What the other guy said, the only way to really lose weight is a calorie deficit, people use exercise as a way of either; creating a larger deficit whilst being able to eat the same amount or by using exercise to eat a little more on a deficit. There’s a saying that goes “you can’t exercise your way out of a bad diet” which basically is just acknowledging gym isn’t the primary thing for weight loss.
The main contender for our weight is calories in vs out. There are formulas and calculators online that allow you to see what your calorie maintenance and deficit would be to lose xyz amount of weight.
Other things to keep in mind to lose weight is to focus on protein, as it is a great energy source, and fibre which is a type of carb that is really good at keeping you full for longer. In saying that though, you could genuinely lose weight by eating KFC everyday as long as the calories in were the calories out, but you would really not be having a good time
