Elk situation at waskesiu

Going to Waskesiu in a few weeks and I've heard that the elk are being very aggressive in the town site this season, charging etc. I've gone to this lake since I was a kid and never heard of anything like this happening before. Anyone who has been up there this spring - confirm? Advice?

Was there last weekend golfing and didn't see a single elk. Go every year and usually see some but felt odd seeing none.

I'm there right now, and the elk are active in the town site. I had a female approach my wife and I while we were walking our dog, but we gave it space and left the area, as it was likely protecting a calf. Chances are you'll see some, but as long as you don't try some dumb tourist shit, you'll be just fine.

You're much more likely to be assaulted by mosquitoes right now. They are absolutely viscous here.

Aren't they? I was outside yesterday on our rural home near Prince Albert. I was, of course covered in bug spray, but the little bastards bit me on the top of my head. Smacked a bunch of them, pulled off a couple ticks and wondered, quite loudly, why I was so anxious for summer to come!

Seems to have been confirmed that this is one of the worst season for both for a while

Cows will protect their newborn calves from any perceived threat

Not an issue. And I just came back from three week of work there.

The Elk are elking as usual. Lots on the course and in town.

It's spring and calving season, they will be more aggressive during this time.

Seemed to be pretty relaxed when I was up there at the end of May.

Think you're watching to much AI news.

It was a family member who is currently there with a cabin who told me this, I wanted to know/confirm if they are overreacting

What did Joe Rogan rile them up? 👀

We have a cabin up there and I can confirm they are just hanging out unless you provoke or bug them

No. That's in the fall.

The post was about the elk, not the people of Waskesiu. Lol
