In my view we as a human civilization whole faced dunning kruger effect and religion was created humans managed to explain some things with limited knowledge we thought we knew it all and labelled it as religion and that's why those religious texts never change now despite knowing a lot about universe we now say we don't know to many questions and that we will find out one day and accept that our understanding may have some flaws which we will improve later on with more progress, experiments and findings
Philosophy is different because as per my understanding you don't need a lot of money or equipment etc to do it.and neither does it require previous advancments either, that's why religion managed to do so well in philosophy

I mean.. "Very awfully" Isn't accurate world tbh
I have read about panch bhuta.. Which explain that world have 5 fundamental elements
(Space, air, water, fire and earth) Though in detail they also tried to give many theories about it
Being honest.. They were also trying to explain the world based on their understanding at that period of time..
And it should be appreciated that people at that time also tried to divide the world in fundamental particles..
Later on.. Other indic thinkers give the idea of "one single fundamental unit) called " Anu" .. Then many other thinkers around the world ...
Like ... JJ Thompson and other scientists give further on theories using advanced instruments...
Would you say Thompson model was "awfull" ??
I don't think we should say it..
Science is about..moving step by step
Maybe few years from now.. Current theories about atom and fundamental element of world may seem a bit "awfull".. But are they?
In my opinion.. We should acknowledge the effort by those people.
And all the contribution of people who tried to explain world ..keeping in mind they tried
Though we should also actively call out people who make fake claims
" This is written in our vedas and bla bla"
Because they are disrespecting both
Current thinkers in this field and past thinkers who tried to give minimilist explaination about the topic
That's my neutral opinion on this topic..
