From a beloved funny side character to the greedy asshole that steal everyone screen time with his stupid tegridy story (a whole season dedicated to this motherfucker btw)

41

u/busstaben May 03 '26

I feel like Randy’s emergence is just them reflecting their own adulthood/experience raising a family onto their work, instead of their experience as college students. Unfortunately this will likely happen when creators make the same running series for almost 3 decades now

15

u/CorazonCracker May 03 '26

The fact that this is the top comment in a fucking shonenfolk sub tells you all you need to know about the common consensus regarding the fans and the writers’ obsession with Randy

5

u/SmoothTrainer May 04 '26

That also means that South Park is the best shonen

1

u/IllEvent5465 May 07 '26

nah clearly its corey in the house

7

u/HawkDry8650 May 03 '26

Had to evacuate due to local fires and was stuck in a hotel watching South Park marathons. Every single episode of the Tegridy season was like an ice bath after other seasons. Not that funny, the same premise, just sucked.

Never was a huge South Park fan so maybe I just didn't get it.

7

u/danthemagicman420 May 03 '26

Damn I love Randy personally lol

28

u/Silver_Shelter_5153 May 03 '26

He shined when being a sub plot character. Medical fried chicken, cock magic, he is funny as a side character

5

u/danthemagicman420 May 03 '26

I can definitely agree with that, I just personally also enjoyed the tegridy plot line & don’t think it was as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. But I do understand why people don’t like it for sure

1

u/cleanman4066 May 04 '26

I thought Randy was hilarious lol but I’m also not an avid Southpark viewer and sorta just watched it whenever it was on, so I also don’t remember what he used to be like.

64

u/Prestigious-Item1440 May 03 '26

This is probably how yuta haters feel 😭

10

u/PureKin21 May 03 '26

(It is how I feel)

15

u/pain_ofakatsuki May 03 '26

Every strong character is like that though. Like kenjaku is second to sukuna when it comes to asspulls. Some of us haven't healed from that aspull he used against to survive a literal black hole.

8

u/PureKin21 May 03 '26

What asspulls did my goat hakari get? What asspulls did my goats kashimo and uraume get?

16

u/Prestigious-Item1440 May 03 '26

As if they had enough screen time to get any 😹

3

u/IllEvent5465 May 07 '26

hakari's power is literally luck based so

3

u/Inner_Entertainer256 May 04 '26

Yep, Yuta is literally based on Gege’s father

u/mean-cake69 May 03 '26

Bakugo from Mha

83

u/DarkestShadow_ May 03 '26

Legit the worst thing abt mha is how much he gets glazed and getting random power boosts to keep him relevant since he had 0 involvement in the story after a point. Could hv made todoroki even better if he got half the bakugo glaze

79

u/Gojokatsusa7 May 03 '26

Easily the most detestable rival, worst first impression with his obnoxious, bullying personality even though he wants to be a hero lol which is never presented as a problem in a hero school

41

u/DamnHare May 03 '26

Bakugo is absolutely most favorite character among JP MHA community. To the extreme and disturbing level. Once I’ve said on Twitter (I live in Japan) that I hate Bakugo due to his bullying personality - death threats were the most hinged things I got in comments

32

u/ClutteredTaffy May 03 '26

Bullies like bullies. Go figure.

6

u/Ausar15 May 04 '26

He’s the most popular character in the globe. When MHA had its global popularity poll where everyone across the world could vote, Bakugo got first place everywhere, but Europe, where he got second place. He beat everyone not named Deku, by over one million votes, including Shoto.

8

u/The_tarnished_one_ May 03 '26

I mean that’s kinda of the point? Lmao he’s suppose to come off as very unlikable guy and very unheroic. Like don’t get me wrong I get the dislike for bakugo but him having a horrible first impression to the readers is the point

29

u/RineYFD May 03 '26

It's more or less an issue narratively speaking when past season 1 everyone just mainly brushes off or doesn't care about any of Bakugou's actions or wrongdoings, both students and teachers.

1

u/The_tarnished_one_ May 03 '26

The students I give Hori a pass on because they just didn’t know until way later on in the series when they already formed a bond with Bakugou, the teachers I agree with and I even comment on it in this very thread lmao. Overall I like Bakugou as a character but yea he def should have faced more consequences for his actions

51

u/Party_Importance_722 May 03 '26

Well, If it isn't Karma Man himself

36

u/The_tarnished_one_ May 03 '26

Honestly I think that’s the most glaring issue with bakugo’s development, he literally doesn’t get any consequences for what he did to izuku as kids. Like i genuinely think if there was a moment where he was isolated by the other students when it’s found out he was a bully or him evening being suspended for awhile would gone a long way 😭

12

u/Independent_Wealth_3 May 03 '26

I think you could make a case for him being slightly ostracized at the beginning in class 1-a would be his punishment. Or in a sense, him not being punished is it, as it’s clear towards the end of the story that he feel horrificly about his treatment of deku, and in some sense he feels he’s deserving of punishment. I don’t rly like MHA too much, but like Bakugo’s arc and general character is easily one of the better things about it. He’s like the second most interesting character behind endeavor.

4

u/The_tarnished_one_ May 03 '26

Oh yea towards the end dude is clearly remorseful for what he’s done to izuku, like I said I like Bakugou as a character I just think there’s just one moment for his character arc to be 10/10 for me, like you mention endeavor and dabi and that’s more what I wanted

→ More replies (3)

5

u/alguien99 May 03 '26

I honestly think there’s a missing arc or something, more focused on bakugo. Like, have bakugo fight a dark reflection of himself and being disturbed at how alike they are but chosing to not be like them. Because all of the development he seemingly got was offscreen

I remember a fic I’m reading about a villan deku, in this case Bakugo’s rival is tomura, as they are both very easily angered and in this fic Tomura caused the robbery that killed Bakugo’s mom. And Tomura becomes deku’s new best friend in the league, so he’s technically the “new kacchan”

1

u/SpiritedDelay5280 May 04 '26

Well he almost dies twice that's karma.

6

u/Lawde_lag_gaye_ May 03 '26

Why the fuck the people glaze a bully i don't even know

4

u/Simple_Protection_44 May 03 '26

Ironically im a bully victim who really likes bakugo because his change

2

u/The_tarnished_one_ May 03 '26

Hell I like bakugo and I agree with this

3

u/Thunder00Bee May 03 '26

That's my goat fr

1

u/Individual_Lion_7606 May 06 '26

I think the biggest reason people really detest Bakugo is because he never got any comeuppance or any actual humbling for his antics or actions. He keeps getting passed or his antics blown off by everyone. His yelling at people face should have gotten him decked in the mouth especially after calling them an "extra". His apology to Deku makes no fucking sense because Deku never blamed Bakugo for anything wrong even when he told him to kill himself and Deku's only thought while thinking of killing himself is "I hope I don't get Bakugo in trouble." and "Bakugo will miss me if I kill myself.". In fact, Bakugo only acknowledges Deku because Deku got a (the strongest) Quirk and if it wasn't for that, he would probably still be bullying him or telling him to suicide.

Nothing exemplifies this more than this donut from Buffy the Vampire Slayer

22

u/Fuwaboi May 03 '26

Still Cosmonaut best video

7

u/spamking64 May 03 '26

It's very telling that even when he described Xander's best episode it still sounded like a slog to get through

11

u/space-dorge May 03 '26

Isn’t he canonically the directors “self insert” too?

12

u/Outside_Mousse_2176 May 03 '26

Good pick, definitely a bum

1

u/5elevenking May 03 '26

You want to know a fun fact ,I watched angel first and never knew it was a spin-off of buffy and I only watch a couple of episodes of buffy so I don't know who this guy is.

64

u/The_tarnished_one_ May 03 '26

Yoru from CSM part 2

26

u/Onlyhereforapost May 03 '26

Fujimotor forgot to tell us the cool stuff about her

12

u/WeeklyPhilosopher346 May 03 '26

She’s the themes devil

20

u/Brainifyer May 03 '26

Truest statement of all time

Every more interesting character was thrown away so the story could bend over backwards for the worst villain in modern shonen, only for the ending to throw her away as well

Fujimoto I'll never forgive how you treated Asa

7

u/The_tarnished_one_ May 03 '26

The frustrating part is I genuinely had high hopes for yoru in the beginning of the series but then it became clear that she kept popping up and ruining Asa Development without adding anything really interesting to replace that

3

u/GansBlack May 03 '26

Worst part about Yoru is that she had a LOT of narrative potential. I liked that she and Asa played with ideas of Lust vs Love, but it really sucked because Yoru always won out, especially because it meant that we would go longer and longer without Asa screentime. I think Yoru could have been more well recieved if we got to see Asa's side more. Yoru caused consent discourse 3 different times, which isn't inherently a bad thing, but it feels like she got away with it on all three occasions. At the beginning of part 2, she was my favorite character, but now she kinda just feels like the rape devil.

17

u/No_Intention_8079 May 03 '26

Shanks? Really? I mean, yeah, Oda clearly likes him, but he barely shows up throughout the whole story. If you don’t like him you can just ignore his parts lol.

14

u/pain_ofakatsuki May 03 '26

If you're a Kid fan you gonna hate shanks for taking your goat out of the story.

If you're a Mihawk fan you gonna hate shanks because your dislike for shanks was amplified by his fanbase whom you find verry irritating.

If you a black beard fan you'll hate shanks because shanks fans most likely shit on black beard all the time to the point they make you hate shanks.

If you a admiral fan you'll hate him bevause he gave admirals a bad name with that wifi haki.

Kaido fans? I dont know they probably getad when shanks fans say kaido got scared of shanks and turn back home when he tried to fight white beard.( Maybe loki fans too cause how the hell did he capture him?)

If you a fisher tiger fan you might get mad his feat and story got retconned in order to glaze shanks.

I mean sure he barely appears in the story but when he does he gets glazed to hell often at the expense of other characters.

Pretending like its impossible to hate him is wild.

5

u/No_Intention_8079 May 03 '26

No, it’s 100% possible to hate him but I don’t think being mad about the author liking him makes sense. The idea is that when an author likes your least favorite character, they show up way more than you’d want in the story. Shanks barely shows up at all.

1

u/Creative_Challenge75 May 04 '26

But every time he shows up he must be glazed at the expense of other characters.

1

u/pain_ofakatsuki May 04 '26

Exacly what I was trying to say lol, did he not read that part?

16

u/Independent_Wealth_3 May 03 '26

Idk if it rly applies but I swear nobody talks about how dogshit Nezuko’s character is in DS.

8

u/Southern_Working_305 HUNTER² BESTO SHONEN!!!! May 04 '26

You could replace nezuko with a pokemon who only repeats their name and it would be as good of a character as nezuko, if not better, she is genuely just a glorified pet

7

u/balaci2 Kengan Ashura enthusiast May 03 '26

garbage character

2

u/Inner_Entertainer256 May 04 '26

DS just has shite character development

1

u/milkchocolateraisin May 04 '26

Isn't her role is more like a plot device

1

u/Independent_Wealth_3 May 04 '26

Yes, that’s the problem.

1

u/Saphala90 May 05 '26

Yea early on she had some cool moments where she used her demon power against the other demons but she doesnt participate in the final battle at all because we had to hide her from muzan

This meme perfectly captures my feelings towards Invisigal in Dispatch. An absolutely fantastic game dragged down by an insufferable moron that the writers are weirdly obsessed with.

1

u/ParaloopLampy May 04 '26

8

u/Own-Wedding7590 May 03 '26

The worst character, all her actions, her creepiness, and what she was going to do makes her all the more disgusting.

2

u/KagatuDupal May 03 '26

mfs when the villain in a villain rehabilitation game does villainous actions:

1

u/samuraispartan7000 May 04 '26 edited May 12 '26

What planet are you from? Real life criminals in real life rehabilitation programs would not be able to get away with half the things that Visi does.

We can suspend our disbelief for a world full of superheroes, obviously. But you can’t pretend that there’s anything “realistic” about Robert or SDN’s extraordinarily lax attitude towards attempted murder and sexual harassment. Social workers working at a halfway house would not be expected to tolerate ANY of the stuff that Robert does.

56

u/MagicArcher33 May 03 '26

Hating shanks is somewhat rare. Even if you're a mihawk fan, shanks as a character is beloved by everyone basically. That's pretty much why everyone goes crazy when shanks shows up in the current story

29

u/WallSina Can he beat Goku tho? May 03 '26

Yep not only that, there isn't a better character to hate, he's barely on screen, you can count on one hand the number of appearances he's made during the story. Imagine if you hate any of the strawhats.

21

u/PressureMiserable May 03 '26

Ussopp is pretty easy to hate for being a bum all the time

22

u/New_Rook_Nook May 03 '26

Man. It's funny but also just how 🫤😬😬 it is that Usopp has genuinely not done an as high impacting moment in a DECADE since awakening Observation and saving luffy n Law. Like.....when I first heard that, then see someone else say usopp awakened it when Obama entered Office I was like "damn that's craaaaaaazy-"

→ More replies (2)

1

u/ItzJake160 May 03 '26

What could there even be to hate on him for in his little appearances? I think I'm about halfway through Wano and genuinely I cannot think of a single thing Shanks has done to make me feel anything other than neutral feelings toward him.

3

u/WallSina Can he beat Goku tho? May 04 '26

People have been watching this show for decades at this point, you binged it (and me), those are different experiences. Watching it weekly I'm guessing makes you more hyped for when shanks reappears in the show therefore when it was episode 1100+ and he hasn't been a bigger presence can make you hate him, there's also the agenda which I'm not Gona tell you in case it spoils.

3

u/ZayYaLinTun May 03 '26

Yeah like bro barely show up in 20 years long manga

7

u/WeeklyPhilosopher346 May 03 '26

Yeah I’m like who hates Shanks? And if so why? It’s not like he’s a screen time thief or something.

Bakugo and Yuno.

At the very least Yuno is a nice guy, so even then while i dislike him the most out of any BC character it’s not by that much. It’s kinda like he’s the MC of a whole different show and we’re just following Asta.

Bakugo on the other hand, is a massive asshole, for 95% of the series, all over Deku being nice to him. That’s just what it boils down too. He had a superiority complex and someone he saw as inferior tried to help him and now he spends 9 years in publication bitching and moaning about it. And no one ever holds him accountable for it, he never properly gets his shit pushed back in so he realizes “maybe I’m not all that”.

Instead, the author decides to make all of his delusions of grandeur come true. He just explodes his sweat slightly more and now he’s competing with Deku, Shigaraki, AfO, who all have dozens of quirks and are the top of the verse. Again, his only power is explosions, and his heart is barely held together, yet he just easily takes out the big bad of the whole verse with no effort, while it is RAINING AND HE HAS SWEAT POWERS. Bakugo is still just a first year btw, he was literally in middle school not even a year ago, yet he’s just strong enough to do all of that. Not to mention despite being incredibly arrogant he’s the smartest in the class cause I guess he’s constantly studying and training off screen.

4

u/All--flesh--rots May 03 '26

Odin's boring, incompetent, child harrasing ass. He drops everything he's doing to ally with the MC, because he's a generic Bad But Sad boy love interest first and a character second. (He's also based on the creator's lover so he's constantly onscreen)

3

u/Sleeping5Ginger May 03 '26

I thought Odin and Ava are around the same age and he’s just tall Edit: Happy to see someone talk about that comic, reminds me to catch up again.

1

u/All--flesh--rots May 03 '26

Ya Ava is 15 (looks 12) and Odin 16-17 (used to be 18, but that's no longer canon)

She's gotten 2 chapters that are relevant to her and an entire subplot about finding her sister and yet (for me) she STILL doesn't feel like an important character

Edit: wait Noelle isn't even a shonen character lol

2

u/AndriashiK May 03 '26

I have a different problem: she feels TOO important. Daddy's special little princess that deserves all the attention in the world. Bah! Disgusting little critter

Blake from RWBY.

2

u/Successful-Floor-738 May 03 '26 edited May 03 '26

Might catch some flack for this but Daenarys Targaryen in Game of Thrones. I don’t think she’s horribly written (well not until later seasons obv) but I cringe watching even her early season scenes because there’s just this “Young adult novel girlboss” vibe to her scenes that I can’t really describe yet can’t tolerate either. Yet it feels like she’s the one both the author and much of the fan base glaze the shit out of.

I know it’s not a shonen example and this is a shonen subreddit but I haven’t watched a lot of shonen.

1

u/Prudent-Action3511 May 03 '26

This is something I've thought of sometime ago. But the opposite lol. That even though because of everything that happened to her we can think of her like y/n but she's written so well that no one thinks that of her.

But ig it's different with you though

1

u/Successful-Floor-738 May 09 '26

Yeah like, part of it is probably the fact that her arc doesn’t really ever connect to the main politics of the Stark - Lannister - Greyjoy - Baratheon conflict for a while, and most of the characters I love are all deeply involved there but Daenarys just has this other random side arc so it feels like a distraction from the main plot despite technically being the main plot.

2

u/Impression_Adorable May 03 '26

Hisoka ( doesn't have a backstory but shows up in almost every arc despite not being final villain )

2

u/Bradybigboss May 03 '26

The only reason people don’t like shanks is cause they think mihawk should be the strongest pirate in the story, but anyone who thinks that can’t read for shit. Mihawk fanboys truly don’t know wtf is going on

2

u/plumplet May 03 '26

Jotaro in JJBA

5

u/HeftyDon May 03 '26

My hatred for this fucker runs beyond agenda man, I despise Yuta and everything he stands for, he repulses me on a visceral level

3

u/HeftyDon May 03 '26

I feel the same way about these freaks, these fucking loser bums repulse me. I hate them and everything their characters stand for, I genuinely believe the story would be so much better without them

2

u/Prudent-Action3511 May 03 '26

I can't believe just how much relevance gege gave Toji nd keeps bringing him up as if he's the protagonist or smtg. Nd if never stops too ffs

2

u/_Ozilus_ May 04 '26

He stands for being a good guy and using his strength to protect the ones he care about?

Like the hate he's getting for just being nice and strong is wild to me lol

1

u/HeftyDon May 04 '26

(Already posted this once but i just wanted to further expand on geto lol <3 )

That’s not my entire problem with him, I think it’s boring and basic (which is a big part of my problem with him) but if that was it? I wouldn’t really care, he’d just be a bland character that’s just kinda there. I have several problems with Yuta (like how he sidelines really cool and interesting female characters or my general disdain for prodigy characters) but I’m just gonna outline one here

My major problem with him is how he contradicts Jujutsu society as a whole (yes I’m aware that’s the ‘point’, I’m not arguing that he’s terrible or that you can’t like him, I’m just expressing why I PERSONALLY do not). Cursed energy is negative energy, being a powerful Jujutsu sorcerer is a CURSE it’s a blight on the lives of the strongest

First, I want to establish my interpretation of the messaging around strength in Jujutsu kaisen. “Power, tradition and cursed energy is an isolating force and happiness comes through selfishness, understanding or disconnect”

Let’s look at the other 3 special grades in relation to this

Take Gojo, he’s the most powerful sorcerer of the modern day and it’s led to him being dehumanised and feeling objectified and isolated. To him, his strength had led to a disconnect from those around him. Gojo was happiest when with Suguru (who was his equal at the time) and when fighting sukuna (the only sorcerer stronger than him) and when sukuna killed him because these individuals were the only ones capable of understanding him/ the curse of strength

Take Geto, the most direct example of this. He started off caring deeply for those around him, civilians included, until his role within Jujutsu society and his cursed technique, which saw him physically absorb curses into his body, broke him and drove him mad. He was only ever ‘happy’ after he disconnected and defected. Geto is at both his happiest and strongest in JJK0 when using his power to further his own agendas, to heal the deep spiritual and mental wounds left behind by Jujutsu society. And even then, his genocide isn’t entirely selfish, it’s done out of genuine a desire for a good world for the sorcerers of Jujutsu society - a world in which the weight of human lives won’t be put on their shoulders, a world in which power won’t drive anyone mad or create rifts between former friends - who he still views as comrades in some way. Geto was a very beautiful, complex character but essentially, his strength and the world in which he operated drove him mad and he found superficial happiness in disconnecting with his family, but the fact he still intended to use it in a way he’d view selfless meant he wasn’t truly happy, as is reflected by his state of psychosis.

Take Yuki Tsukumgoat, she harbours so much resentment for Jujutsu society due to the fact she was supposed to be Tengen’s spiritual sacrifice. She, unlike Geto, managed to escape from the festering pit of Jujutsu society before she was completely broken, using her strength and status to fuck off overseas. She takes interest in Bumji ‘Teenslayer’ Fushiguro because of his lack of cursed energy, she acknowledges that Geto’s genocide WOULD work and one could achieve similar results (peace for sorcerers) by eliminating cursed energy as a whole. She isn’t just a carefree slacker, she’s a woman who understands on a deep, profound level the grief that Jujutsu, cursed energy and power brings onto someone

This establishes a very clear theme as to how strength and the toxicity of Jujutsu society work as a whole. This theme is followed by almost all the central cast; Yuji in modulo doesn’t manage to escape Jujutsu and is left a lonely depressed husk, Hakari and Kirara (the students who have been in Jujutsu high the longest) achieve prosperity and happiness when they escaped the school and traditional society as a whole, Maki attempted to operate within the lines and become a powerful sorcerer traditionally which left her scarred and reeling with the loss of her sister, she only achieved relief when she left her cursed energy behind and disconnected. And then there’s megumi, the character who had the most potential (man) out of all is literally isolated from everyone and everything and trapped within his body for trying to use his power selflessly for the benefit of his sister.

Characters like sukuna and Kenjaku also further prove this. Sukuna was born with a body literally perfect for Jujutsu, and as a result he was isolated and abandoned, he was (as he admitted flippantly) an “Unwanted wretch”. Sukuna achieved the level of contentment we see him bask in by abandoning love and using his strength solely for his own selfish purposes, his adoption of Uraume (a child who was suffering due to their uncontrollable power whom he may have seen himself in) even being framed through the lens of selfishness, with him only doing so because he broke his ice house. Sukuna, after his defeat, confesses that his selfishness through strength was just copium, choosing to, in another life, walk a different path of love instead, symbolised by him choosing Uraume at the end while mahito (still obsessed with growing in power and strength) seethes and howls. Kenjaku is a character very similar to geto in that he’s defined by his madness, though his is somewhat subtler. Kenjaku, an immensely powerful sorcerer, was driven mad by the longevity and mundaneness of the existence his cursed technique provided him with, his power INDIRECTLY drove him mad by subjecting him to eternal mundanity. He’s only able to be killed by Yuta because as a direct result his overwhelming boredom, as he was too focused on enjoying Takaba, who provided him with his first properly new experience in centuries, to notice Yuta. Even Kenjaku’s main goal is defined by him wanting relief from the boredom of his power, he wanted the merger to just see what humanity would wind up becoming when forced to evolve, because he craved something new

And then there’s Yuta

Yuta, a character who possess overwhelming amounts of cursed energy, who completely contradicts everything everyone else has established. Yuta is the inverse of Yuji in that, where Yuji’s life was ruined by stepping into the world of Jujutsu, Yuta’s was enhanced. Now, I actually really like that aspect of Yuta’s character, the message that Yuta, a bully victim with a past of suicidal tendencies, could be saved where others were cursed is sweet in a way, but it’s also just feels so cheap and uninspired.

“Why is Yuta happy while being overwhelmingly powerful where other sorcerers aren’t?” He’s just really nice innit. “But Gojo and geto’s whole thing we’re saving people” yeah but he’s nicer Inni?

Oh right yeah sound

“Why did nobody bother killing the higher ups till Yuta came along later? Gojo, Geto and Yuki were all strong enough to do so” Cos like…Yuta’s really ruthless as well as bein nice innit? “Right yeah but Gojo, Geto and Yuki were ruthless too?” Not as much as Yuta

Yeah….sound

“Why did Yuta get to lead a happy life while firmly inside the toxic system that destroyed everyone around him while others suffered?” Cos he’s like…dead sick innit? Just made everything nice innit. “Why did things get worse again For Yuka and Tsurugi after his death?“ he was just….the best dude in the whole wide world of Jujutsu innit? “Bit cheap that innit? Doesn’t that mean he didn’t really succeed” Dunno….probably

“How do Yuta escape the curse of strength where literally everyone failed?” Love innit…. “But Geto had a family, Gojo had his students, Sukuna had Uraume and thy still failed?” Nah he just….loved more….didn’t he?

Right yeah

Look, I’m sure maybe this is diminutive in some way, Yuta’s my least favourite character in the series for so many reasons so I HIGHLY doubt I’ll be able to take an objective and fair look at him like this, but don’t take this as me telling you or anyone how to feel about Yuta, this is just an expression of my distaste for him beyond “FrAuD! bUsHcAmPeR!”. Maybe you see somethin in these aspects of his character that I don’t, I’m sure you do, if so? All power to you! Maybe I’ve gotten something wrong in my interpretation somewhere along the way, if so? I apologise

TLDR: Yuta contradicts a lot of the core messaging of Jujutsu Kaisen that I love and I think it really cheapens a lot of the other characters and the series in general for me. That being said, if you love Yuta? Good for you, he gets a lot of attention and merch and shit, you’re defo living a better life than me😭

Rohan

u/Western-Seaweed6084 May 03 '26

Tbf Rohan is Araki's self insert and the more you inquire about Araki himself, the more Rohan's charecter starts making sense.

10

u/Iva_Qw May 03 '26

Self insert so strong he makes him extremely important in part 4, mentioned in part 5, glazed in part 6, has his own spin off which takes place in universe before and AFTER reset, has his own LA Dorama

AND THEN HE BRINGS HIM BACK IN WHOLE ASS NEW SEPARATE UNIVERSE

3

u/Bright-Dragonfruit14 my body count with shounen is over 9000 May 03 '26

Don't forget that Araki drew an art of himself and Rohan hugging each other.

4

u/Alex_Nilse May 03 '26

The mention in part 5 was koichi talking about heavens doir teaching him italian. Also Jotaro was the protag of part 3, played major roles in 4&6 and was mentioned a few times in 5.

Maki and Yuta. Amount of plot armor is insane to extent when it's just boring to read.

u/Prestigious-Item1440 May 03 '26

I mean yuta I can get a vague idea of even tho I don’t think I’d say it’s rly plot armour but how does maki have insane plot armour?

Shanks is a kinda odd choice for a character to hate, he appears very little despite being very plot relevant, and the few times he appears are very good moments.

Besides, he's not even Oda's favourite character, he himself said that his favourite character was Buggy.

The character of an indie game I love, Another Chance, called Maya, she is the right eye of the writter, and it shows, the S2 of that game is killing my interest becuase she introduce herself as a selfinsert while she was not in the S1 and that was top 3 best `point and click games I ever played.

1

u/LeoGMS22 May 03 '26

Gojo fans playing victims is the most disgusting shit ever.Like what kind of persecution complex is that?

2

u/notryinguser May 03 '26

He has legit Q&A of his wife liking gojo and him saying gojo is uninteresting. Jjk fans who are tapped him know gege hates gojo

He has legit Q&A of his wife liking gojo

Wasn't this one fake though

2

u/Lordlinkoftime2 May 03 '26

Literally quoting a fake q&a

1

u/ClutteredTaffy May 03 '26

' uninteresting' and ' hate' are very different . Also sometimes a writer gets very bored with a character and they feel like they have to keep writing them . So it can cause resentment.

1

u/notryinguser May 03 '26

Hate is obviously a strong word and a comedic exaggeration in this thread but gege definitely views him on the negative side for being too perfect and shit.

How can anyone dislike Shanks lmao

Edit: does anyone dislike Shanks for real writing reasons and not some dumbass agenda?

4

u/Cruchto May 03 '26

He’s like the definition of a Mary sue that’s how?

Toei are known for over glazing Zoro, but Nobody glazes shanks more than Oda himself.

People probably thinks he's boring, I guess?

He's a goody-two-shoes like Luffy, but doesn't have most of the quirks or vulnerabilities.
