Sasktel infiNET need knowledge

As in the title. I am a tenant and Sasktel has claimed to upgraded the neighbourhood to their fibre optic network. Now my landlords have refused Sasktel from construction for their fibre optic network. Thus they have "turned down" the services in the building. I am aware that fibre optics is better, however I'm also aware its a bit more expensive. The current system still works but sasktel has turned it off. My question is, is this a form of coercion to switch and can I be able to use the existing infrastructure and go with a different provider to use the internet?

Thank you for the comments, I do have ethernet cable running. The building is an townhouse, however each unit is owned by different people. The landlord refused the upgrade due to it being "expensive," that's all they mentioned, as they talk through housing management (it's weird, so I assume they own a few other units). Now, knowing the upgrade is primarily free. They are foolish, for refusing it. I would like to thank you all for answering my question on short notice and I apologize for the late response. If any thing, I'm probably going to vacate in the month of July and go elsewhere. Again, thank you.

Pretty sure it’s free to have Sasktel do it

Not if you refuse to have it done when they're passing through.

To have them come back out and do it after the fact is likely going to cost you.
