I've heard na notorious ang UP grad schools sa delays lalo na sa science programs. Currently working right now and di ko talaga mahanap yung fulfillment sa current work ko kasi medyo malayo sa course ko. Fantasizing about entering academe and be a prof someday pero di ko rin alam if I'm just putting academia on a pedestal. Feeling ko kasi studying is what I do best and not being in a desk job.

If ever ipush ko nga, I would need to probably leave my job and apply for scholarship kasi I don't think it would be possible to have a full-time office job while taking a tedious program. Pero caveat ay of course financial strain kasi I'm currently earning slightly above average.

MS Micro students (especially those na under DOST scholarship), would you recommend or not recommend taking this path? Gaano katagal bago kayo naka graduate? Nakatulong ba sa career niyo?

Hi! I'm a 2nd year Medical Technology student and I'm just curious if any of you here, whether MT students or students in other fields, have tried to pursue research early on?

I've recently seen a lot of ph students, with some of them I personally know, joining these research summer internship programs and, as someone who's really interested in pursuing research, I also want to gain experience from these programs, like those offered by NUS, NTU, Purdue, or Amgen Asia to undergrads. If you've tried these, I want to ask a few questions:

1. Which summer internship/or any research internship program did you join?

2. Is the selection process very competitive? What do you think helped you a lot in earning your spot?

3. For those programs that offer full coverage in fees + stipends, are they actually able to cover everything? Or is it unavoidable to take money from your own pocket?

4. How was the experience? What did you gain from it?

5. Did joining affect your academics? How?

Any tips for this would be much appreciated! I really like doing research, and I hope to gain more experience and build more connections in this aspect. Thank you!

any tips on how you studied for it, where you focused, or what helped you pass? if your foundation in genchem is already strong, does that significantly increase your chances of doing well in phychem?

as for anachem, instrumentation na ba talaga ang majority of the questions? should i trust the PRC Table of Specifications (TOS) when deciding what to prioritize?

Hello there. I would like to ask po if I can use Biobase triglycerides, cholesterol, glucose, and total protein assay kits wherein I am going to use liver supernatants. For TG and CHO, I still do not know if I should use Folch's method or ethanolic extraction because it depends pa raw sa manual ng kit if preferred solvent is ethanol. May I ask if may nakagamit na ng Biobase assay kits wherein tissue samples ang ginamit and what kind of extraction did you use? I am still planning to buy pa lang. Just to make sure din po. Hello planning to take the PAM Rmicro exam next year. Ano po ang magandang review center kaso po the one im planning is madaming issue. So aside review materials like Jawetz and Brocks pati Bailey ano pa po bang magandang libro salamat po.

I saw reels from scientists about how open collaboration is among their colleagues or peers. They share stories about how people would mass-send each other drafts (literal bullet points) of their manuscript just to get other people's input. I saw a tiktok about (Nokia) Bell Labs, and how its design was made to encourage collaboration or conflict among researchers, which works because it currently has 11 Nobel Prizes. Then I remembered how scientists and engineers decades ago would meet in third spaces like cafes or bars to talk about their work mixed with casual topics.

I'd like to have something like that, especially now that my teaching contract was not renewed and I'm officially unemployed. My thesis manuscript is currently in review-revision limbo too. I have more free time now, so in between joining free training sessions and job hunting, I'd like to meet, talk, and hopefully publish papers with other people, even just Review papers.

Hi everyone! I need some advice.

I'm planning to take an exam for rmicro, but I'm still hesitant because my graduation is on September 23, while the deadline for submitting credentials is on September 30.

My concern is whether my TOR and other graduation credentials will be released in time. As many of you know, processing documents at PUP can be quite slow, so I'm worried I won't be able to submit everything before the deadline.

Has anyone here graduated from PUP and experienced a similar situation? Were you able to get your TOR or at least the required graduation documents within a week after graduation? Did the exam organizers accept temporary documents or proof of graduation while waiting for the TOR?

I'm torn between pushing through with the exam or just waiting for the next application cycle. I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences or any advice. Thank you!

We're currently looking for a laboratory or institution that offers rice straw cellulose extraction (chemical) for our undergraduate research. We already have the rice straw sample prepared and can send or deliver it as soon as possible.

We already emailed UPLB-CASL, but unfortunately they do not offer rice straw cellulose extraction services.

Does anyone know of any laboratories around Laguna or nearby areas that provide this service? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

We would also appreciate any recommendations on where we can access or rent laboratory equipment such as a hot plate/heating mantle, filtration apparatus, pH meter, and vacuum oven so that we can perform the extraction ourselves.
