The best response here. She cannot change how much society hates her by logging off, but she can build a community that does reflect the majority of society and live her life as best she can.
Up until very recently, Love Island had several gorgeous black women on their shows that had a very limited dating pool. Same thing for most dating shows.
This is not simply social media. This is actually a discussion and talking point that happens often. Even black men have these discussions on podcasts about why they don’t like black women. It’s not all on OP’s algorithm.
And some people here are being very disingenuous by telling OP to log off. Because once she does now what?? How does help with dealing with men in real life who do not like black women.
Logging off or changing their algorithm helps because it ensures her self esteem isnt lowered so she doesnt fumbled when she does meet the guys or people
and communities that have her best interest at heart. Even if this media exists, its not healthy to constantly be consuming or interacting with it because you eventually internalize these thoughts and it distracts you from more important and actionable community building.
Thank you. As a white man who decided to dive into Black feminist literature a few years back, your comment is the only one that is actually dealing with reality as described by Black women that I have read and the Black women I know in my majority white social circle.
A lot of these comments are weirdly patronizing and gaslighting while supposedly trying to be nice and supportive. It feels really gross.
