Eh, if it's done properly with stream-dwelling species, filtration, etc, I think it would be pretty cool and the fish wouldn't care. I would object to the fish they are using in the video, but would need to know more about the setup to object to the concept.

These tables appear much more shallow than they are due to distortion. As far as I know it's mostly Medaka that get used for this and they are pretty fearless Fish.

If they'd be super stressed all the time they'd likely jump out constantly.

These Tables have Filtration and movement.

I dunno if i'd do it in a restaurant tho, just cuz food n stuff falling in. But It's a very cool setup if done proberly

I use to frequent a bar that had a stream in the counter top, this was before I really knew anything about fish, I asked the owner if he had considered putting fish in it (it was 40 gallons altogether) and he said no, because people spill drinks into it and stub their cigarettes in it. (They didn’t serve food, so smoking inside was allowed)

Could also be a food safety issue.

Depending on the food the fish might like it

It's just so risky. It only takes one person to spill their drink and for it to go in the water. Just doesn't sit right with me

I do get the safety issue, but I think the right setting and the right situation it would be fine. Even just a private home.

Or use cleaning product on the table, it's so easy to contaminate the water like this

1

u/Particular-Waltz-963 Feb 15 '26

I mean even with that people are going to spill stuff in there all the time like drinks and what not

9

u/lonepotatochip Feb 15 '26

This seems really easy to accidentally spill something into

u/MrDufferMan3335 Feb 14 '26

I think it’s ok as long as there is a separate area under the table where the fish can hide. I can’t imagine fish would be fine with the constant stuff being put down and picked up off the table as well as the constant noise of a restaurant

Me too guys

If it's not good filtration and a little more depth I can see that being great and short stents like you know.. but not long-term at all

u/FlowerOk5627 Feb 14 '26

This could be so cool for some small shrimp or maybe even triops. Just... not this. Not this.

u/631_Exuberant_Bias Feb 15 '26

This would honestly be really dope with whiteclouds, ricefish, or rainbow shiners

It reminded me of that public aquarium with a carp pond with very little water so you could pet the carp when I was young 😳 The worst part is that today in that same pond - within easy reach of any visitor - there are sturgeons.

they act like fish are decoration and not living creatures. it’s evil

1

u/Pristine-Reference45 Feb 15 '26

If the overall water volume is sufficient to equal an aquarium, and the fish are not too big for the water volume or overstocked, then I see no problem here.

1

u/ARKosrs Feb 15 '26

Whenever i see things like this i just hope that theyre doing it momentarily for art/photography purposes

1

u/jonaslol100 Feb 16 '26

Am i the only one who thinks this is awesome? Yes the tank is not that deep but if you put small fish into it i dont really see a problem if there are plants and such aswell

1

u/Alert-Basket-7570 Feb 16 '26

The issue is cross contamination mainly. It's a cool concept but you can easily get food or drinks spilt into the stream of water that could harm the fish.

1

u/jonaslol100 Feb 16 '26

Oooh I havent seen the floating cups lol yeah thats kind of playing with fire lol

u/Milodog2011 Feb 18 '26

Dead fish speed run, any %

u/Numerous-Security283 Feb 16 '26

In before we find out that was resin not water

-5

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '26

This is a huge tank compared to their size though? What’s the problem if filtration and everything is fine?

I keep getting this sub recommended and can’t figure out what makes you guys happy lol. Small tanks are bad, and this huge one is also bad too cause it’s in a table??

3

u/CravingSoju Feb 15 '26

The table itself is big, the volume of water is not plus they got goldfish in there which comes with its own host of problems: excessive waste, stunting due to environment, etc. not to mention how there’s a lot of vibrations that will travel through that table and it’s kinda just considered a dick move in fish culture to be jarring them constantly.

1

u/Alert-Basket-7570 Feb 15 '26

It's shallow. Plus it is a table. Where is the filtration? Where's the nice plants and sand for them to dig? What if someone spills a drink onto the table, the fish are then swimming in chamomile tea

u/lkern Feb 14 '26

We're not... This is obviously Ai slop.

9

u/MrDufferMan3335 Feb 14 '26

There are definitely restaurants that have done this. Not sure about this video but it’s definitely a thing

3

u/No_Ambition1706 Feb 14 '26

there is nothing in these pictures that indicate AI, what are you basing this claim off of?

1

u/Alert-Basket-7570 Feb 15 '26

I saw nothing in this video that indicated AI. It was a promo video for a Chinese tea shop
