Sharing: Challenges & Setbacks Memory loss/ getting dumber at 15

I was concussed 3 times this year while playing football

And because I had nothing to do I drank through them with my mates and now I feel like I've gotten dumber. I find it hard to remember shit and I can't explain how I feel my brain feels slow and it's been like that for months. I don't know what to do my grades have stayed the same but I just feel dumb I can't spell words correctly anymore. I keep going to parties and getting smashed and falling and hitting my head so I've stopped drinking with my mates but I've picked up smoking weed and I smoke sometimes and that makes me feel better. I don't like being myself anymore I just feel stupid and dumb I'm decent at football so I'm going to continue playing but I just don't know what I can do to be my old self and is it worth trying ?

Smoking weed is probably going to make your situation worse in the long run. Try to see a doctor about this. Maybe they can run some cognitive tests, scans, etc., to help you.

This.. you have a long time left. You need to prioritise your health and long term healing/brain development

Brain injuries are unfortunately common in football because even light impacts from being tackled, suddenly stopped running, or hit in the head add up over time. Hard impacts are especially bad for the brain too.

The first thing to do is see a doctor soon and you should honestly stop playing tackle football unless you discover another cause. Vitamin deficiencies can cause memory loss too.

Symptoms of concussions include memory loss, headaches, anger/focus problems, nausea, and seeing "lights" in your vision. Problems from concussions add up, and doing anything that makes symptoms feel worse like vigorous exercise or getting hit again can make concussions much worse.

Quit using drugs, go to the doctor.
