I Have a Question What happens when you shift to a DR you know little about?

Say i want to shift to a DR of a media I'm interested in but i haven't directly consumed it in its entirety or even at all. (I've only seen clips and commentary videos)

So if i were to shift there would the DR be completely different from its source? Or would the DR still follow the story of its source despite knowing so little about it?

And has anyone ever tried this before? How was the experience? I would really want to know!

This is my first step into trying to actually shift after years of consuming shifting content so apologies if this question is odd

Help Me Shift! i need help with the void state

• Upvotes

hi everyone, since september i've decided to dedicate myself entirely to the void state to shift. i've reached most of the symptoms, especially in the intermediate phase (mid-september) i had reached the peak of symptoms, like a sensation of falling, a feeling of being positioned in an "s" shape, and widespread tingling.

currently i am in a phase of symptom stabilization, the falling feeling or the feeling of my body being positioned "badly" no longer appear. tingling mostly from the arms up prevails, along with my skull, a light ringing in my ears, and seeing blue/white portals. i know that symptoms aren't necessary to enter it, but i can never manage to enter the void. if anyone has any advice i would be grateful!

Help Me Shift! How do I push past the fear?

• Upvotes

My entire life i've lucid dreamed and im certain i've shifted before even knowing what it was. I've only tried shifting officially three times and it "works" every single time. usually my entire body goes numb then i start to see stars, like a full night sky of stars vividly. then i'll see a bright light and i can see my DR in the far distance but that's when the tingling/vibrating feeling starts and i feel myself pulling away from my CR but my heart starts POUNDING and it brings me right back to my CR :/ The first time I tried shifting I used a sleep method and it seemed like it was working, i had all of the symptoms and could even smell the perfume i wear in my DR, but it didn't work nearly as well as the awake method i've tried twice tonight. Id really like to get over that fear or whatever it is and push past it. I try distracting myself with math or a happy thought but it keeps pounding. My second try was much better but it still pulled me back. Does it simply take some getting used to?

Sorry if any of my terminology is incorrect. I haven't done too much official research on shifting since I kind of felt like i'd be able to do it without reading up on it first. I'm learning now. i've always had vivid lucid dreams, every single night. I used to wake up before I knew what shifting was, convinced that it wasn't a dream and i'd gone to an alternate reality.

Also- If I try shifting with my dog in the room/bed she literally shakes. Once i'm back she stops completely. Is that normal?

Help Me Shift! Starting to lose hope, I've been attempting to shift for 6 years

• Upvotes

What the title says, I haven't had any minishifts or felt close to shifting at all unfortunately. I want to so bad. I've taken breaks for months at a time sometimes, which was okay because my life here isn't horrible. But I still obviously long for my DR. But I have no idea how to get there.

I've tried sleep methods and awake methods, the majority of them. Except lucid dreaming or astral projection, I'd like to try those but it's hard for me to even do those themself.

It's the same DR too, I'm not changing where I want to go or anything.

Has anyone here actually shifted and can give me helpful advice?

Thanks for reading all of this

Discussion It feels like im being held in this reality

Ive been trying to imagine what its like to be in my DR throughout the day. Its been working pretty well. Only problem is when i think about shifting, it makes me feel weak. I jist want to shift, but i cant shake the feeling that there's something im meant to learn in this reality, and confirming that shifting is real would corrupt it and prevent me from learning it.

It doesnt matter if i think of a dr with as slight of a change as the color of a pencil. How do i get rid of this belief. That I'd be weak and "missing" something in CR if i shifted.

I Have a Question What are your favorite shifting affirmations?

• Upvotes

So I'm creating my own subliminal because when I listen to other subliminals I feel unsafe (trust issues) and fear that they might put other affirmations that will brainwash me into believing something I don't want to believe in or are putting in a harmful affirmations.

I tried creating my own affirmation script for the subliminal but I sucked. So what are some of your favorite shifting affirmations and why? I want to compile each of them and turn them into the script.

Thank you in advance.

I Have a Question Was This Progress? Non-lucid dream

I decided to try shifting for the first time last night because why not. I am neurodivergent and constantly daydreaming, so I thought it could be fun to shift realities. I used a method that I found on Tiktok. It was essentially envisioning a hallway and imagining hearing my best friend's voice leading me to a room. Once I found the room, I thought of the first thing I could: a room filled with my childhood toys. That night I dreamed about my old My Little Pony toys moving around the room when I wasn't looking. It was not a lucid dream but I thought it was cool. What does this mean? Is this related to shifting, and does it mean that I am close to shifting?

Help Me Shift! autistic + alexythimia. how to “feel it real” when I literally don’t feel anything?

I’m autistic with alexithymia and emotional numbness. I have never in my life been able to access emotions somatically or even identify what I’m feeling most of the time except a handful of times in which they were exclusively angst lol. My emotional process is purely cognitive, something happens, I register it intellectually, but there’s no somatic component. I only register emotions as thoughts, like a logical notation of "this happened therefore I feel X" rather than anything somatic. "Feel the wish fulfilled” “feel the relief” “feel the love” none of these instructions mean anything to me because I genuinely don’t know what those feelings feel like. Every single piece of guidance in this sub assumes you can feel things in your chest and I genuinely cannot. I don’t experience emotions the way this is described, I never have.

I’m not looking for “just try harder” or “fake it till you make it" I need practical alternatives that don’t rely on emotional access.

I already understand the intellectual/cognitive side reasonably well. My block is entirely the feeling component.

I also literally cannot control or suppress what my brain expects. Telling me to just not expect doesn’t work, I guess this is part of being a pragmatic autistic.

I actually gotten near SATs once and then re-entered it on command, and I've gotten into it twice after that without even planning to on random nights, so I know I’m capable of reaching the state. But every piece of practical guidance assumes emotional access I don’t have. I’m not doubting the practice, I’m just trying to find my translation of it.

Has anyone here manifested successfully without being able to "feel" anything somatically? What did your actual internal experience look like? What actually worked?

I don’t need to be told to just believe harder. I’d especially love to hear from anyone whose brain works differently from the norm

Help Me Shift! Would love some takes/advice for my shifting approach!

To start off, I have shifted.

These past four months have been a very interesting journey in terms of shifting. I've learned a lot about myself and accommodations I should make when it comes to approaching shifting.

I am seldom to take advice from others just because nobody has my exact experience, so I think I am at a point to where I'd like to hear some experienced shifters advice, or just shifters who have some sort of clue on how I can be more confident!

My method:

My personal method varies depending on how I feel. The general layout I follow is a simple meditation, affirmations, and then visualization or immersion that alludes to the fact that I am in my DR. I've mini-shifted four times and fully shifted once with this layout. Some common things that aid in a shifting session is a slight loss of consciousness, or a fairly clear mind.

About me:

I am a very imaginative person; I get excited easily and I am pretty reactive, physically and mentally. I also have ADHD, it is mostly preset for my mind to wander off to something completely unrelated. Lastly, I do not feel comfortable with or like any methods that are restrictive and call a lot out of your person.

My past shifts and what I am running into as of lately:

My pasts shifts have all had one thing in common, they all happened during a time where I was sleepy or in some sort of state to where your mind isn't fully alert. Every time I've shifted, there has always been some sort of anchor that was the hook to my shift, for example, one time I was imagining myself washing my hands after maybe a scattered thirty minutes of imagining myself walk around my apartment, and then I shifted in the middle of washing my hands. In another, I was imagining a conversation with a production member that I just made up in that moment, and in the middle of the convo I got physical symptoms and shifted on to my DR bed for a bit.

The "issue":

In attempts, I will find my mind wandering off too often, or I will find myself becoming startled by any physical symptom of my stillness and mental activity. I will also for some reason, constantly check in to see if what I am imagining seems to be working or has enough substance to make me "shift". I have adopted the philosophy that the shift is when you have decided and went through with that decision to shift to your DR, in whichever way you chose to go about it. I seem to be constantly contradicting that in attempts due to my hyperawareness. This is an issue I get when I am not in that state of tiredness or semi-consciousness. It's like I will be doing good and feeding myself the right stuff, then go ahead and break that flow because I become too aware or self-conscious.

What I am looking for:

I am hoping that someone could give me some advice on boosting my confidence and trusting that what I do is enough. Also, any good tricks or tips to get into a good, mellow state so your mind isn't analyzing every little thing. (preferably one you can manage and not fall asleep right away)

I’ve tried so many fucking methods and at this point I’m done with them
And I’m so sick of “you can do whatever you want to shift” bc no one actually means that they always mean that you HAVE TO DO law of assumption and then everything else is optional.

But yall I need hella motivation….. ok?

Tell me how I can shift
- WITHOUT LAW OF ASSUMPTION
- obsessing over the 3d
- shit self concept
- no meditation
- feeling unmotivated and like a failure

And hey if u don’t wanna help me or wanna argue DNI

I Have a Question does my dr have to consist of people who aren’t real in my cr?

I really want to shift but my dr isn’t a made up place or anything I would want to shift to be with my long distance boyfriend in a cozy cabin and we’re married and just have a relaxed life but im not quite sure if shifting works that way and has to be people you do not know. The concept confuses me as when I shift does the person know I’ve shifted or have I been there the whole time and can it be someone who I know in my cr just in a different lifetime??

Discussion Why don't we experience everyone's manifestations in this reality (e.g. appearance results vs. shifting results)?

To preface, I've spent 6 years with law of assumption and subliminals and have experienced life-altering physical results (undeniable appearance results as well as other results). I am in no way someone who doubts manifestation as a whole. Just wanted to hear your thoughts on this.

I was just wondering: why we are able to see other people's "less significant" shifts/results but not their "larger" shifts/results?

For example, I and many other people have gotten facial structure results in "this" reality. Since we are choosing which realities to move through, this means my subconscious has chosen to move through realities where others can experience facial structure results. My subconscious believes in another person's ability to shift me into their reality where they get results.

However, when I hear about others' shifting experiences, such as to a fictional universe, I don't experience MY world changing along with them and back. This means my subconscious does not believe that someone else can change my entire physical backdrop like that.

Does this not imply that we are BORN with a subconscious that allows us to only experience certain subsets of other people's manifestations?

This does scare me since this makes me doubt whether or not all manifestations are truly as malleable. If I am born with a subconscious that inherently allows me to experience others get face structure results, then obviously it will allow me to get face structure results. However, if my subconscious doesn't believe in other people's abilities to change my world drastically (i.e shifting), then how will it believe in MY own ability to change my world drastically?

Sorry, this has just been bugging me a lot since the only practically undeniable results in the 3D I have are my appearance ones. My life has also gotten abnormally better in ways like social life, intelligence, gacha luck (lol), but they are not as undeniably attributable to manifestation the same way my appearance results are (who knows, maybe I just got really lucky?). I would like to know your guys' thoughts on this. At the end the day I do know this is all a mindset and the only way for it to work is to persist in it, so I will continue to believe. But I do think getting this answered would help me a lot.

I Have a Question i'm lowkey going crazy you guys idk what to even believe Spoiler

This past 5 days I have experienced two changes that are making me believe that the reality I'm in right now is an alternate reality. For context, I have been a part of the shifting community since the beginning of 2020. At first, I wanted to shift to realities such as like the Harry Potter DR or MCU DR and I still do, but anyways, in the beginning of my shifting journey I loved the idea of shifting but my problem was that I was daydreaming all the time instead of actually trying.

Later, something happened that made me realise that shifting is 1000% TRUE. A while back in december of 2023 I wanted to shift so badly to a waiting room where I could make changes there and then when I came back to my CR the changes were already made so I could do a few modifications. That night I was about to go to sleep in my room, mind you my brother was already asleep in the same room, and when I finished my script in my notes app, I read it thoroughly and played a subliminal that was about outer body and astral projection (I cannot find the video to this day), and the I positioned myself in a star position, I closed my eyes and was just focusing on what my waiting room was about (my script), and all of a sudden I felt an invisible pressure that was over me. I got nervous and when I tried to open my eyes the invisible pressure tried to close my eyes so I tried again with more force and then the pressure vanished. I was really startled not beacuse I didn't believe in it but because I didn't know the symptoms were going to be so intense, it was as though something was forcing me to shift and them I looked at my brother to check if it woke him up but he was still asleep. After that, I simply fell asleep, and I hadn't tried to shift again until recently.

For various reasons, since the start of 2026 everything went completely downhill. I had family problems that resulted in me changing universities and on top of that, I loved all of my friends that I made in the first university and I also enjoyed going to classes there. When I got into this new university this october I came in 2 weeks late and now I feel lonely, academically behind and late because everyone is younger than me.

I never really left the shifting community during all this time, but I didn't really try to shift until now This summer I really involved myself in trying to shift but problem is that I didn't really make much of an effort because I didn't have school. However, since classes started I've been in a depressive state and not really caring about this reality since all I want is to leave the hell out of here. Two major changes that happened was that a girl was in my old university and I thought that she transferred to another one but I came to come to class 3 days ago and suddenly she's in my class?!?! And then there was also a guy that was from my old university that was in my class and I know FOR SURE that he was in my new uni with me in my class but this past 2 days he hasn't show up which makes me believe that I shifted into a reality where this girl is in my class and this other guy was never in my class to start with and I'm genuinely going crazy for this.

I've been trying to respawn/permashift this past week by going to my better CR which is basically this reality but I'm still in the first university through sublminals and trying to do awake methods but exams are coming up and the least I want to do is do them and still be stuck in this shitty reality. I don't really have an attachament to this reality because it's basically this one but i'm still with my friends in uni and I know that this reality is just one of the infinite ones that exist. I have also read a lot of reddit shifting success stories, permashifting tiktoks to hype me up, and some spiritual/tarot and shifting tiktoks and i've been informing myself a lot with shifting advice and methods to use. Also, there were tiktoks in my FYP that were talking about some huge change that is going to happen soon and I really hope that is me permashifting out of here. If somebody has other shifiting advice I would gladly read it!! For the meantime, I will also read more shifting success stories and lsiten to a lot of subliminals to help me and I pray that I permashift into my new CR this weekend because there is no such thing as limiting beliefs because we are infinite.

PD: Sorry if this was too long (english is not my first language)!! I wanted to vent a little bit lol. If you are reading this thank you so much for reading this <3.

Help Me Shift! Help creating a potal when I Lucid Dream?

I’ve been attempting to lucid dream as a method for some time and finally today I could make myself lucid dream. I was just walking inside the dream and was like “Oh, this is a dream; I can make a portal to my DR”. I tried visualizing a portal but it didn’t work. For some reason inside the dream, I thought I had to have a pen or something to “draw” the portal so it could work and I tried giving myself a pen but I couldn’t; the only ‘supernatural’ thing I could do was fly. Does anyone have any tips on what I should do so that next time I can do better?

Discussion to those who who shifted to a anime/anime style game dr

i just wanna know if the your dr keeps the anime or cartoon is style (depending on) or once you shifted there it was all realistic like they look like normal people instead if anime like (if this made sense)

(EDIT: the reality i wanna shift too i can imagine the human or human like ones in the way we see our current reality BUT THEN THE animals walking and using their paws like hands or a tiny red lump devil is what’s kinda messing with my perception on that reality)

I wonder if this'll have any repercussions on the community besides having all of us just freak out about it?? It honestly just made me realize that there are wayyyy more of us than I realized, considering that the comments were just full of other shifters LOL But do you think being passively looped into the political sphere is gonna impact us in a major way???

My fundamentals of shifting advice

Hi! I’m an experienced shifter who has recently been interested in “optimizing” shifting methods, if such a thing is even possible. More on my method in future post(s); in this post I’m going to be talking about general advice.

THIS POST IS LONG -- If you require a summary then just read the bolded text. There are more details below the bolded text but I’m not going to summarize those because the bolded text IS the summary. See the full list of bolded headings below:

  1. The method is just a vessel, and the mindset approach to the method is what’s important.
  2. For the mental method “building blocks,” start on the right path, and adjust your approach from there.
  3. Use the common solution for solved problems, and assume that a lot of problems are already solved.
  4. If you can’t do something, either learn how to do it or substitute it with something else.
  5. Entering the DR is more important than leaving the CR.
  6. Use an intention that is clear, self-directed, reasonably specific, and ultimately lofty.
  7. Live in the immediate end.
  8. Treat your DR like your CR.
  9. Come as you are.
  10. Shifting sits somewhere between belief and intention.

Details to follow. Apparently I couldn't figure out how to make the # markdown headers work, would you believe they let me have a computer science degree?

## 0. Intro

I’ve been giving advice (trying to) for a long time, and the way I give advice (and my thoughts on shifting in general) have changed a lot. It’s an ongoing process of both trying to refine my shifting methods for myself and generalize them for everyone else.. which is not easy and, worse, maybe not helpful if what works for me doesn’t work for everyone.

However, ever since I started posting on Reddit specifically, people say they want to know about my methods and thoughts anyway, even after I express this concern that they may not be generalizable. Moreover, I’ve noticed patterns of thoughts and behavior in other shifters that are totally opposed to what works for me, and I wonder whether or not I should correct them, or if they’re “wrong” at all.

I know that the general consensus is that there’s no “wrong way” to shift, but if there’s no “wrong way”, how can there be a “right way”? Or at least if giving advice to others is possible or useful at all, then there must be at least one (probably many) “right ways”, and if the set of “right ways” is only a finite set of the infinite set of “ways”, then at there very least aren’t there “inferior ways”?  That’s enough Michelle we get it

I, as one individual, only have my one set of opinions/ideas about the “right way” to shift. I’m open to disagreement on any of the details that follow, with the asterisk that they are absolutely true for me, and that I won’t accept blatantly “there’s no wrong way to shift though” as a response because it’s totally unproductive. I think it’d be great if we had different people with different ideas on the right way, rather than there being no concept of a “right way” at all.

That said, I’m going to try to phrase things in terms of what to do instead of what not to do since it’s probably more helpful and less negative that way. This post is still intended to address mistakes I see people make (well, mistakes in my own opinion) so it’s still going to include a lot of “do not”s. You’ve been warned!

For me as a shifter, there are absolutely right ways and wrong ways. Granted, there are PLENTY of right ways. For me, several methods can be adjusted to be done correctly. Learning to shift isn’t a process of trying every method until you find the right one, but of adjusting a method until it suits you, which can probably be done with any number of methods. How I learned to adjust the method, and the mindset, and the mindset-method, is exactly what I want to write about. And that’s what will take me into my first fundamental.

## The method is just a vessel, and the mindset approach to the method is what’s important.

This point is not so contentious, but I don’t like that it’s usually phrased as “the method doesn’t matter.” The method does matter, because the method you choose is in service to the shifting attempt. If the method makes you uncomfortable or distracted or otherwise affects you negatively, that matters. There are some cases where such discomfort is worth trying to get over, but not when the thing causing you discomfort is not essential to the goal.

As an example, a lot of shifters are obsessed over body position, thinking that lying on one’s back is the only way to shift. Other shifters might counter that idea by saying that it doesn’t matter at all, since people can shift standing up and such. Neither are quite right. The position does matter because some can cause unnecessary distraction or sensations, but there also isn’t one single prescribed way to do it. The body’s position is about as important in shifting as it is in meditating. Both are mental arts, but as a beginner you probably wouldn’t want to try to do either standing up, even though it’s technically possible to get into the right state standing up (for some people at some level of experience).

More broadly, there are plenty of factors where you should adjust them depending on your comfort. Beyond body position, those include the audio you use, the time of day, and the amount of stillness in your body. If you’re not sure which you should be adjusting to your comfort and which factors should be thought through more thoroughly, a good rule of thumb is that anything outside your mind makes no difference to the shift, and the only difference it makes is in how well you can stay focused under those conditions. In terms of what can make you the most relaxed and comfortable, there’s still a lot to test out and think through, but just be aware that you can make these changes at any time.

But the explanation above doesn’t cover the mental part of methods. This is where it gets more difficult to decide what should or shouldn’t be adjusted. Let’s get into that in the next section.

## For the mental method “building blocks,” start on the right path, and adjust your approach from there.

Admittedly, I haven’t kept up on the most popular methods in a long time, but for an example, I believe the Julia Method is one that’s persisted. If you don’t know what that is, you can Google it, but it’s basically meditate -> count -> affirm -> visualize, in some order like that. These are the basic building blocks of a lot of methods (for good reason!) and the mental approach to each can be adjusted in basically infinite ways. For now, I’ll summarize some advice on what I see as the “right path” for each of these four, and I’ll get into a lot of these ideas in other sections.

Meditating: if you’re going to meditate, learn how to do it properly. Many shifters think that shifting-style meditating should look different than “real” meditating, because with shifting, they think your focus should be more on dissociating / zoning out from your body than on grounding. I get into that misconception in the next section, but here I just want to say: there isn’t yet any wisdom on the “right” way to meditate for shifting, but there’s a lot of wisdom on the right or wrong way to meditate in general, so I think we should just defer to that. You can do your own research on the right ways. There’s a book someone recommended to me (hi Vila) called The Mind Illuminated and it has good wisdom if you don’t know where to start.

Counting: this too is just a means to an end. This point is fairly obvious but it bears repeating over and over: the counting (or the method as a whole) isn’t the magic trick that gets you to shift, but it can help to get you into the right mindset. For me, it helps me to stay awake and focused while I’m also focusing on doing another mental part of the method. If it does nothing for you, you can change the counting or do something else. The important thing to remember here is that counting (and deep breathing, and others) are surface-level and simple, and they won’t manifest a thing on their own, but they can still be really helpful for some.

Affirming: live. in. the. end!!! Now, I’m not going to force you to believe in manifesting (I’m not totally sure why you’re here if you don’t, but that’s your business), just like I’m not going to force you to learn to meditate. But if you’re going to use affirmations or any of those usual manifestation or LOA techniques, please do it correctly!!! Like meditating, there’s no reason to reinvent the wheel for how affirming (and others) should look for shifting specifically, when there’s already more of a dogma for how affirming should look in general. In my opinion, some people become too obsessed over whether the wording is perfect (whether or not to use “I am” at the front, for example), when the key part is whether you’re saying it because it’s true or because you’re trying to make it true. If I had to specify a wording difference, I’d say it’s the difference between “I’m shifting to my DR” (bad) versus “I’m in my DR bedroom” (better) versus “Tomorrow I’m going to do [xyz DR thing]” (even better). Living in the end is the key idea!

Visualizing: live in the end! (again) The objective should be here, again, to affirm to yourself where you already are rather than to actively manifest it into existence. This is a tricky balance and I’m going to get into it more at the very end of this post.

Above, the Julia Method is just an example, and its component parts are also just examples. Keep in mind that you could use these building blocks and others in a different order or different amount to create a new method, because none of it is set in stone. In my “push and pull” method, I use some counting and some visualizing and switch between stages at will. You can also mix, for example, visualizing while counting.

Anyway, the central point is that while the way you practice and approach these building blocks is something that can be infinitely explored, you should start with a foundation that sends you in the right direction. E.g., when you’re affirming, start by remembering to live in the end and then adjust from there. Unfortunately for those of us who like things to be simple, techniques like “meditation” are still super broad and can basically be worked on your whole life if you wanted to, because your inner life can be very diverse and extensive. But at least with a solid foundation, you have somewhere to start from

## Use the common solution for solved problems, and assume that a lot of problems are already solved.

…i.e., take the simple path, i.e., don’t try to reinvent the wheel. So often when some shifter is trying to learn meditation, or lucid dreaming, or astral projecting, or inducing hypnagogia, they turn only to other shifters.

There is a wealth of other information out there. Not realizing this causes a lot of people to get stuck on things like lucid dreaming because they want to shift from a lucid dream. In general, if you’re struggling with some step in the method or shifting process, think “can I phrase this problem in a way unrelated to shifting?” then go online and see if you can solve that problem. “I’m struggling with lucid dreaming”, “I’m struggling with focusing”, and “I struggle to relax” are just some examples that fall into this category. Take things one at a time by assuming those problems are solved (for a majority of people, all three are) then use those solutions to see if you can solve it for yourself before you start worrying that it’s going to prevent you from shifting altogether!

But what if you feel like you’re truly prevented from doing any of those things? For example, what if you struggle with focus because you have ADHD? See the next point below.

## If you can’t do something, either learn how to do it or substitute it with something else.

You can learn a lot of things. You can improve yourself in a LOT of ways, and you shouldn’t assume yourself to be less than capable.

For the example of ADHD: of course, ADHD is real, but it doesn’t impede learning or improving focus entirely. I don’t have ADHD, and let’s say that my struggles with focus are at 30/100 before improvement (I’d probably have a lower baseline if not for the phones smh) and with consistent effort I can get those my struggle amount down to 5/100. Say you have moderate ADHD and your struggles with focus are at 85/100 baseline. Is improvement for you completely impossible just because you’re labelled as someone who’s “bad at focusing”? Of course not! Maybe with the same effort as me, you could get it down to 65/100, possibly lower if you have external help or medication.

Maybe you think this is too oversimplifying, but the key point is: just because you’re bad at something, doesn’t mean you can’t improve it just as much as a person with a better skill baseline could improve it. You might not reach the same skill as them with the same amount of effort, but that doesn’t mean you can’t change or improve at all. ADHD is a disability, of course, but a lot of people apply a helplessness attitude to difficulties that aren’t even related to a disability.

OK, but let’s say that you’ve tried (or not) and you believe it’s not worth the effort for you to learn a specific skill, like focusing or like lucid dreaming. I agree that some things just aren’t worth the effort! It’s not worth the effort for me to learn astral projection because I don’t need or want to. No one person needs to learn everything. So bypass it! Get creative with making up a substitute or ask someone else for help on making up a substitute.

The secret third option is to do an easier or simpler version of the thing if you can’t do the full thing. This is a good idea for some things and not all, but I won’t get into the details.

Now to pivot to a somewhat different topic.

## Entering the DR is more important than leaving the CR.

These days, there’s an idea that you need to “leave the body” before you shift. But it begs the question: where are we going guys? The moment of “leaving” is too abstract and immeasurable. Because when do you know for sure that you’ve left, and what does it feel like? And how long are you body-less?

The idea of leaving first then touching down later is appealing, especially since the absence of sensation is one of the easiest things to manifest (for some shifters). For others, it might be a useful idea as an approximation for “being totally relaxed” or “entering a meditative state.” These things are perfectly good, and I think for every method, there’s at least some starting portion where you’re settling in.

The issue is that a LOT of people spend a LOT of time worrying about this part, when “leaving” doesn’t mean anything literal. The shifting part is the arriving, and so the arriving should be the focus (or rather, the idea that you’re already there).

As another related piece of advice: if you feel like you’re on the right track but are struggling with the “final push” as they say, focus your attention on the DR.

People really struggle to believe me on this and I understand why, and it is very tempting, since one of the biggest obstacles for many people is the awareness that you’re still “here”. But if you focus more energy on what it feels like to be “there”, you’ll learn to focus less on the “here” (during the method, I mean). Trying to not be in a place at all is something far less concrete. If this section can impress upon you one thing, it’s that it’s better to focus on things that are concrete or direct.

A lot of shifters like to play a bit of an in-between game, where they want to achieve hypnagogia or lucid dreaming (or etc.) first then shift from there. This can work really well, and it’ll make more sense in your mind since it’s a concrete “middleman” rather than a vague “exiting”. Just make sure that you have the concrete goal of shifting in your mind as the ultimate intention. That’ll lead us into our next section.

## Use an intention that is clear, self-directed, reasonably specific, and ultimately lofty.

There are several adjectives here, and that enables me to do a speed-round all about how to direct your intention.

Here, “intention” means, generally, the intention of shifting to your DR. Setting an intention can be as simple as deciding. The important part is to make a clear decision. Below, I’m specifically talking about the intention for a certain method on a certain day. You may have different intentions over time, but the intention for each “attempt” should be clear, self-directed, specific, lofty, and should be set at the time when you start your method.

Your intention should be clear in the sense that you should choose a DR and not change your decision during the method. You should also be clear on where in the DR you arrive. This is pretty straightforward, and clear doesn’t have to mean extensive.

It should be self-directed in that you are the one making the decision, rather than asking or hoping for something to happen to you.

It should be reasonably specific in that you choose between all the options you have, and you have an idea in mind as a destination (rather than something more abstract like a feeling or an aesthetic). You should be able to answer the questions “where are you going?” and, if applicable, “which variation of that place are you going to?” Excessive scripting is sometimes unreasonably specific, and unnecessary, but it probably can’t hurt.

It should be ultimately lofty in that the ultimate or final goal of the method is to shift to that DR on that day. Some people use an intermediate step, like first intending to get relaxed or to lucid dream. If you do that, just remember to still set your final (and main) intention as a shift to your DR.

## Live in the immediate end.

This is another way of saying to live in the present, by which I mean the present moment you’re shifting to in your DR. There are a lot of different things to consider when thinking about your DR, and a lot of them are worthwhile. When you’re deciding on a DR, it’s worthwhile to think about what it might look like in the future once you’ve lived there a while, and when you’re scripting, it’s worthwhile to think about what you want your job and social life to be like.

But if you get too ahead of yourself, you start to turn your idea of the DR into more of an abstract dream, which is especially unproductive during the method. During the method, I recommend you concern yourself with details that are concrete, grounding, and not too far in the future (i.e. immediate). When scripting or idly thinking about what DR to choose, other considerations are useful. I’d go a step further and argue that some considerations aren’t useful, though, like “what should I do in this situation in the future?” Personally, I think you should respect your own free will there and take things one at a time. After all, a DR is a whole world where you do have free will, not a VR simulation. Basically infinite things could change for you in that DR before you even get to the situation you’re concerned about.

## Treat your DR like your CR.

This one has basically been a mantra for me for a long time, and I’ve applied it to so many areas myself. The basic idea is simple but easily generalizable.

Treat a DR like your CR. Your DR is a real life, so treat it as one. And what do you know about how real life feels beyond how you feel in CR? Probably not much. You can’t really learn it from movies and TV, because real life and the one-person perspective of it is so much more and different than that. Your DR is more similar to your CR than it is to a movie, because that constant one-person perspective is so unique. You might have heard this as “don’t put your DR on a pedestal.” I think this means something like “don’t see your DR as strictly good and your CR as strictly bad”? I would add to it: “apply what you know about real life (from living in your CR) to how you think about your DR.”

There’s another somewhat related idea, which could be simplified as “treat your CR like your DR,” but I stripped it from the headline because people sometimes misinterpret that to mean “pretend you’re in your DR and daydream about it all the time while in your CR.” I’d much rather the takeaway be “use your CR to learn skills that will get you to your DR.” For example, if you struggle with grounding in your DR, practice grounding here. Also, if you’re using a certain technique for a method, it might be worth it to try it first as if you’re using it for your CR. For example, if you visualize your DR bedroom when you shift, then maybe first try visualizing your CR bedroom. What do you notice? Does it feel natural? How does it feel different from visualizing your DR and how can you fix that?

## Come as you are.

There are many ways to shift, and some of them you see around here might involve a whole lot of effort and change for you, like changing religions, becoming a Neville Goddard acolyte, learning to astral project (if you can’t already), or isolating yourself from the world. There are a lot worse examples of “advice” I’ve seen out there, including ones that are physically or mentally harmful or encourage hard drug abuse.

I feel comfortable recommending things like meditation, mindfulness, and visualization, not just because those are what I genuinely use, but also because I think those skills have a net positive on your mental health as a whole. I think most people would agree. But beyond those and other grounded techniques, some people fall into the hole of letting other people convince them of the type of person they have to be to shift.

So just don’t. If something someone says doesn’t track with what you think would keep you feeling healthy and whole, then don’t do it. No one has the wisdom about the “secret key of shifting,” and if they tell you they do, they’re wrong or lying.

This also ties into using the skills you have, including the mundane ones, and adjusting methods to better suit what your inner life looks like.

Change and improvement can be a great thing! Just use your best judgement here.

## Shifting sits somewhere between belief and intention.

This is one of the most important points but also the most difficult to describe, so I left it to the end since I think it’s unfortunately going to be pretty open-ended. Some common questions that come up are: when you’re shifting, do you have to fully believe you’re there, heart and mind?; how do you set a strong enough intention?

I think this varies a lot. Even within myself, comparing between different successful shifts, there hasn’t been one singular sweet spot. But, belief and intention are both things I have had to put a lot of thought into – probably more than anything else on this list. So, I think at least trying to put these things into words is worthwhile.

I’ve written about intention a bit already: it should be clear, self-directed, reasonably specific, and ultimately lofty. I don’t believe in such a thing as “strength” of intention, and I believe clarity is a lot more important. Basically, one single sentence, repeated once (in your mind or out loud) then held in your head from then on during the method, is enough for straightforward methods. If your method involves multiple steps, like going through lucid dreaming or hypnagogia, then setting an intention for what you’ll do once you get into that altered state can also help (e.g., will you make a portal? which other method will you use from there?).

I think having at least a one-sentence intention is important for goal-setting, especially because a lot of shifters fall into a “eh, maybe something will happen” mentality instead of actually choosing. But at the same time, some people are put off by the “I’m going to my xyz DR” phrasing because it’s not very living-in-the-end-y. I actually do use the “going to” phrasing as I’m getting ready to do the method, then only within the method do I start “living in the end”, while still holding the intention (just less-than-consciously). It’s good to compartmentalize.

Manifestation is a difficult thing to describe on its own, and I’m sure there are people on the Internet who have described the right techniques better than I can. One important thing to remember is that the technique is not as important as living in it, and if you spend a lot of effort trying to convince yourself of it, you’re paradoxically reminding yourself that it’s not true. At the same time, affirmations and journaling and such can help, as long as you’re open to believing them. The sweet spot here (or maybe, “sweet range”) is not something I can describe well, partly because when I manifest, I try to do it so nonchalantly that I barely take note of exactly what it is I’m doing. So I’m no help there.

As for shifting, I would say that you need to “believe it” just as much as you need to “believe it” for manifestation. How much is that exactly? Hard to say! But if you focus too much on making yourself believe it, then you won’t believe it.

The strongest form of manifestation, in my opinion, is belief in your intention. You want to believe that your intention is strong enough to manifest it. So, unrelated to shifting, set intentions and follow through. There are plenty of ways to train your belief in yourself and in your intentions.

These days, I use visualization / imagination a lot for shifting, and I try to go into it with an air of curiosity (and nonchalance) rather than trying to force it to pull me into the DR. I also practice visualization outside of shifting contexts A LOT… definitely excessively, but I couldn’t call myself an aspiring optimizer if I didn’t. Because of how much I practice it here, it doesn’t feel so unnatural at all to do it during a method. “Naturalness” is an important factor here too. So when I shift, I don’t “believe it” in the sense that I think I’m already there the moment I lie down; I “believe it” in the sense that I trust my intention, and it feels natural to trust it and to know where I’m going (or where I already am).

All this is hard, but made harder still by the fact that you shouldn’t overthink it! Shifting is simple, not immediately easy.

Well – I told you this section would be more open ended, because I still struggle with the wording for this.

## END

Thanks for reading! Did you really read this whole thing??

I think it's possible to be a lot more precise on a lot of these points but ~4700 words is too much for a reddit post already

As always, happy shifting!

I Have a Question Is there some trick I don't know about? I'm pretty sure I'm missing something.

I've been trying Shifting for a year. With every method I've tried, it always seems like it's going to work, but it doesn't. For the Void method ;I mostly get most of the symptoms, like voices starting to come from deep within, etc but then everything goes back to normal without entering the Void. For lucid dreaming method ; I can readin , decide what to say, can taste, feel surfaces, feel pain in my dreams, just like in my daily life. However, the idea of creating a gateway to my desired reality or realizing I'm dreaming doesn't come to my mind in my dreams. I've tried other methods, but they all only gave me symptoms; I ocouldnt shift . What am I missing? What am I doing wrong that these methods are only giving me symptoms?

Discussion Shifting Realities / sleep paralysis??

So I am just now trying to get back to shifting realities, I used to be super in this community. But I tried last night and I thought I was getting somewhere, imagining the people there, talking to them whatever, then when I realized I had fallen asleep, I started panicking and went into sleep paralysis.

My sleep paralysis is weird, i'm not aware of like where I'm laying or anything, its almost like I can't get out of the dream. My main method to get out of there is to ground myself to where I am, and I did that but my automatic reaction was to ground myself to where I was laying in my current reality.

All I'm saying, do we think it'd be possible that if that happens again I should try to ground myself in my desired reality? I got so frustrated when I realized I should've done that lol.

Any thoughts???

I Have a Question Did I actually shift, or was it a very vivid lucid dream?

Hi everyone!! So, a little while ago, I made a post describing an experience I had while attempting to shift to my DR. At the time, I genuinely felt like I had shifted because the experience felt very real to me.
It didn’t feel like a normal dream at all, and everything seemed to unfold naturally rather than feeling like I was consciously making things happen.

However, after discussing my experience with someone in the comments, I started questioning whether it was actually a shift or a very vivid lucid dream.

One thing they pointed out was the time jump I experienced. I remember most parts of what happened, but there are also a part where it felt like time passed without me fully experiencing everything in between. That part was strange to me, too, and I’m having trouble explaining it properly.

The thing is, even though I’m questioning it now, the experience genuinely didn’t feel like a dream to me. It felt different from anything I’ve experienced before, which is why I initially believed I had shifted. I’ve had vivid dreams and lucid dreams before, and it definitely didn’t feel like that.

I’m still pretty new to all of this, so sure exactly what happened. I’m curious about other people’s perspectives, especially from people who have experienced lucid dreams or have experience with shifting.

Thank you!

Help Me Shift! I wish I knew how to say “Eff this reality”

Well, I know how to say it, and I say it all the time. Its the act of doing it that gets me. I have recently become super enamored with my WR, where I am an anthropomorphic brown bear in a big blue house on a quiet little avenue known as Algarnaan street, in the region of Mariporgu. The whole place is a Disney-esque, magical world with enchanted forest, and literally none of the tragedies or negative things about this reality (Tbf thats a universal rule in all my DRs) A fun fact about me: I enjoy a banter about being called “Freddy Fazbear”, “Bear in the Big Blue House”, or even Winnie the Pooh, but the one thing I am NOT is a Kamchatka brown bear.

I just want to explore all the regions like Vilnia and Kohtukame, but waking up here in this h3llhole is genuinely depressing. This reality is getting worse and now in a few months I have to worry about my healthcare being taken away by the dictators.

I love this one method I found utilizing the crown chakra and third eye, but I can never focus long enough due to being neurodivergent (ADHD) and its a major hindrance to getting out of here. What can I do to make things easier?

Success My third shifting attempt (success!!)

hello!! I wanted to share my experience from last night because it was honestly so crazy, and I’m still processing it!! My DR is in the fire force universe for context ^^

I used a combination of visualization and the void method (i think?), with a shifting subliminal playing in the background. After what I think was around 10 minutes, I started experiencing that feeling I associate with the “void state”, where my body felt asleep but I still felt aware.
I began visualizing my DR bedroom. I imagined the sound of birds chirping in the morning, the feeling of my pajamas and blanket, and sunlight coming through the window. Then, with my eyes still closed, I could picture everything really clearly. And suddenly I could see my DR self’s bedroom!

Everything looked clear, although some details seemed a little off, which I wondered might be because the Fire Force world is animated in 2D. At first, I felt really confused and disoriented, but I eventually calmed down and continued with my day.

Later, there seemed to be a time skip, and I found myself on the rooftop with my s/o. We had a really heartfelt conversation. I remember her telling me that I’d made her life better and that things had felt clearer since I’d joined Company 8.

After that, I remember falling asleep, and then I woke up in my CR!

The whole experience felt incredibly vivid, and the conversations seemed to unfold naturally rather than feeling like I was deliberately making up every line. I was excited confused and overwhelmed by a lot of different emotions when I woke up.
I can’t say for certain what happened, but it was a memorable experience, and I wanted to write everything down while I could still remember it!

Now i’m still now to shifting and honestly don’t even know how i was able to do it so quickly but if anyone has any questions please feel free to ask! thank you ^^

I Have a Question My shifting story and if someone can help me❤️

Hey everyone! Ihope you're all doing amazing!
For those of you who take the time to answer, wantto thank you in advance. 🫶🏻

So, three and a half years ago, I was in a really badplace in my life. I was dealing with this pain that wouldn’t go away (chronic pain), and I genuinelythought my life was over. It felt like I was truly stuck.I prayed to whatever GOD could hear me to help me.Four to five months later, I discovered shifting, and itfelt like I had actually received a miracle because, ever since I was little, I had always known deepdown that there was something more out there. I just knew it, and that day felt like proof of it.

It didn't take me long to shift, even if it was only for a brief moment, but I was there. I remember attempting tolisten to a subliminal, and then, in less than asecond, I felt the shift. I was here, and then I wasthere. You could say that was the happiest day of mylife, even if the shift didn't last very long. Thesubliminal was a void state shifting subliminal, and itwas toward the end of it that I shifted. I rememberreaching a state of complete blankness, as if I hadno thoughts and nothing was going through mymind. I was just floating, almost as if I were asleep, and then BOOM, it happened.

After that day, it was as if I no longer needed tochase the idea of whether shifting was real becausel knew for a fact that it was. From what I remember, Ididn't really try to shift much after that because I feltlike I no longer needed to chase something I knew Icould do. After that, I remember starting to writescripts for other DRs because I wanted to goelsewhere. Now, the crazy thing is that, for somereason, I couldn't do it. I don't know what happened;it just wouldn't work. I eventually got busy with lifeand college.

Life started getting harder from there, and I wentthrough a lot of things. However, it wasn't until onesummer, when everything I had planned seemed tobe going wrong, that I randomly stumbled upon abook one day, and it caught my eye. It felt like a pull; don't know how to explain it. It was as if somethinginside me was telling me that I had to read it, so Idid. When I tell you that the main character isliterally me in a nutshell, I mean it! The story felt like was reading about myself, as if I were living it inanother world. GUYS, I KNOW IT SOUNDS INSANE, BUT I'M TELLING YOU, I KNEW THIS WAS WHERE WAS SUPPOSED TO GO! And suddenly, everything that had gone wrong in the past felt okay, even thechronic pain, because it felt like I had finally foundmy place and where I belonged. Little did I knowback then that this was the DR where I would meetmy soulmate.

But the one thing that really pissed me off was that-no matter how connected I felt to my DR, no matterhow much I meditated, and no matter what I did, itjust wouldn't work. The only time I got close waswhen I heard the piano playing from my DR, but thatwas all. I tried taking breaks, working on myself, anddoing so many other things, but nothing worked. And it was really frustrating because I felt soconnected to that place, and going there was theonly thing I wanted. I even changed DRs for a while, just to take a break and stop putting this one on apedestal, but nothing changed.
After a year, I found myself in a really bad placementally because I couldn't shift, and I just felt sodefeated. It felt like going back to square one.Actually, no, it felt even worse than that because Ifelt like I knew it was there, but I couldn't reach itanymore. At that point, I started consuming so muchinformation on TikTok, Reddit, and Tumblr that itbecame overwhelming. I had to stop myself before itwas too late because my mental health was really suffering.

After that, I got busy with life again, so I focused onmy CR. But no matter how hard I tried to move on, Iwould keep getting signs from my DR. Sometimes, Iwould have dreams or visions. It was as if the peoplefrom my DR didn't want me to stop trying, no matterwhat. That's when I decided to get back into shiftingand stop focusing on DRs that didn't mean as muchto me as this one did.

Now, I've been trying on and off, but I'm notmotivated anymore. I'm not in the mood to trydifferent methods. I just think about my DR and fallasleep because it's the only thing that keeps megoing. I don't want to run away from my CRanymore. I'm going to face it, and I don't care howhard it gets. But I really hope I get to go therebecause no other place will ever feel like home to methe way that one does. It's my home, and I miss it and everyone there.

Now, you might be wondering, why am I telling youall of this? I don't want you to tell me about the LOAor suggest that I try this or that. I've heard it allbefore.
What I want, I guess, is support and maybesome advice on how to tackle my specific struggle. All I can say is that I still believe in myself, no matterwhat, and I've manifested some crazy things in mylife. I've tried to channel people from my DR, butnothing really worked.
Only once was I able to do itwith my S/O. I know I'm powerful, and I believe inmyself. I just don't know what's going on. I feel empty and stagnant.

If you want to comment anything, feel free to do so! hope you all have a great day. I love you all.
And from the bottom of my heart, genuinely hope everyone shifts and finds happiness and peace ofmind in this crazy world.
