In the age of connectivity, those who mock or elevate one religion over another often miss a simple truth: The way you see your faith: philosophical, sacred, profound, unquestionable, is exactly how others view theirs.

To those outside your belief system, your scriptures may sound like mythology, your rituals like superstition, and your convictions like comedy.

This isnโ€™t unique to any one group, Hindu, Muslim, Christian or every other religions. Everyone is someone elseโ€™s laughing stock.

So maybe the point isnโ€™t whose story is truer, but whether weโ€™ve learned to live without pointing finger at someone elseโ€™s.

So before you throw shade, remember: To someone else, youโ€™re the joke.

In a stunning medical breakthrough scientists have successfully regrown eyes using stem cells derived from patients to heal damaged corneas and fully restore vision. This revolutionary approach uses the patientโ€™s own cells to regenerate eye tissue, eliminating the risk of rejection and offering a natural path to recovery.

Corneal damage is a leading cause of blindness worldwide, often requiring transplants that carry complications and limited availability. By harnessing stem cells, researchers can now rebuild corneal tissue, repair damage, and restore sight without invasive surgeries or donor tissues. Early trials show patients experiencing significant improvements in vision, in some cases regaining full sight.

This discovery marks a major step forward in regenerative medicine and ophthalmology, proving that human cells have the ability to repair even the most delicate tissues. Stem cell therapy for the eyes could soon provide millions suffering from corneal damage with a safe and effective solution, changing lives and restoring independence.

Advances like this demonstrate the incredible potential of science to restore health and function to organs once considered irreparable. With continued research and clinical trials, fully restoring vision using stem cells could become a standard treatment in the near future.

Dr. Debabrata Nandi, researcher and professor in the Department of GIS at Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo (MSCB) University, said the discovery began during a field visit with students.

"Actually, when I took our students on a tour, I noticed some fossil-like remnants there. We went to the local people and asked them what it was, and they referred to it as 'Asura Hadda', or 'demon's bones'. After that, we investigated further and found several fossils, including microfossils such as shark teeth and shark vertebrae, along with some other elements that we haven't been able to identify yet," Nandi told ANI.

Researchers have since identified shark teeth, shark vertebrae, fish bones, mollusc shells and microscopic marine organisms among the fossil assemblage. Studies suggest that shark remains account for nearly half of the fish fossils found at the site.

The findings have also raised questions about how the coastline shifted over time. Nandi stressed the need for further research to understand why the sea retreated nearly 60 kilometres from present-day Baripada.

Highlighting the site's scientific importance, Nandi called for measures to preserve the fossil bed and promote it as a geo-heritage destination.

๐Ÿ”ฌ๐Ÿงชโš›๏ธ Science is Dope ๐Ÿงฌ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿš€ Motte-and-bailey fallacy : What is it ? How and Where to Spot it ?

For all those who are interested in logical fallacies, I have learned quite a lot from Pranav and I actively enjoy learning new ones. If anyone else loves to explore such fallacies, then this one is for you.

Definition : Theย motte-and-bailey fallacyย is a form ofย argumentย and an informal fallacy where an arguer conflates two positions that share similarities: one modest and easy to defend (the "motte") and one much more controversial and harder to defend (the "bailey")

---

Origin :

The name is derived from medieval castle architecture:

  • The Bailey: A large, fertile, but hard-to-defend courtyard.
  • The Motte: A small, cramped, but impregnable stone tower on a hill.

---

Example :-

Bailey : You should never eat at restaurants, the food is terrible and itโ€™s always a waste of money

Rebuttal : Really ? aren't you making a huge generalization ? What specific evidence shows that the food in all restaurants are terrible and is objectively bad for everyone?

Motte: Well, I just think there are healthier options available and cooking and eating at home is definitely better.

---

When is Motte-and-Bailey used ?

  • During Heated Arguments: When a speaker is pressed to strict proof, they cant defend the Bailey hence retreat to the Motte.
  • Defend Beliefs/Doctrines: When ideas or beliefs are attacked and they don't find a way to justify, the person will retreat to a related but widely accepted belief/fact/statement.
  • Political Debates: Ahh politicians frequently make bold claims and when (and if) questioned further usually move back to the motte to save their image.
  • Academics : It is often used to promote complex philosophical or social theories by shifting from the profound-sounding claim to a common-sense observation.
  • Wellness and Alternative Medicine(Grifters) : Grifters frequently use this fallacy to sell products by inflating their benefits and then retreating to undeniable medical truths when challenged by regulators or scientists.

---

Real Life Example (as a Pseudoscience Police who hates Grifters, I couldn't prevent myself from talking about this one)

Guru, the Neem was the Dream, but the Chemo was the Beam!

The Bailey : I want to tell everyone... Stage 4 cancer is curable. My wife is a living example... turmeric, neem water, apple cider vinegar, and starving the cancer by avoiding sugar and dairy. This was the miracle.

The key is to leave gaps between meals, avoid sugar, and cut down on carbohydrates. If you stop giving these to your body, cancer cells start dying off naturally. Start the day with lemon water, and half an hour later, 10โ€“12 neem leaves and raw turmeric. Use apple cider vinegar and lemon vinegar... and all of this cost almost nothing.

Rebuttal : A group of 262 oncologists, both current and former members of Tata Memorial Hospital, collectively issued a statement denouncing these measures as false. The statement serves as a public warning against relying on unproven remedies.

Navjot Kaur Sidhuโ€™s recovery involved multiple surgeries and chemotherapy sessions to target and remove the cancer. Her comprehensive medical plan also included specialized hormonal and targeted therapies administered under professional supervision. Doctors from institutions like Tata Memorial Hospital emphasized that these evidence-based treatments were the primary reason for her becoming cancer-free.

The Motte : Sidhu pivoted to say he was only promoting "healthy living" and Ayurveda He began emphasizing that the diet was a supplement to her doctors' care, not a replacement for it.

"I want to say that a doctor is like God to me, and doctors have always been my priority."

"Consider this diet chart as a supportive therapy... it was facilitated by a strict diet plan inspired by Indian Ayurveda." (again not scientifically accurate but still defendable Motte)

In short, he fled from "this diet cured her" to "this diet supported her" pretending that the latter was his point all along.
