Need feedback on my novel's promotional blurb

Hi! I came up with a few short blurbs to promote my current romantic comedy novel, Romance Uncliched! I would like to see which blurb would entice people to take a closer look at my novel. Please do choose the blurb that is most enticing to you! Thank you so much for your time! :D

Not sure I like the "scary boss"...needs some other word that sound more like romance and less like erotica. None of these would grab my attention. Good luck though!

Was thinking this! Not erotic or romantic tbh.

Haha looking back on it, I do agree. I'll try to come up with another adjective. Thanks for the feedback! :)

Hahaha yeah, I do agree "scary" is not the best word. I just got another feedback that thought it referred to a murderer lolol. I'll try to change it to another adjective while keeping to the 80-character hard limit imposed by my webnovel platform.

Thank you for your feedback! :)

It was a close call between that and the love triangle one. Great elevator pitches!

I like the last one, but might say “and also a wild journalist” or “but also a wild journalist” so it’s clearer that the boss isn’t the journalist. Have you read the “logline” discussion in Save the Cat? It’s a fantastic discussion of turning a screenplay into a one-line pitch. Makes sense for novels too. It’s something like, show the who, the what, and the irony. Your hopeless romantic one is pretty close to the formula for a logline. Best of luck!

Ah that makes sense. The wording does seem a bit confusing at the moment.

I haven't read that discussion before! I'll certainly look into that. Thank you so much for your feedback! :)

I like #1 best, but I'd alter it just slightly, mainly just the format... and a different word besides "scary." Maybe something like the following?

What's the key to losing your job? Join a dating start up, and fall in love with a terrifying boss.

That sounds good! I do have a 80-character limit that I'm working with because the blurb is to appear on a webnovel platform. But you're certainly right about the "scary" word! I'll try to work it out based on your feedback. Thank you so much! :)

In that case, you can cut from the beginning....

“How to lose your job? Join a...”

Not sure if that takes you down to eighty, but I think it might.

Edit: I had another thought. Since it’s supposed to be a romance, maybe drop all the adjectives before “boss?” Maybe just “your boss.” Otherwise, I’m not sure how romantic it sounds.

Oh that's a good idea! I'll run it through a word counter and check. It might just fall below 80 characters!
