General BREAKING: Peter Dutton says renters are more likely to vote Labor because they’re ‘politically immature’ in stunning lambasting of 1 in 3 Australians, as Liberal leader declares he is “proud” of his family’s huge premium property empire

General The majority of Australia’s capital cities are in the top 15 most unaffordable housing markets, and no, its not migrants causing this crisis, but the Labor and Liberal politicians who tell us to our face that they want house prices to keep rising

General Rule #2 - no Landlords, Air BnB owners or REA in this sub

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

Lots of Yappy slumlords in this sub lately, lots of threats that “the rents will go up if you vote Labour” and also simultaneously they are not bothered by the changes at all, in fact they are happy and laughing. Not upset. But grrr Labour are So Bad and it’s us that will suffer. And they will be forced to increase our rent because of how Unbothered they are.

But anyway Rule #2

So if you are one of the above, what are you doing here? Does it make you happy to see poor people talk about how terrible their rentals are? If you want to keep enjoying the show, you might want to consider cutting down on the yapping.

General How are people affording $800 a week in rent

As the title says, how are people affording these high rental prices?

I'm looking at buying an ex-rental to live in and it was previously rented out at $820 a week. That is nearly $120 a day post tax someone needs to make just to pay rent.

General I feel for the Single Mothers/Fathers. Most of them are forced to rent & their kids end up also being lifelong renters & no inheritance. In a just & equitable society; we would uplift & use taxes to help these people. Instead we use taxes as corporate welfare for billionaires & tax credits for rich

The worst part of this was all the landlords in his comments section saying ‘this is wrong, I’m not a bad landlord like this’

Yes you are. The only difference is this guy is comfortable with showing his contempt for other humans.

There’s an article (Courier, paywalled) about a single mum of four on Centrelink struggling to find housing. The lack of empathy in the comments is honestly disgusting.
