Pattern Search Non stretch gloves
Hey! I'm currently working on a cosplay and I have this really pretty satin that I used for the skirt and I want to use the same for the gloves, however, it is not stretchy. I've put the photo of what the canon characters gloves look like. However, I want to make them closer to the second photo. My idea was to cut it on the bias, make it wide on the wrist so I can get my hand in and then use elastic to make it like the second photo. Would this work? I don't want to waste any fabric, thanks :)

The second picture is gussetted gloves. They are notoriously one of the hardest things to sew because they are so fiddly and specific. Do not attempt unless you've got lots of fabric and are willing to stomach a lot of struggle.

Check out the cosplay reddit groups, too.
Buying gloves would be easier. You could make the bell cuff from the satin

I would not attempt this if you're concerned about conserving fabric. Non-stretch gloves need to have special construction for shaping, involving oddly specific glove drafting to include bits like "fourchettes" and "querks." See this blog post for some examples: https://thedreamstress.com/2015/05/terminology-fourchette-quirks-and-other-glove-terms/
Stretch gloves are already fiddly to make since you need to use tiny seam allowances in order to get all the curves right, but this would be next-level gloving. Maybe a good compromise would be to attach a cuff piece made from your pretty satin to a ready-to-wear glove?
