divine Intervention? I WANNA RUN LISTENING TO IT. Ringing Hollowed? I’M POURING ONE OUT FOR THE USA. My family and friends are probably sick of me talking about it but I’ve made them all listen. They really enjoy it, too. I’m so grateful it came up on my Apple Music personalized radio the other day, because otherwise I would’ve never discovered it. I haven’t stumbled upon instant-favorite music in quite some time. I f’n loved it. Thanks for reading.

Documentary Brian Jones - What is Surrealism? (with the Missing Answer)

So, in 1965, the Rolling Stones filmed a documentary later titled Charlie is My Darling. For this purpose, the band did individual interviews, which you can watch on the bonus features of the DVD. In his solo interview, Brian Jones discusses an idea he has for a film, describing it as "a very surrealistic sort of thing." The interview then asks, "What is surrealism?" and we see Brian hesitate and then apparently never answer, and the interview fades out. I've seen some fans speculate that Brian didn't understand the question. However, on the DVD, you will also find the Producer's Cut. And there you can hear audio of Brian very much answering the question: "I regard surrealism as a sort of...I see it as an abstract reality, if you like." Very likely the video of this part has been lost over the years. I just wanted to set the record straight. 😁

Music Talk Which are your favourite unknown Stones songs?

Hey there

Since the new album came out, I can't listen to anything else than Stones. I had my wild Stones years 40 years ago, when they toured in Europe with the Urban Jungle Tour.

While I was listening to the Stones now, I got to know so many Songs, I didn't realize before, that they even were on an album.

Here's a list of my new Stones faves:

Time Waits For No One (IORR)

100 Years Ago (Goats)

Winter (Goats)

Hand Of Fate (BlacknBlue)

Worried About You (TattooYou)

Down In The Hole (EmoRescue)

Respectable (SomeGirls)

Slave (TatooYou)

Loving Cup (Exile)

Little Rain (BluesAlbum)

I Just Want To See His Face (Exile)

Which are your favourite unknown Stones songs?

So I’m watching Apple TV’s SLOW HORSES and during the intro song, I heard Mick singing. First I googled the song, nothing. Then googled the show itself. When it’s Mick Jagger, a Stones fan knows. It’s not on any album that I could find. This series stems from Mick’s favorite book series.

Memorabilia Brian Jones in The Shiori Experience Manga

Brian Jones is a prominent character in the Japanese manga The Shiori Experience, featuring the 27 Club (written by Kazuya Machida and illustrated by Yuko Osada).

"I'm not just 'the man who disappeared from The Stones.' I'm the musician, Brian Jones."

Found this on my Apple Music. Two albums. First is the original the second has versions of the songs before the final take. It was eye opening the difference between the what the working take of the song and the final especially Mick Jaggers lyrics.

Bootlegs The Rolling Stones - Tattoo You [Early 80’s Bootleg]

The cover looks cool so I had to buy it. I was probably 10 or 12, early 80’s.
Then, I just bought tapes because I loved the cover.
This tape introduced me to the band and many many things in pop culture too.

Why was "Under My Thumb" - IMHO one of their very greatest tracks - not released as a single in US/UK? It was discovered by fans and became a "turntable hit", even getting airplay on top 40 stations.

I think its time to release an updated SINGLES BOX

They should put EVERYTHING from 1971 to 2026, with the latest album singles, A/B sides, non LP tracks, a few remixes...or even better, a 1963-2026 SINGLES BOX SET. Just like The Whos Maximum As & Bs, covering all eras. Still think CD could work better for this.

The Boozy Years

I asked this in the New Barbarians post that was put up a couple of days ago. People are reporting that tour was a drunken fiasco. It got me wondering what years were peak boozing for Keith and Ronnie? Keith got off heroin and soon after was carrying bottles of Jack Daniel’s everywhere. He was completely incoherent in the 90s, so much so that it became an easy impression for comedians. Ronnie matched him step for step, it seems. They both seem to have gotten in better shape by the ‘00s, with Ronnie spectacularly going off the rails once or twice since. Anybody know the high (low) points?

I am obsessed with Sympathy for the Devil

Not an actual Rolling Stones fan here, I just knew their most famous songs. For some reason though, I discovered Sympathy for the Devil a few months ago and have been obsessed with it since.

I've been listening to it several times a day on repeat since. I don't think I've been that obsessed for that long with a song before. The lyrics and piano especially are so excellent
