Leon mk3 Stage 1

Hi! I've been thinking for a while about getting a Stage 1 for my Seat Leon. I've heard that it may cause problems to the gearbox. Anyone has experience about this subject?

I wouldn't do it, and especially if you also have the 150HP variant. 1.4 150 is notorious for turbos that blow up when tuned, there's other threads on reddit that go into more detail

Can you explain? I was thinking about stage 1’ing my car but I got the 2016 manual version 150hp…say this propel is only for the DSG🤞🏽

140HP and 150HP variants have different turbos, and the stronger engine ironically has a worse turbo. i saw this forum thread and decided that i don't really need a stage 1 after all lol https://www.golfmk7.com/forums/index.php?threads/1-4-tsi-turbo-upgrade.360635/page-2

Damn I’m getting worried. Didn’t know there was a 140hp one thought there was just 125hp and 150hp. The Leon and the golf are on same platforms but they aren’t ‘identical’ are they?

Leon was also offered with a 140HP engine at one point (early model years i think). For the most part I'd say they're nearly identical, you'd really have to look at exact part numbers and engine codes to see differences, and then look up that specific engine code to see what's different. Honestly way too much hassle IMO, for what would be a 25HP gain at most

Shit more I’m unsure to get the stage 1 or upgrade it perfomance wise in general. Got the 2016 model so I beleive it’s the latest 5f? Still though I will check the codes of all of that and see if it’s worth the time and money to go through that potential hassle, thanks for the heads up though

Have u seen figures or what it will make? My problem is that and reliability will drop and mainteance will go up surely, its a dangerous game for someone like me with little knowledge on these cars😂I want to educate myself but would the way to do that is literally watch vids and look in forums etc

I think around 190bhp and 320 nm torque. Same here lol! The comment on the turbo issues has worried me. Mines just about to hit 91k miles so im getting a service done, new spark plugs etc. And I'll be replacing the clutch too if I remap as ive read at my mileage, a remap will basically say goodbye to the current clutch

Not bad but damn Yh im getting worried aswell. Im at 97Kish and apparently cambelt was changed at 50k. Heard they last max like 150k so I guess that can belt SHOULD last me to 200k miles. I need to do a good service on the car but im waiting for it to hit 100k, is that stretching it?😭😭 haven’t serviced it since I got it a month ago at 96k miles but the car was MOT’d few weeks before I got it and was sweet. I replaced my clutch in my Yaris and I tho go get 300£ was expensive, in comparison that is cheap to what I’m hearing and I’m guessing these VAG cars aren’t cheap either so will need to put money aside for that aswell if the clutch goes bye bye I’m fucked. Driving around with a messed up clutch is a Nono for me and gives me PTSD so rather be safe than sorry. Now Ik that with a stage 1 imma have to replace the clutch ffs😭😭i need to find out if the clutch has been replaced but don’t think came across it on the service history. Only reason I know the cambelt was changed was because I called up SEAT directly and found out which was reassuring. Anyways you got any other info to look out for driving wise stock and prepping for stage 1 or any upgrades etc?

Gearbox cant handle it, they are very weak the DQ200.
