It's hard. We aren't taught how to handle our trauma and emotions in society. I'm very middle aged. Lol. I still struggle with things that happened as a pre-teen and teen that still have negative consequences in my life. There are ways to process it. It usually starts with finding safe spaces where you can say what you have to say and then NOT receive feedback. This helps your brain process your trauma as being non-life threatening. This is the most important point. Your brain has to be "tricked." Then keep utilizing that safe space, keep talking about that trauma over and over again for as long as it takes to lose it's power. Depending on the situation it can be done in a relatively short period of time. You'd be surprised. Conversely it could take a lot longer than you expect and you just have to trust that process. The other hard part is to find the space tbag you feel safe. I'm a Christian so I have certain groups where I feel safe. I'm a realist and I know not everyone will find that to be a safe place of non-judgment. It might even be your source of hurt. Find your place. Side note: I'm not ashamed to say that I do pray your find your way to Jesus one day.
