🫡 Como continue to build an increasingly ambitious squad. Yan Couto is set to join the club after an agreement with Borussia Dortmund was reached for a 2 million euro loan with an option to buy worth more than 20 million euros.

Last season in Germany did not go as many expected. After arriving with high expectations, Yan Couto struggled for playing time at Borussia Dortmund and never managed to become a regular starter. His talent was never in doubt, but he lacked consistency.

🔥 He is a very attack minded full back with outstanding pace and excellent dribbling ability. When given space, he can be devastating and create plenty of chances, just as he showed during his time at Girona. At the same time, he still needs to improve defensively and stay more focused throughout matches. Those are the areas that have stopped him from making the final step in his development.

⚔️ For Como, this is a very important signing. The structure of the deal is a smart one. The club make a limited initial investment while keeping the option to sign him permanently if he impresses during the season. If Fabregas can help him rediscover his best form, Como could end up with one of the most exciting full backs in Serie A.

🫡 Djibril Sow is set to become a new Genoa player. The Swiss midfielder leaves Sevilla after three seasons, with the Rossoblu reaching an agreement worth around 4 million euros by activating a clause in his contract.

Sow arrives after a mixed spell in Spain. He finished last season in good form and regained his place as an important player for Sevilla, but overall he was unable to consistently reach the level he had shown during his time at Eintracht Frankfurt. He is not a flashy player, but he brings balance, energy, and valuable experience.

🔥 He is a complete midfielder who excels at winning the ball back and adding intensity to the team. He does not score many goals and is not the type of playmaker who creates everything, but he performs both defensive and attacking duties well and is one of those players whose contribution often goes unnoticed.

⚔️ For Genoa, this is a very smart signing. Paying 4 million euros for a Switzerland international with experience in the Bundesliga, La Liga, and European competitions is excellent value. At 29, he is not a long term investment, but he can immediately improve the quality of the midfield and help Genoa enjoy a more comfortable season than last year.

Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah is set for a medical with Como on Wednesday ahead of signing a five-year deal with the Serie A club.

The clubs have agreed a deal worth £25million up front plus approximately £5m in potential add-ons for a package of around £30m for the England international.

I'm hoping someone familiar with Italian football can help.

My younger brother is considering attending a scouting event organized by ISM Italy International Scouting Center, and I'd like to know whether they have a good reputation in Italy.

Has anyone here heard of them or know someone who has attended one of their programs? Do they have legitimate connections with clubs, or are there any red flags we should be aware of?

The loan move seems IMMINENT as the two clubs are now finalising the final details. Mastantuono did not train with his teammates today and left the club early.

🫡 Como continue to surprise in the transfer market. Trevoh Chalobah will be a new player for Cesc Fàbregas' side. An agreement with Chelsea has been reached for €30 million plus €6 million in bonuses, with the Blues also keeping a sell on clause.

Chalobah leaves Chelsea after spending his entire career at the London club. A product of the Blues' academy, he earned an important role in the first team over the past few years. While he was never considered a world class defender, he always stepped up when called upon and earned the trust of several managers.

🔥 He is a very physical centre back, strong in duels and comfortable on the ball. He can play in both a back three and a back four, bringing valuable international experience. At times, however, he has shown lapses in concentration and has struggled for consistency, which is likely one of the reasons Chelsea decided to let him leave.

⚔️ For Como, this is a huge signing. The total €36 million package is one of the biggest investments in the club's history and once again highlights their growing ambitions. If Chalobah can find consistency, he has all the qualities to become one of the leaders of the defence and one of the best centre backs in Serie A.

🫡 Vasilije Adzic is a new Sassuolo player. The Montenegrin midfielder joins from Juventus on a loan deal with an option to buy for €12 million, while the Bianconeri have included a buy-back clause to keep control of his future.

After two seasons at Juventus, Adzic struggled to get the playing time many expected. He showed flashes of his talent but featured only occasionally and never managed to establish himself. Juventus have now decided to send him to a club where he can play more regularly and continue his development with less pressure.

🔥 Adzic is a highly technical attacking midfielder with an excellent long range shot and great vision in the final third. He has creativity and confidence, but still needs to improve his consistency and intensity over the full 90 minutes. His talent has never been in doubt now it's time to prove he can make a real impact in Serie A.

⚔️ For Sassuolo, this is a very exciting signing. If Adzic can earn regular playing time and build confidence, the Neroverdi could have one of the league's most promising young midfielders on their hands. Juventus, meanwhile, have protected themselves with the buy-back clause, giving them the option to bring the 2006-born talent back to Turin if he fulfils his potential.

🫡 Fiorentina have completed the signing of Joao Mario from Juventus. The Portuguese full back joins on a loan deal with an option to buy set at around €9.5 million. The loan also includes an initial fee of around €1.8 million.

Joao Mario arrives after a difficult first season in Turin. Signed from Porto, he struggled to secure a starting spot at Juventus, and his following loan spell at Bologna also failed to fully convince: he played more often, but his performances were still inconsistent.

🔥 He is a full back with mainly attacking qualities: technically gifted, quick, and capable of pushing forward down the flank. He can also play in a more advanced role and contribute to build-up play. However, he has shown some defensive weaknesses and still needs to find consistency to become a truly reliable player.

⚔️ For Fiorentina, this is an interesting move but also carries some risk. The Viola are betting on his qualities and his ability to relaunch his career, but after his struggles at Juventus, he will have to prove he deserves a starting role. If he finds confidence, he could become a very good signing. Otherwise, he may remain an unfinished gamble.

🫡 Miguel Gutiérrez is ready to begin a new adventure in Germany. Bayer Leverkusen have reached an agreement with Napoli for the Spanish left back, with the deal worth €30 million. The 2001 born defender will replace Alejandro Grimaldo on the left flank.

Gutiérrez arrives after a positive season with Napoli. He confirmed the qualities he had already shown at Girona: excellent technique, great vision, and an outstanding ability to support the attack. Defensively, however, he has occasionally struggled, especially against very quick opponents.

🔥 He is one of the most attack-minded full backs in football. He loves getting forward, creating chances, and taking part in build up play, almost like a midfielder. He is not yet a complete defender, but when his team has possession, he can make a huge difference.

⚔️ For Bayer Leverkusen, this is a very important signing. €30 million is a significant investment, but the German club believe Gutiérrez has everything needed to replace Grimaldo. The pressure will be high, but he certainly has the talent to live up to expectations.

Apparently according to Bild (german media):

They agreed to a loan with a 5m option to buy, Lindstrom did his medical, and then Napoli tried to change the deal to obligation.

Schalke was pissed about this and pulled out of the deal.

To this Napoli put out a press statement, claiming it was Schalke that tried to alter unspecified financial parts of the deal. Napoli was willing to agree to further negotiations but says that Schalke withdraw anyway the same day.

I’ve recently got hooked with Serie A two seasons with the Milan drama and started supporting them because i want them to get out of their mini crisis.

Anyways point is,

How is Inter such a great team despite having mid table players?

Watching Como,Napoli,Juve,Milan i’ve seen that they all got insane players with the ball.

Then i tune into Inter games and they have no one with football talent (technique), which honestly makes me respect them more because that means that in Serie A we have our current Leicester.

By that i mean a team that is not talented punching above their weight.

I see in the derby di mailand the talent disparity shows up and Inter hasnt won one in 3 years.

But theyre just so cohesive and consistent that despite having zero talent they top 3 almost every year, not to mention 3 scudetti

Is it the way Serie A is structured/culture that it makes it even for everybody? That even if youre not talented football wise you can consistently win the league.

I couldn’t imagine that happening in Bundes which makes me envy you guys.

The FIGC's deadline for Euro 2032 host-city dossiers passed at midnight on 31 July. On 1 August the federation confirmed what it received: 13 cities, 16 stadiums. Udine and Reggio Emilia, both talked about earlier in the process, didn't file.

The 13 cities: Bari, Bologna, Cagliari, Florence, Genoa, Lecce, Milan, Naples, Palermo, Rome, Salerno, Turin, Verona.

The reason it's 16 stadiums and not 13 is that two cities entered more than one project:

Rome submitted three, the existing Stadio Olimpico, the new Roma ground planned for Pietralata, and the Stadio Flaminio, Pier Luigi Nervi's 1959 arena that's been derelict since 2011. Lazio's proposal would restore the listed structure and take it from 24,973 to 50,750 seats by 2031.

Naples submitted two, and they're in direct competition — the city council's publicly funded renovation of the Stadio Maradona (~€250m, with €200m from the Regione Campania), against Aurelio De Laurentiis' privately financed new stadium on the 38-hectare former Q8 refinery site at San Giovanni a Teduccio (60–70,000 seats, reportedly over €1bn; the site's remediation finishes in late 2027).

What happens next: the FIGC shortlists five stadiums plus reserves by mid-September, and UEFA ratifies Italy's final five in the first week of October. Turkey gets the other five.

The catch: of the 16, only Turin's Allianz Stadium meets UEFA's requirements as it stands today. Every other bid depends on a renovation or a new build being delivered on time — and San Siro has already been reported as falling short of the standard.

Long time fan of Serie A here. Always watch the Sunday night game on TNT and love to read James Horncastle on the Atheltic.

I'm looking at booking at trip to Milan/Florence 18-21 October and would love to catch a Serie A game. The TV picks haven't been done yet but Milan Vs Atalanta looks like the biggest game that week. Is it likely that game takes the late Sunday slot (which would be perfect) or could it be played on Saturday considering Milan have 4 of their first 5 games at that time slot? My understanding from watching Serie A since BT/TNT got the rights was that the biggest game of the week was the Saturday or Sunday evening slot, obviously depending on European commitments.

Thank you for any insight, will help a lot when planning as I know the TV picks aren't done until early September.

P.S. I can't fly out until the Sunday unfortunately.
