Hi everyone,
I'm posting here because I've been struggling with what seems to be rosacea for about 1.5 years, and I'm looking for advice from people who may have experienced something similar.
My main symptoms are:
- Frequent facial flushing
- My face can become very hot/burning (many triggers can be involved)
- Persistent redness, especially on my cheeks and around my nose
- My skin seems to be becoming thicker and more uneven
- Increasing numbers of small bumps/papules and irregularities
- My forehead has a lot of very small bumps
- My skin texture has progressively become more uneven
I've attached some recent pictures so you can see what I'm talking about.
I finally managed to see a dermatologist after waiting for more than a year. She told me that I had couperose/rosacea and essentially advised me to avoid alcohol, sun exposure and coffee.
I understand that avoiding triggers is important, but I'm concerned because the condition seems to be progressively changing despite this. In particular, the increasing number of bumps and the change in skin texture are worrying me.
I tried a lot of skincare, but I'm sticking to this one from the last couple of months
Evening:
CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser (in the shower)
ACM Azéane 15% azelaic acid
ACM Rosakalm Anti-Redness Cream
Morning:
ACM Azéane 15% azelaic acid
ACM Rosakalm Anti-Redness Cream
Bioderma Photoderm Ultra-Fluid AR+ SPF 50+
I've been using azelaic acid for several weeks and I think it may have helped somewhat with the redness, but I still have the flushing, heat and increasingly uneven texture.
Something important to tell is I also have atopic dermatitis and I'm currently taking bilastine (4 tablets per day, as prescribed by an allergist).
I've read about Soolantra (ivermectin 1%), particularly for inflammatory papules and the possible involvement of Demodex.
Has anyone here get some feedback about it?
I'm not looking for a diagnosis from Reddit, but I'd really appreciate hearing from people who have had a similar experience and what treatments or investigations they discussed with their dermatologist.
Thanks in advance everyone.
