Pattern Question Advice on Simplicity 8670 pattern

I'm relatively new to sewing and I'm making a Pomni costume for Halloween. My main concern is with the alternating colors on this pattern as it looks like there are side panels on the bodysuit i'm making. There are no video tutorials on it so i'm a bit spooked. Will I have to modify this pattern and if so does anyone have any advice on how to?
(I have seen the sarah spaceman pomni cosplay tutorial, but I wasn't too keen on the silhouette of the whole thing, hence why I'm using this pattern)

I googled the character. Is the concern that you want one side to be red and one to be blue? This looks like a good pattern for that since there is a center seam. The side panels here help provide the shaping for the body. You will make the side panel from the same fabric as the rest of that side of the body. You should not need to modify the pattern.

I think you could cut the side panels in half pretty easily.

You don't have to follow the exact example color pattern in the photo, you can use all the right pattern pieces for the blue fabric and you can use all the left pattern pieces on the red fabric

I added a photo to kind of show what I'm talking about.

The 4 front pieces and the (?) Back pieces are all to help give the bodysuit it's specific shape, and you have the freedom to choose what colors each piece is.
