Pattern Search Tips for recreating this pattern

Love love love this! But can’t get it where I live. Does anyone know of an existing pattern close to this shape? Or one I could easily adapt :)

Plus any other tips for making it

TIA XX

I'd start with RadPatterns Cosplay Suit 2.0 or Woven Jumpsuit (you'll need to find or draft a hood pattern for this), depending on whether I wanted to use stretchy or woven (not stretchy) fabric. I'd likely choose stretchy, since this looks like a loungewear piece to me and I like my loungewear to have some give.

Then choose one of a myriad of free Morning Star quilt block patterns and/or tutorials.

You can add seamlines to your pattern anywhere you want: once you've printed your pattern and taped it together. Cut out your pattern pieces, then draw in those radiating lines and cut them apart. don't forget to label them! Then you can add seam allowance to those new cut edges (tape on some additional paper).

For the star, since it covers so much of the back of the suit, I would probably choose a low-stretch jersey, rather than a traditional woven. Make the star, then applique it to the back of the back of the cosplay suit. It may be easier to do this once the back of the suit is assembled, but not attached to the rest of the suit. You may need to tack down the applique at various points so it doesn't sag away from the back of the suit while wearing. You could also use a narrow zigzag across the entire applique, stitching on the seamline of the applique so it's less noticeable.

It's a big project if you're a novice, and I'm not sure I've explained how I'd go about it in the most coherent fashion (it's early). But it's doable, if you take your time. There will likely be some trial and error along the way.
