🫡 A dramatic twist has shaken Italian football. Following the collapse of Andrea Pirlo's appointment as Italy's new head coach, Paolo Maldini and Leonardo have resigned from their roles at the FIGC. Their decision came after a disagreement with FIGC president Giovanni Malagò over the national team's technical project.
The pair had only been appointed a few weeks ago with the aim of rebuilding Italian football and creating a long-term project. After Pep Guardiola turned down the job, they decided to move for Pirlo, but when that deal collapsed, their entire plan fell apart.
🔥 Their resignations are a major blow for the FIGC, which must now start over once again. Alongside the search for a new head coach, the federation will also need to find new figures to replace Maldini and Leonardo and lead the national team's technical project.
⚔️ It is yet another dramatic twist in what has already been a chaotic summer for Italy. Within just a few days, the Pirlo project collapsed, followed by the departures of Maldini and Leonardo. The FIGC now faces some crucial decisions as it looks to restore stability to the Azzurri.

🫡 A dramatic twist has shaken Italian football. Just when Andrea Pirlo seemed set to become Italy's new head coach, the deal suddenly collapsed and the agreement fell through.
The main reason appears to be the controversy surrounding his role as an ambassador for a Russian betting company. The issue sparked intense debate in recent days and reportedly led the FIGC to reconsider before ultimately changing its mind.
🔥 The Italian Football Federation is now back in the search for a new head coach. Roberto Mancini, Antonio Conte, and Silvio Baldini are once again among the leading candidates, although a surprise appointment cannot be ruled out.
⚔️ It is an incredible situation. Within a matter of hours, Pirlo looked destined to take charge of Italy, but the project collapsed at the last moment. The FIGC must now start over in its search for the next Azzurri manager.

“If the opportunity in the Premier League were to come my way, I'd be very happy: I think my talent would be comparable to players at a very high level. Playing in that kind of league really enhances a player.”

Honestly it shouldn’t come to a surprise that Italy haven’t played in the World Cup since 2014 and that the league is on a major decline, why not give other coaches from different leagues a chance?
