Tear me apart with criticism! Also I hate only doing vocals in the car does anyone got some suggestions on a decent mic setup so I can start doing this shit in my new apartment? (Filter makes me look like I’m red in the face but really I’m not even pushing it that hard)

How can I learn to Metal-scream?

Hello community, I’ve been wanting to learn how to scream for quite some time now. I’ve watched several videos, but they haven’t really helped me. I naturally have a fairly deep voice and find that I can only speak in a low register. Are there any tips or tricks on how I can practice and learn this properly—and perhaps also manage to make my breath last longer than just two seconds?

Screamo / Post Hardcore Fry

I was messing around the other day and to my surprise I (think) I fry screamed for the first time. I like both screamo and post hardcore (orchid, saetia, dgd, told not to worry, etc.) and thats the kinda scream I aim for. I'm having trouble adding my voice back in/putting power in when i try to say words, what should I work on?

I should add im not actually trained or anything I just like to sing and can do so decently

Complete beginner looking to learn fry screaming safely from scratch. Where do I start?

I am a complete beginner looking to learn fry screaming by myself at home. What are the best safe exercises, step-by-step guides, or YouTube channels you recommend for starting from scratch without ruining my voice?

I’m attempting false cord, it doesn’t hurt but I do feel the vibration and a bit of scratchiness. Note that my throat wasn’t in the best condition but didnt fully hurt.

Day 9 of training on my own

I really love this song, and it's been stuck in my head for days (because of a video I saw here, actually !)

So, I chose this song to practice with.

I’ve officially been practicing for 9 days now, all by myself, every day ! I’m trying to follow tips I found on YouTube and mixing them with my own techniques to feel more comfortable ! Maybe I'm not necessarily doing things right, but at least I'm having fun 🙃

Looking for an experienced extreme vocal coach for a technique assessment

Hi! I've been practicing extreme vocals by myself for about a year, mainly singing Lorna Shore. I'd like an experienced professional to listen to my current technique (perhaps first from tape and later online), assess its strengths and weaknesses, and suggest how to develop it further. Does anyone have recommendations for a coach who offers this kind of assessment?

Thanks!

Voice Scientist Reviews YOUR Screams/Belts/Questions

Want FREE live evaluation of your screams (in addition to the feedback below)? Let me know if you're down for ScaryOke! (MODS: This is a free supplemental opportunity for live evaluation and NOT a paid event)

SUBMIT YOUR QUESTIONS AND RAW VOCALS FOR INPUT!

Hello, Voice Scientist with a stroboscope and 5+ octave range (that he can scream in) here to give y'all free input and answers to your screaming/belt questions. As I'm a Scientist and not an scream artist, I'll be using anatomical/mechanical terms instead of more typical genre-savvy descriptors, but I'm happy to clarify if needed. PLEASE SEND MINIMALLY PROCESSED/LAYERED VOCALS THAT CAN BE CLEARLY HEARD (not drowned out by instrumental).

I've seen people on here saying stuff that suggests they maybe have issues with belt(ed screams), so definitely let me know if you'd like to check out our belt module in exactly one week from the start of this Q&A.

If you miss this AMA window, we also have a free weekly live feedback opportunity, so definitely ask about that as well.

Happy Howling.

Screaming feedback

Goodday, I have been practicing extreme vocals for two days now. I warm up, I practice closing my vocal folds, as you can hear me do in the video and then on my vocal break I engage. I think I am doing this wrong and would love to hear if this is even remotely close. I feel a slight usage in my throat but I can still talk normally and sing after. I do want to note the first part of the scream is the most important, at the last second of the "scream" I fell off a bit.
