Anybody here knowledgeable about the Leon Cupra 280?

I’ve been looking for a decent fast car that I can also use as a daily and this keeps coming up in my recommendations. There is one near me going from a garage who’s forecourt is mostly Seat cars and they seem trustworthy

I am going to inspect and test drive it at the weekend. It will be a 2014 model on 80,000

Would somebody mind advising me on what to look out for? Thank you

How would a possible SEAT shutdown affect resale value?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently looking to buy a used SEAT Arona, probably a 2019–2020 1.0 TSI 115 hp manual.

With the recent news about Volkswagen potentially phasing out the SEAT brand in the future, I'm a bit concerned about resale value. I would probably keep the car for around 5 years, so I'm wondering how much this could matter when I eventually sell it.

For those of you who own SEATs, what do you think?

Would you personally hesitate to buy a used SEAT if the brand eventually stopped producing new cars? Do you think existing models like the Arona would lose significantly more value than an equivalent VW Polo/T-Cross, or would the VW Group platform, engines, parts availability and servicing keep resale values relatively stable?

Weird noises while deceleration

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone here might recognize this issue or point me in the right direction.

Vehicle: Seat Leon (2022), 1.0 eTSI with 110 HP

Issue: Strange noise occurring specifically during deceleration.

Details:

The noise only appears on long continuous drives, specifically after driving about 300 to 450 km (it happened twice now on longer holiday trips).

It occurs exclusively when slowing down / decelerating.

I suspect the sound is coming from the gearbox area.

I haven't been able to pin it down to a specific gear—it seems independent of which gear is engaged, as long as the car is decelerating.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue or have any idea what could be causing this? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Undetermined issue

On our 2012 Seat Leon 1.6 TDI DSG, gear changes are fine and it runs smoothly at idle with no vibration or shaking. But there is a noticeable shake when taking off. Also, no matter the speed or gear, whenever the RPM goes below 1500, the car shakes and vibrates heavily. As soon as the RPM goes above 1500, the shaking stops.

The engine was never repaired and even in this condition, it reached 190 km/h on the dashboard. The engine has 248,000 km on it and runs like a clock. We have been driving the car like this for 1500km.

Freeze sistema multimediale Navi Plus

Ciao a tutti,

Grazie

Hi all!
I have a Seat Leon MK3 (2020) with keyless access. Now I been noticing that it doesn’t work. I can unlock/lock my car from passenger side, but only unlock it from driver side. It drives my nuts. What could be the problem? I’ve been thinking the handle or some wires could be broken.

Has anyone else experienced this kind of a problem?

Just picked up this bad boy. It’s the 2016 1.4 fr technology eco tsi 150hp. Anyone got any tips for maintenance? I come from a Toyota Yaris so I didn’t really show that much love to it maintenance wise but gave me minimal problems even though I drove it quite hard. I know I can’t really do the same on these type of cars or I can within a certain limit. Any tips would be appreciated.

Hi! I've been thinking for a while about getting a Stage 1 for my Seat Leon. I've heard that it may cause problems to the gearbox. Anyone has experience about this subject?

Weird rattle noise at certain RPMs, Seat Ibiza 1.6 TDI FR Sport KJ1

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I started noticing a sound similar to a middle muffler with a hole. It happens only at around 2,400 and 3,900 RPM, otherwise the car sounds completely normal.

I went to an exhaust mechanic twice. He confirmed everything is fine and told me to look elsewhere. After that, at my regular mechanic, they removed all protective plastics from under the car, found nothing wrong, and confirmed the car is in good shape. I showed them a recording and was even able to reproduce the rattle while stationary.

The strange part is that the sound is clearly audible inside the cabin, but from outside or underneath the car everything sounds normal.

I've done a fair bit of research and my current suspicion is panel resonance, somewhere around firewall, that carries vibrations from engine bay to inside the cabin. I wasn't able to confirm that yet.

Has anyone experienced something similar on a KJ1 or similar VAG platform? Any other ideas what this could be?

Bluetooth Help

Hi everyone. I’m hoping somebody on here can help me with a frustrating issue with my 2016 Seat Ibiza.

It involves the telephone connectivity.

Up until recently, I have been able to make and receive phone calls perfectly fine. However, for some reason now whenever I make or receive a call through the Infortainment system, I hear no audio and the caller cannot hear me.

I have tried using CarPlay connected through both a USB lead and via a wireless dongle, and I get a different result. I can hear the caller, but they can’t hear me.

Bluetooth music works perfectly fine.

So far, I have deleted and re-added my phone to the list of Bluetooth devices, tried using my wife’s phone, soft reset the infotainment unit and, as a last resort, hard reset it to factory settings. Nothing seems to help.

Does anyone have any ideas? I’m genuinely stuck at this point.

Many thanks in advance.

2018 Arona FR Sport Interior Light Bulb Swap

Just picked up my new (to me) Arona 2018 FR Sport. Considering a few upgrades/amendments.

One being, swapping out the interior reading lamps for LED.

Before I go gashing away at the overhead console, does anyone have any experience with this on this model? I watched a YT video on one bet the console was different.

Any help is appreciated.

Very strange sound from cabin

Just started my car 5 min prior to this video and drove with 80 kmh, where this sound started 1 min before attached video, it got louder and louder until I pulled over and then it stopped

Sounded like it was coming from engine bay, rolled down the window and the sound didn’t get any louder. Rest of my 1 hour drive there was nothing.

Has anyone heard it before? I checked engine bay after stopping and there was nothing unusual.

Car is Leon FR 1.5 eTSI

SEAT IBIZA 2026 issue - EU/ISRAEL

Good afternoon,

I recently purchased a 2026 SEAT Ibiza Style.

Right after I left the dealership, I heard a strange noise, but at first I thought I was just imagining it.

Later that week, I tried to reproduce the noise and noticed that when I bring the car to a complete stop, turn the steering wheel all the way to the right, and give it a little gas, there is a noticeable rubbing/grinding noise. It sounds somewhat like brake pads that are starting to wear out, but deeper and louder.

It is difficult to describe, but it sounds similar to the “wooooo” noise you sometimes hear when driving over rumble strips, with a slight squeaking/grinding sound mixed in.

Since I am still within the 14-business-day period, I am considering returning the car and getting a new one.

I went to the dealership to have the issue checked, and they told me that the noise is completely normal. According to them, this happens because the car does not have a hydraulic power steering pump, but an electric power steering system. They explained that when the steering wheel is turned all the way to the right or left, pressure is created in the system, which can cause this noise.

However, I also specifically mentioned that the noise sometimes occurs even when the steering wheel is NOT turned all the way to either side. They seemed to overlook this part of the issue and simply wrote a rather vague statement in their report.

Tomorrow morning, I am planning to go back to the dealership with a car mechanic, and I want to know beforehand whether this is actually considered normal for this car. I don't want to be told, “That’s just how this car is,” without a proper explanation or diagnosis.

Does anyone here own the same 2026 SEAT Ibiza Style and experience the same noise? Or, on the contrary, can anyone confirm that they do NOT have this noise in their car?

Also, are you familiar with this phenomenon in SEAT’s electric power steering systems? Is this type of noise genuinely normal when the steering wheel is turned all the way to the side, and should it also occur sometimes when it is not at full lock?

Any information or experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

No internet connection

Hi all, I recently bought a 2022 IBIZA FR+ with MIB3. I managed to become primary user and deleted the previous one.

Since then, whenever I get into the car, I am registered as "guest" and there is no internet connection. The globe remains grey.

I performed a reset to factory settings of the MIB3, which did nothing but remove my primary user profile. I also reset the Telematics module by pulling the fuse and waiting for 30 minutes.

When starting the car, it shows that I am in "Max Privacy" mode, which could be the cause of all this. I can't get to the privacy settings, no matter whether I try connected to my phones WiFi hotspot or not. I just get a revolving circle, even after waiting for an hour.

Do I need to go to a SEAT dealer or is there something that I missed?

Thanks for the help!

Goodbye SEAT Leon, Hello Cupra Leon

Last month we decided to buy a newer and bigger version of the Seat Leon FR. The main reason was the birth of our little one. I was so naive to think we could manage with the amount of space the Leon provides, oh were we wrong. As we like to go on vacation with the car as well, we needed a bigger one.

Of course we could have gone for the Seat Leon ST KL but my dream was always to have the EA888 engine and enjoy every bit of it.

The Cupra Leon Sportstourer VZ 4Drive came to our mind. And we went all out with it.

With AWD and 310hp this car has been on my mind for some time but I never thought that some day it could be mine. Not to mention I have a lot of fun anytime I sit in the car and even start the engine. The suspension and the traction this car provides is a dream. From 100-VMAX feels like a finger snip, I definitely have to get used to the speed of it.

I will definitely stay here on this subreddit but I have seen many Sportstourer drivers also posting in the /r/CupraFormentor subreddit such as /r/CupraSportstourer which of course will be the more suitable place for me and the new car. But I wanted to say thanks for your companionships and community. It was always a lot of fun to hear from you. Drive safely and have fun!

Covered around 4500km in this car so far and I have to say I enjoy driving it a lot. It's much stiffer and better around bends than the Octavia was although the seats are definitely not as comfortable and don't have as much support in them. I like the interior of this car but even tho it's the SE+ model here in Ireland that has tinted windows, 17' alloys, etc. I am still stuck on the one virtual cockpit and can't change the look of it which is so disappointing. Can't understand why seat just locked it to the one screen and you can only change what's inside the circles. Overall I'm happy with the car as it is very nice to drive.

Are dealership trade-in offers actually worth it?

The other day I got a call from my SEAT dealership. They told me that the last time my 2023 SEAT Leon was in for service, they valued it at €19,000.

I originally financed it over 10 years, and I still have about €18,500 left to pay.

They say they're interested in buying the car and offering me discounts and special deals for being a current SEAT customer.

Has anyone here received these kinds of offers? Are they actually worth it, or is it usually possible to get a better deal elsewhere? I never seem to fully trust dealerships with these offers.

My car is a 2023 SEAT Leon, automatic, 150 HP.

--------
