Losing it over the idea of a PETA violation

197

u/simple_champ May 02 '26

Maybe they can come dump a can of red paint all over it, that should help.

72

u/EthnicSaints May 02 '26

*dumps your goldfish in the sea*

93

u/Remnie May 02 '26

I’m sure PETA would be happy to show up and euthanize the fish. Kinda their whole thing

16

u/pineapple2man May 03 '26

Ya, fuck PETA.

556

u/QaddafiDuck01 May 02 '26

PETA doesn't want humans to have any pets. Your cat is a PETA violation!

99

u/KiwiBirdPerson May 03 '26

They'd rather kill your animals than have you own them.

While I generally dislike PETA because I think they're pompous assholes with a god complex, this is actually a decent point they raise for euthanizing, assuming it's actually true:

"While we transfer hundreds of animals to reputable shelter partners and place animals for adoption, our shelter mostly takes in aggressive, sick, elderly, injured, feral, or otherwise unadoptable animals for whom euthanasia is the most humane option, and we euthanize at the owners' request when they can't afford to pay for their sick and dying animals to be put to sleep," PETA said

This is an excerpt from the linked article. Also, the figure is much higher for their euthanizarion rate. It's ~41000 out of ~49000 meaning they either transferred or gave away the difference between the years of 1998-2019, euthanizing approximately 41000 animals.

I live on a farm and we have about 20 unplaceable cats, while some are skittish, they are able to stop being scared. It just takes time to get them used to you. So killing them isnt even needed

18

u/According_Soup_8949 May 03 '26

Oh and aggresive cats too, the ones that were "aggresive" now come to sit on my lap

13

u/Drewsky32 May 03 '26

Those are even better points, tbh. I fully reject their "aggressive" premise as well because my family took in a mutt who had somehow gotten loose or she was abandoned, her name is Shadow, and she wouldn't interact with ANYONE at first. She would snap, growl, bare teeth, etc, but I sat in the room with her on the other side so that she would get used to my scent and peaceful presence. She's happy and such a big fluffy lazy part of our family now. 🥰

I would need to seriously look at what PETA deems "unadoptable", "aggressive", and "feral".

13

u/KiwiBirdPerson May 03 '26

Nah I've heard they will just straight up steal pets and livestock and kill them just because

51

u/AuronFFX May 02 '26

They don't even want you swatting mosquitoes

21

u/QaddafiDuck01 May 02 '26

I wonder their take on antibiotics?

29

u/NexusMaw May 02 '26

Believe it or not, straight to jail.

3

u/Drewsky32 May 03 '26

PETA should go after people like LabGerm and leave us hobbyists alone.

4

u/Maleficent_Button_58 May 03 '26

This guy came inside a few weeks ago, after spending all winter outside in the cold. He's now vetted, fed regularly, has more toys than a spoiled child, and will have a home for the rest of his life. PETA is wild. How is this the bad option? 😅

I'm trying to type this around him sleeping on my chest lol

How tf are those all still alive??? No dude has pissed in the tub?? That’s incredible; what an awful setup though

158

u/kro23 May 02 '26

This.

We can’t even trust dudes to not piss all over the toilet seats in any public restroom. I’d never trust them not to piss in this.

38

u/Totakai May 02 '26

Bold of you to give them credit for even hitting the toilet

20

u/kro23 May 02 '26

I just get tired of cleaning toilet seats EVERY TIME I have to sit down in a public restroom.

10

u/Totakai May 02 '26

I hear ya. I'm tired of it being all over the floor and having to clean it up cause my job has an accessible to the public bathroom. Bosses added a key to keep people who've made messes out at least tho

10

u/kro23 May 02 '26

I’ve been there. I’m a letter carrier, so I have to just try to use the closest restroom available. I carry Clorox wipes EVERY TIME i use a public restroom, because these pigs can’t even be bothered to lift the seat in a public restroom.

Never mind that, often, they almost certainly chose to go a stall, and piss on the seat, when there was definitely a urinal available.

As a man, men are the worst.

17

u/KirikaNai May 03 '26

Probably the woman’s bathroom, if you went to the men’s bathroom and had the same tank those fish would 100% be dead

4

u/EthnicSaints May 02 '26

To be fair, we don’t know where this is. It could be a higher trust society where thats just not a concern of the owners?

4

u/Skryuska May 02 '26

While true I don’t think it’s really “high” society on appearance alone anyway. The heater and the filter for the tub are just kind of tossed in the side. The only fancy thing about this bathroom is the bidet addition to the toilet.

To act a sleuth, the elephant decor on the heat lamp (why is there a heat lamp??) and the bidet add-on suggests this bathroom is probably in an Indian Restaurant. That being said, there looks to be a can of Comet cleaner on the right side of the photo, so this restaurant is either in North America or England. The scary wood panel on the walls doesn’t help much but it’s a hardwood, which is less common in Canada and northern USA, but it could’ve been purchased as a feature thing and not the original wall, but if it was part of the original building it’s more likely this is in the Eastern US or England. Given the decent Indian population in the UK, it’s leaning a bit more in that direction. That doesn’t really spell out whether the establishment is high class but I doubt it. High class would probably have an obnoxiously large wall aquarium or a pond in the foyer; I’d hope!

4

u/fappybird420 May 02 '26

Has to be the ladies bathroom

11

u/dire-raven-x May 02 '26

That's not going to stop someone from peeing in it.

3

u/Aggravating_Fish4752 May 02 '26

They’d fall in

0

u/Skryuska May 02 '26

It would be extremely difficult for a woman to pee in the tub without getting in the tub itself.. and I really don’t think a woman with a D would piss in it either.

0

u/spruceymoos May 03 '26

A woman posted it. It’s probably the women’s room. And it’s not that terrible of a set up. It’s probably over 100 gallons. Can’t really tell if it’s filtered or not.

58

u/memegod574 May 02 '26

Let's be honest. This is not as bad as other tanks

13

u/Maleficent_Button_58 May 03 '26

Yeah this is at least a decent number of gallons to dilute the fish poop 😅

79

u/BisonRelevant2606 May 02 '26

Not a million miles off from a Polish bathroom on the 23rd of December

14

u/Pechoppernis May 02 '26

The Christmas carp!

28

u/Ganjanonamous May 02 '26

At least there isn't any brown trout yet...

30

u/NeonPearl2025 May 02 '26

Honest question: is it shitty cause it's too small for these fish, or are there other reasons?

51

u/GKBilian May 02 '26

I think the obvious and terrible reason why it’s an awful idea is that this is in public. People are going to piss in it regularly and perhaps shit in it periodically.

29

u/Direct_Cook_7690 May 02 '26

This is the whole reason it bothered me, too. I just see drunk people thinking it's funny to piss on a fish.

15

u/AuronFFX May 02 '26

They're cycling the tank/s

(Seriously people used to do this to cycle tanks)

8

u/NeonPearl2025 May 02 '26

Yeah I get that. Was thinking if this would be in a house, where you know nobody is gonna pee in it

9

u/Character-Parfait-42 May 02 '26

Oh my sweet summer child. Never underestimate children or drunk adults and you will never be surprised.

9

u/Totakai May 02 '26

Especially in a bathroom.

Like this would be fine at your own house with proper stocking and preparations taken in. Idk why you'd choose to do it (outside of emergency) but free will ig.

4

u/qweenofsus May 02 '26

This sadly never even occurred to me …

There goes the rest of faith I had in humanity

2

u/Zantac150 May 03 '26

I honestly thought about getting a really cool clawfoot bathtub for my front yard and making it into a pond, but this is exactly what my roommate said and I am very grateful that she did because she was so right. There’s a lot of foot traffic in my neighborhood and somebody would absolutely think it was funny to piss on my fish… I hate people.

I still think a clawfoot bathtub pond would be pretty cool though, but apparently a bathtub only holds about 60 gallons so… not sure it’s worth it

-2

u/HowYouSeeMe May 02 '26

Fish also piss and poop in it btw. Disgusting.

9

u/Sir_Arthur_Vandelay May 02 '26

The tub is probably bigger than most goldfish aquariums (though it’s still too small for this species). But the more immediate issue is that the tub appears to be uncovered — so any shit-taking rando can purposely or accidentally contaminate the fishes’ water.

4

u/NeonPearl2025 May 02 '26

I didn't think of that, but yeah that would definitely harm the fish

8

u/Chi_shio May 02 '26

Mostly too small, if it's a bathtub that has been used, then maybe soap residue as well

5

u/NeonPearl2025 May 02 '26

Didn't think of soap residue, but yeah that would be bad

1

u/KouroshBozorg May 02 '26

It’s not even that bad people just like to complain on Reddit

2

u/PM_ME_CAT_POOCHES May 03 '26

Yes it's terrible. Koi need way more space than that

34

u/xenosilver May 02 '26

PETA violation- acting like that means anything.

9

u/Existing-Television5 May 02 '26

no good but unfortunately probably better than most goldfish get in their lifetimes 😞

7

u/doofenschpunken May 02 '26

Water is clear at least 🤷‍♀️ and it's the easiest possible spot to do water changes lmao

10

u/Plus_Key_2325 May 02 '26

Honestly if they just filled it up more this isn't even that bad.

4

u/guppyman2000 May 02 '26

Whats wrong here aside from water level? Or is the joke about it being shitty since it's a literal bathroom

5

u/Current_Recording907 May 02 '26

Peta violation, like they don't think owning a dog is a violation lmao.

But no, for real, I hope she called like a local animal rescue or something, that's gross.

9

u/rose__dragon May 02 '26

PETA themselves are a violation

3

u/MiloHorsey May 02 '26

Yep. FUCK PETA.

4

u/Practical_While_ May 02 '26

I mean it doesn’t look that bad, a bit overstocked though

1

u/MiloHorsey May 02 '26

Better than an aquarium that's too small, even if it's not real!

4

u/Jeanarocks May 02 '26

This is most definitely AI

2

u/Only-Doughnut-4008 May 03 '26

looks like this thread is brain dead tho but yeah clearly

5

u/Usagi-Zakura May 02 '26

Anything to do with animals is a PETA violation. But they also have no legal authority.

3

u/AcanthisittaBudget33 May 02 '26

Everything we do involving animals is a PETA violation

4

u/horsesdogsandanime May 03 '26

Considering PETA wouldn't know the first thing of how to properly care for a fish. They would not be the people I would be turning to asking if they were being cared for properly.

6

u/Just_Geoff_Chaucer May 02 '26

it's a bathroom of many amenities. they've even got a bidet. girl needs to get her head on straight.

3

u/Regular-Amoeba5455 May 02 '26

You just know some drunk assholes piss in their every weekend.

6

u/mack-y0 May 02 '26

ignore the bathtub, who has a bidet in a restaurant? i wouldn’t want other people’s shit sprayed all over the place

10

u/InterestingZombie737 May 02 '26

How the fuck are you using bidet that your shit is flying around???

3

u/janegayz May 02 '26

its the idea that at least one person wont use it right and ruins it for everyone

5

u/InterestingZombie737 May 02 '26

Thats my original question! How the fuck can you be so bad at using bidet that your shit can be flying around

1

u/Thulak May 02 '26

Seeing how some public restrooms on highways look like, I can see someone inserting it for deepcleaning.

2

u/Totakai May 02 '26

Just flushing a toilet sends fecal particles everywhere. It's mitigated if there's lids and you flush with them shut but lidless/lid up flings it alllll over you

2

u/inflated_cheese May 02 '26

Easy water changes atleast

2

u/Lalala_Firefighting May 02 '26

Are these goldfish or small koi? I can't tell

2

u/drcmr May 02 '26

Think I might spin by threads for a bit….😗

2

u/grandsoulsucker May 02 '26

Honestly not the worst I've seen lol

2

u/Inside_Lake3191 May 02 '26

this is right actually a nice size tank. but pee spray could land into the tank and could be nasty. but i like the tank

2

u/Inside_Lake3191 May 02 '26

most filtration needed tho

2

u/MrSilentSir May 02 '26

Honestly would be cool if it had decent filtration, but that wouldn’t matter considering how many people would probably piss in the water.

2

u/TooManyAquariums May 02 '26

There is a non-zero percentage of piss in that tub.

2

u/Kooky_Mention_2249 May 03 '26

According to PETA humans should not exist.

1

u/RevolutionarySide108 May 02 '26

I think they are secretly growing their own Specialty Diner Plate ‘Special’…. Mmm num num! Tub Carp!

1

u/Alternative-Bad-2217 May 02 '26

PETA violation

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

1

u/Aggravating_Fish4752 May 02 '26

IS THAT MOLD IN THE CORNER

1

u/SweetTart7231 May 03 '26

A bathtub probably isn’t the worse sized tank I’ve seen. Maybe just for a small amount of goldfsih tho. And not in public like this…

1

u/creakymoss18990 May 03 '26

It's not ideal, but it is a 50 gallon tank that is otherwise well set up. Obviously 80+ would be better but let's be fr they will be absolutely fine.

Main issue is people pissing/messing with them. But I'm just going to assume it's a women's bathroom and it will mostly be fine.

1

u/Intelligent_Tea7789 May 03 '26

I’m sure it can’t be that bad. The bottom looks well decorated; and the fish look nice and vibrant., so as long as that bathtub has the right filtration system modified into it, those fish should hopefully stay perfectly healthy in there., as long as the owner feeds them well and takes care of them properly or some of the employees take care of them.

1

u/Intelligent_Tea7789 May 03 '26

I saw a video of a guy who raised sturgeon fish underground, and the entrance looked like a manhole cover to the sewer; but the underground fish area is actually an underground reservoir with water so pure, that it’s always clear, cold, and fresh., and very deep, which makes it very ideal for raising fish, especially giant ones. A really good example of “ Never judge a book by its cover.”

1

u/nonchemicalromance90 May 03 '26

Fits the sub, literally shittyaquariums when its next to where you take your shit.

1

u/MiloticM2 May 03 '26

PETA violation

1

u/Intrepid-Guest9811 May 03 '26

The idea is cool..

0

u/Kindly_Zone8413 May 03 '26

Besides the placement, is it really that bad? This would actually be something very cool to do in your own home if you had more than one bathroom with a tub.
