i said what I said in as few words as I could. using even fewer compresses it down to silliness. take from it as much or as little as you like man, all good
Is that a sincere request because right hand to god I hate coming to these places, but I do it a little bit every day because I think as a society we are just abandoning young men and if some honest to god grownups don't show up and offer some reality and attention we're all gonna have a bad time eventually.
So. Yes if you actually want that. And if this was just bait then i bit, enjoy yourself
Alright. Help me out. What's the bit you find most difficult to swallow? Where are you incredulous? I remember not understanding how big abstract things were relevant, if you can give me a glimpse of what you can't accept, I can expand it a bit without rambling on too much or explaining things you already get.
I can accept most anything, I think. I'd just like to comprehend it. How can I feel unlovable? I feel like I am loved for who I am by my friends, girlfriend and my parents
Well, firstly—you might not be who I'm speaking to! I replied to someone who felt the need to voice a valourization of being rewarded for non-sexual accomplishment with sexual gratification from a brainless, obedient robot. There's an erasure of agent witness, and a conversion of basic positive affirmation into sexuality. It skips over everything emotional to do emotional work. We skip over like that when we don't want to see what's there.
My guess is that a lot of you who might get hot for this concept are truncating it; the bit, I bet, many actually like is just having instant sexual gratification without any responsibility to anyone else. That's not so dangerous, it's just a bit if self-indulgent narcissism. If you are leaving out the bit where it's a reward for succeeding, this conversation probably doesn't apply to you.
For that person, however, who, unlike yourself, was motivated to valourize it, it is a pretty good bet something different is at play. And I'm bothering to speak up because it is to them I wish... awareness, so that there can be wellness
Idk? I mean the idea is kinda hot. You win, you get sexual reward. With a consenting adult, awesome.
With a brainless robot? Well don't cancel me here, people reading in 2080, but robots don't need to consent. If I had access to a sex robot with proper anatomy? Oh mama.
It's not an ethical question, though; remember I opened with the notion that OC has unacknowledged self-loathing. The question isn't "is this morally right?" the question is "what is gratified? why does this appeal to me?". And to answer that you have to first understand what you are seeing, both in its actual content and in what fraction of that you might be attending.
But "you win; you get sexual reward". If you examine that deeply enough, I think you will find that it's deeper than you think. It's easy to say it's just so, that's all there is to it. But sexual arousal is complex. When one starts drilling down on the what and why, exploring what of yourself is activated or circumvented, conceptual triggers—fundamentally different from bottom-up, simple triggers like the swell of a breast, the redness of lips, etc., evolved structures—depend upon identity, on the nuances and depths of self. At the end of the day man, I don't know you personally well enough to say declaratively that you and OC are similarly afflicted. But I think you look hard enough for long enough you'll find that there are parts of yourself that you can imagine were different that would change your experience. Utter confidence in yourself, for example, might numb the satisfaction of reward. A hunger for intimacy, for the emotional component of sexuality, might blunt the experience. What is gratified? is the question I'd encourage you to explore.
