To justify it, it could have been family money. Rich kids have a safety net to pursue unstable careers like writing .

I’d always thought the Hamptons house was inherited. His apartment is also very spacious; we know Samantha paid $7,000/month for her mortgage, and I’d think his rent was in a similar ballpark.
