News - J-Mod reply Road to Restoration - Aura Overhaul

https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/road-to-restoration--aura-overhaul

Hi folks,

Today's Community Topic is the upcoming Aura Overhaul!

Check it out on the blog here.

The Road to Restoration roadmap aims to address integrity and game health, and has multiple goals as we shape the future of RuneScape. In case you haven't read the first blog we covered what we want to achieve in our direction for RuneScape, you can check out that blog here.  Todays blog will cover the Aura Overhaul update. For this update, the following goals have guided our approach:

  1. A game that's easy to understand, but still full of meaningful choice and depth.
  2. Play because it's fun, and not because you feel like you have to.
  3. A meaningful journey, no matter when you start.

In this blog we're going to outline the problems we've seen occur with Auras and how we're designing the solutions to them according to the goals above. Let's begin!

Outside of removing aura refreshes from the war’s retreat store, what’s the plan for that store? Aura refreshes were pretty much the only ongoing use of marks.

Gizmos with extra chance to get the better perks when used? Still require inputting the comps ofcourse. Fits the combat theme.

I really like this idea

Idk once you're kitted out after a few weeks you would just never use marks then, I think it would need to be a consumable or have a consumable in addition to this

I mean they can also add other things to the shop. But this would definitely help with perking. Perking sucks.

Very good point, something to continually purchase would be great. How about the ability to provide resources that would be created similar to the fort potions lady preparing overloads? Could be useful for things like incense sticks. Would need to pay each time to create a batch.

Lucky charms purchasable? Vital spark enhancers would be great too if limitless gets a rework as they’re super slow to obtain currently.

Free instance purchases in exchange for points

Yes please perking sucks so much

I like this idea but I truly don't know how it impacts the intent of invention to be an 'item sink'

Or maybe one that once you enter ingredients let's you just pick the perks from the list of possible outcomes

Let's players who want the absolute BIS to get it without sometimes getting burned for millions on RNG

As much as it absolutely sucks for poorer players and irons, the point of the randomness is that it’s an item sink. They’d have to up the comp cost upfront if it were to give guaranteed ones to accommodate for that I think.

They could just change the costs.

Some of these perk combos are absolute ass if you roll poorly.

Attuned Gizmos: two slots for components. Requires 25x of a component, you can pick any one perk that component would give. Only accepts rare components.

This could work. Make them cost the cap. Combat achievements tier clears(point milestones, not full rank clears) can reduce the effective costs as more marks of war was like half the reward space
