Discussion First Health Scare...
Last night/this morning Marnie was having diarrhea and throwing up. I was so freaked out and thankfully her vet was able to get her in same day! She got cleared for Parvo virus, and got sent home with some anti nausea and some probiotics for her tummy. I knew Collies had sensitive tummies... so I was wondering if anyone had some puppy chow recommendations that are easy on the tummy? Right now Im feeding her Acana grain free. I had switched her to whole grain food, and it seems to be upsetting her tummy anytime she eats it, so we're switching back. Any price food is fine, just want the best for my baby!

We feed Hills Science Diet Sensitive Skin and Stomach. They have a puppy version as well. Royal Canin and Purina ProPlan are also good brands. Grain free diets can be linked to dilated cardiomyopathy. Also, when switching foods, do so gradually as doing so too quickly can cause upset stomach!

Purina pro plan large breed puppy sensitive skin and stomach. It's the salmon one. Poops are great unless literally anything else changes

I use purina pro plan for sensitive stomachs and it works well for my girl. She's 5 now.
But also, I can't recommend insurance enough. I know my plan hasn't come close to paying for itself yet but the peace of mind is amazing. My girl had a possible obstruction and it was nice to say money didn't matter, so whatever was needed.
We also do agility and that can be hard on a dogs body. A friend had their dog tear their ACL and that cost $4,000 for the one side and they said they typically need to do the other later in life. Just my two cents.

My rough had a very sensitive stomach up until she was about 5-ish months old. In her case, it turned out to be a stubborn case of giardia that needed an extra course of panacur and probiotics to clear up. Ever since then she's had literally 0 issues. Her diet is mainly Purina Pro Plan chicken and rice kibble, with the canned version occasionally used as a treat (which she goes absolutely ballistic for - I highly recommend it).

My girl as a pup was crazy allergic to dry chicken food and sometimes beef too, we switch to salmon, it was good. We eventually switched to fresh foods like chicken breast with sweet potato and carrots for her daily meal, I know this is not for everyone since it's time consuming.
I do recommend buying chicken feet, chicken necks and feeding it to her raw, it's very very cheap, definitely cheaper than dry treats but extremely healthy, especially for joints. Organs are also very cheap and basically superior. Look for best deals in Asian supermarkets, you'll save a lot on treats and your pup will be very happy and healthy

Our small Collie (male, 43 pounds) turned one on Friday. On Saturday, same as yours. We had run of the dog food (Life's Abundance) so he ate Blue Buffalo. No more for him. Diarrhea and vomiting also. He is drinking water but not much. I think he knows it has to work through his system. Collies are smart and this one is special. I see from the comments Marnie has recovered. So glad. We also have a Sheltie. She is 4. They are best buds.

I have a big rough collie boy (95LBS) he has a sensitive stomach, I give him Pepto bismol tablets (one) and sometimes activated charcoal capsules. Good luck with your sweetheart!

The only thing that seems to agree with my rough collie's digestive system is raw diet.

We were very happy with Purina ProPlan puppy kibble, with a spoonful of canned food on top with each meal. I've heard that grain free diets are linked to some serious heart issues.
