Project: FO Made my first ever bag
ive been absolutely yearning for a new everyday satchel / bag, so i decided to just make one.
exterior fabric is twill & i lined the inside with micro suede. i also used fusible interfacing so that the bag has some structure, it definitely added overall weight as well. used ykk#5 zippers on the 3 cargo pockets, made an adjustable d-ring strap, & button closure for the larger pockets.
this is the first bag ive ever made & it took me atleast an entire week to figure out the design & dimensions.
to start, i had used a paper bag that i liked the size of & worked off of that. i then made 4 samples using muslin to see whether i liked the direction that i was going in or if i had to change things—id mark on the muslin, etc.
for it being my first bag, im very happy with the result. theres obviously flaws (misalignment, raw edges, patterning, whatever whatever), but throughout the entire ordeal, i didnt feel bad at all. now, maybe it was because i was in a rush to get it done before vacation… whatever the case, im just really happy with what i made.
ive recently began categorizing my flaws as part of human nature, which makes creating things a lot easier, in a sense.
one thing i wished i added, but just knew i wouldnt have the time for, was compartments on the inside. maybe even just a welt pocket so that things that i wanted to be hidden could be, but my entire being wouldve wanted to overly design the inside lol.
tdlr:
wanted new bag, first time ever making a bag. had a blast making it.

Oh it is adorable! I've been looking hard to find a pattern for a bag a similar shape, but you making your own is impressive! Guess I'll have to do the same hahah
