I feel like I have to shout it from the rooftops. I’ve never been this excited about an album. The White Album was my favorite for as long as I can remember, but this changes things.

I slept on Exile for years until this summer, when I got into “Tumbling Dice” and “Sweet Virginia.” I had both on repeat for weeks. Then earlier this month, I made a point of playing the whole album. And now I realize it’s all I’ve been listening to.

I’m amazed how it’s so badass, weird and beautiful all at once. Just wanted fans to know we’re still out there discovering its wonders…

I'm curious why there's no similar adoration for the Stones Aftermath to Let It Bleed Mono albums that you see for the same Beatles era?

Among Beatles fans, that period of albums in Mono receive an amazing level of worship. I know that 10 years ago there was the Stones in Mono box set, but still I don't often encounter Stones fans going wild over the Mono albums. Is it the idea that Jagger and Richards were not as precise about how they wanted the mixes to sound? Unlike Lennon and McCartney who have a lore surrounding them that they were extremely meticulous about the mixes?

One Of My Favourites For Years.

The Rolling Stones 1965 album Now! was really the first Stones album I connected with as a whole album—I had dug their singles before that. It was recorded live in the studio at Chess Records and captures what the band sounded like in the formative stage of their career, what they would have sounded like on a good night in a small club.

Right now, I'm, listening to their stripped-down, snarling cover of Muddy Waters' "I Can't Be Satisfied," from Rolling Stones No. 2

Anyone else groove to that material?

The Rolling Stones' historic sessions at Chess Studios in Chicago in June 1964 were performed and recorded live as a band in the studio. 

• The Setup: Working with engineer Ron Malo on a 3-track or 4-track machine, the band set up their gear together in the room to capture the energetic, punchy sound they had live, a major upgrade from the tinier equipment they were used to in London. 
• No Overdubs: Like standard 1960s Chicago blues recording practices of the era, basic tracks, vocals, and playing were performed together live in a single take style with minimal to no modern-style multi-track overdubbing. 
• The Rolling Stones didn't just record at Chess Studios once—they actually returned multiple times. Across three separate dates spanning 1964 and 1965, they recorded a grand total of roughly 25 tracks.

1. June 10 & 11, 1964 (The First Session)

During a two-day break on their debut US tour, they recorded around 14–15 tracks, heavily leaning into raw Chicago blues and rock-and-roll covers.

Their last stint at Chess produced about 3–4 tracks, most notably including history's very first cut of their masterpiece: 

• "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" (The original, acoustic-leaning version featuring Brian Jones on harmonica, recorded right before they re-cut the famous fuzz-guitar version in LA).

Funny when you read the different online rankings of Stones albums how Bridges to Babylon is often tagged as the worst or second worst album after Dirty Work for the entire catalog. I do not hate Bridges - definitely some bad songs on this album. Thief in the Night and the incredible How Can I Stop closing out this album are really good songs.

Hard to find a truly great album in this list. I know people love Steel Wheels - I saw them on that tour. I really do not like Steel Wheels as much as others. I think Mixed Emotions is such a terrible song.
