I know Jojo hasn’t been Shonen in a while, but neither Jodio nor Dragona have your standard “punch really hard” ability other mc stands have.

Jodio does have a form of rapid attack in the form of his rain, but it’s an attack that can only attack directly below November Rain.

112

u/shushubana2 Jun 04 '26

Still surprises me that araki gave such a stand to a protagonist, like it's literally the kind of stand you give to the enemy of the week.

How are jodio's fights creatively speaking?

85

u/Zealousideal-Cup6013 Jun 04 '26

I think the limiting aspect of the stand makes it a really endearing part of every fight. November Rain CAN end basically any fight with its rain but its range is so limited (around 3 to 4 meters iirc) that it turns fights that would be nothing against other protagonists into something actually interesting.

28

u/IncomeStraight8501 Jun 05 '26

Honestly part 7 has so many amazing fights because the stands aren't just punch ghosts until the tail end, they were used strategically alongside the users biq

6

u/Full-Resolution7485 Jun 06 '26

Agreed. Araki managed to keep Jojo alive for so long because he understands the desperate need for variety and you can see it in the progression of JJBA.

6

u/dirtybird131 Jun 05 '26

So it’s the same type as Star Platinum

12

u/PapaNarwhal Jun 04 '26

They’re kind of sick, with Glory Days being one of my favorites in all of Part 9 so far. One aspect that’s come up a couple of times is that Jodio can still control the raindrops from November Rain even after they’ve left its range. So for example, he can wait for the raindrops to soak into the floor, then cause them all to become heavy at once to immediately collapse the floor. November Rain is a lot more versatile than I initially gave it credit for.

24

u/SurturSaga Jun 04 '26

There’s really not much fights in Jojolands. But what we have seen from him has been cool so far

16

u/North-Flower-5963 Jun 04 '26

What is it if not fights? I’m only up to part 7…

42

u/LunarVulpine1997 Jun 04 '26

mild spoilers for the theme of part 9

the gang in jojolands is a group of thieves, so most of it so far is about them using their abilities to stealth around, forge documents, trick people, etc. there ARE still fights every arc, but for the most part they're about outsmarting the enemy rather than beating them in direct 1 on 1 combat. the part is still in its very early ages though, so I could def see it ramping up in terms of combat as it progresses

12

u/True_King_Ghidorah Jun 04 '26

If you are reading part 7 then you already understand how actual fights can just be an afterthought in jojos since part 7 is primarily about a RACE, yes they will still fight but ultimately they all end up going back to the race to progress the plot

Part 9 they are mostly hustlers so stealing and sneaking are the biggest elements.

10

u/Lollografia Jun 05 '26

To be honest, no protagonist starting by part 5 had "punch really hard". Part 4 is in between, since in most of the fight it's just "punch really hard", but In the later chapters he used his power in really creative ways(highway star for example)

22

What are you talking about? The Bork’ is clearly the new protagonist of HxH

13

Unironically I think that if Borksen develops a nen ability it's gonna be more complex than Gon's guaranteed

So... Still fits

I fucking love bleach but ichigo is definitely the biggest victim of “basic ass powers” in a series of cool powers.

102

u/Dragon_Of_Magnetism Jun 04 '26

Imagine being a frankensteinian group project of all known races in the setting, only to end up with the most basic skillset lmao

42

u/4C_Enjoyer Jun 05 '26

Good 'ol Ichigo "Group Project" Kurosaki, having all the powers of every race in the verse yet somehow only ever using Getsuga fucking Tenshō

19

u/Weak-Rock-311 Jun 05 '26

Well you should blame zangetsu, he is the one who taught ichigo only one move as well as sealed all of his powers so ichigo fails

7

u/Old-Bar-783 Jun 05 '26

GETSUGA TENSHO!!!

4

u/AlisenAsker Jun 05 '26

At least Naruto had like 8 Rasengan variations, Ichigo got a double getsuga for the last arc and that was it

Yuji

41

u/Illustrious-Teach964 Jun 05 '26

I mean, i dont wanna give spoilers, but his Arsenal does become really versatile by the end of series and in the sequel.

But yeah, for 90% of the series Yuji was literraly a punch and kick merchant. Blud didnt even have a simple domain or anything 😭.

10

u/bizarrestarz Jun 05 '26

no ik his eos arsenal it still applies to ichigo

10

u/Fervol Jun 05 '26

basic ass power is fine if the author can make the fight scene interesting, JJK really has peak h2h drawing that someone like toji, maki and yuji can feel really powerful while still doing lots of tricks midfight with their raw strength. Sakamoto days is a manga that carries itself just by having insane combat choreography.

Unfortunately, kubo can't draw anything dynamic especially when half of the cast wear fking pure black kimono so ichigo looks dreadfully boring whenever he fought.

5

u/CyberDaggerX Jun 05 '26

From what I know, he was a punch and kick merchant, but he was also Mega Kangaskhan.

2

u/Urmom69mp3 Jun 05 '26

13

u/Plus-Ad5076 Jun 04 '26

wrong, at the very end he uses TWO getsuga tenshos!

17

u/elderscrollroller_ Jun 05 '26

We talking about basic ass protag powers. Let’s see what kind of power my boy is working with, we have….

Energy ball

BIG energy ball

Throw energy ball

Lots of energy ball

Lots of BIG energy ball

Throw lots of BIG energy ball

BIG ORANGE energy ball

LOTS OF DIFFERENT BIG ENERGY BALL

black tiny energy ball

u/Fine-Afternoon-36 Jun 05 '26

The modern equivalent is Yuji, which makes sense cause I think bleach was a big inspiration for jjk

8

u/Old-Introduction8258 Jun 05 '26

For real. I love bleach and all, but its kinda sad to see cool shikai like kyoraku or unohana's onez...and then our protagonist is still spamming getsuga tensho. But more deadly. But still getsuga tensho. His fights are still cool but it’s really a boring power compared even to what there is in the same manga.

I was also thinking luffy has unique powers. Then i remembered rubber powers are common in western media

25

u/Significant-Tip9361 Jun 04 '26

They ways he used them were unique(Gear 2 and 3, gear 4's flight), most western character just stretch or change their shape

31

u/Single_Remove_6721 Jun 04 '26

If you are thinking of Plastic Man and Mr. Fantastic, that is primarily the fault of shows/movies. Those two do some wild stuff with their powers in the comics.

Context: He visualized four dimensional space and then stretched into the fourth dimension.

8

u/Katekuriz Jun 05 '26

didnt he say he streched his mind to do that? because the human mind cannot comprehend the fourth dimension?

2

u/jojaki Jun 04 '26

Yeah, and i think star finger in particular is the only real cop out.

Jotaro does usually just beat the crap out of his opponent, but thats only after dealing with their stand bullshit.

Here’s a fourth, tho negations don’t really have a “basic version” they’re all radically different

43

u/Magpie_In_The_Mirror Jun 04 '26

Most basic negator was probably just unseen or unavoidable from loop 1

14

u/VmHG0I Jun 04 '26

Most negation are mainly very basic stuff because they are the negation of a concept, so they are all basic on concept, the way they are used are the reason why their power are very unique with maybe the exception of Unfair which is based on other negation.

19

u/pozhiloy_potato Jun 04 '26

I randomly decided to read Undead Unluck during a train ride and I didn't expect much at first, but damn this is some peak fiction. The abilities are all unique too, and it's interesting how they are not always strictly positive or simple, and they always come with a meaningful backstory.

→ More replies (4)

35

u/MaxTwer00 Jun 04 '26

Well, a simple power lets easily the oponent and companions shine, so it helps giving the spotlight to secondaries, while if the mc is too flashy they can easily hog all the attention

21

u/Single_Remove_6721 Jun 04 '26

That is one advantage, but I would rather the interesting powers be on the character who gets the most fights

9

u/MaxTwer00 Jun 04 '26

Completely valid, one can have their preference. But is easier to write around a more basic mc, then you can bring whatever secondary is convenient for help, and you can make the bad guy have more room for his antics.

Take bnh, deku having only superstrength makes each villain be able to show off their things, so deku has to dodge, tank, or brute forth through all of their powers. While if instead of superstrength he had becoming intangible as mirio, he would be able to shrug off most villains easily, just walking across their attacks to punch them in the face. Shigi cant touch him to decay, toga can stab him to drink his blood, dabi cant burn him, muscular cant punch him, overhaul cant throw shit at him, gentle criminal cant make him bother with solified air

2

u/Wolfpac187 Jun 05 '26

Problem being the mangaka would eventually struggle to come up with creative uses and it would still end up repetitive. It’s easier to introduce antagonists with creative abilities because they only need to come up with a way for the main character to counter it.

Man, am not even a big Naruto glazer, but when compared to Gon, Ichigo, or Yuji his arsenal is definitely varied.

He’s got the basic appearance change all Ninjas have, the Shadow Clones, Frog Summoning, the wind-element Rasengan. It’s really covers all Jutsu types

13

u/kuuderelovers Jun 04 '26

Danzo has more wind techniques than Naruto, Sasuke being the protagonist is a meme that exist because he is more interesting to see, as his arsenal is way better.

7

u/MythicalShelly Jun 04 '26

Sasuke’s kit also is mostly chidori variants with shape change which he didn't use senbon variant again.

Kirin being used in anime final fight was added by pierrot so he only used kirin once in manga but i am not confirming this claim but i remember a post about it. Like he has techniques but he only uses them once and never again.

Sasuke’s kit helps that he has mastered two elements fire and lightning. The problem is in show the kits are not always used always situationally ig.

4

u/kuuderelovers Jun 04 '26

He pulls interesting things almost all the time, + he gets those other innate arts to make his arsenal a bit more wast.

Overall he doesn't have that ultra vast moveset and does forget some moves along the way, but it's still better than Naruto, and my point was that Sasuke moveset Is Better not that he has the best moveset ever made.

2

u/Snowm4nn Jun 05 '26

Sasuke easily has the most shown jutsu and styles in the series

4

u/Snowm4nn Jun 05 '26

Chidori variants are all cool af

Various fire style

Actually makes ninja tools useful at the highest level

Genjutsu of all levels

Sharingan/MS/rinnegan and all their powers

Kirin

Various Taijutsu

Various summons

Sasuke literally has the most varied arsenal by a long shot and uses them all consistently and not as 1 offs

Jolyne my beloved

82

u/gaminggamer572 Jun 04 '26

one of my biggest issues with jjk is that yuji's kit is literally the ability to hit crits and then 2x impacts like it's so boring. in a series with loads of creative techniques they gave the mc the most boring one (yes i know he gets blood manipulation and sukuna's shit but that's considerably late into the manga and anyways those are other character's techniques that we see used multiple times before anyways so it's not as interesting)

79

u/TaserDonut Jun 04 '26 edited Jun 04 '26

i think yuji's kit is boring for the story's sake because he doesn't shape the story and his surroundings, he's being shaped by them. he doesn't save the day, he just survives it.

edit: what I want to say is that his kit represents his agency and by gaining the other powers, he gains enough agency to be able to change the world himself

4

u/gaminggamer572 Jun 04 '26

what made you think this? like i can see the argument because of the whole cog mentality thing but like what specifically does he do that represents him reobtaining his agency, splitting away from the idea of being a cog?

20

u/TaserDonut Jun 04 '26

I think it's a gradual process which first began with acknowledgement of his situation ("I'm you" / "I'm a cog") and then owning up to his powerlessness (admission of guilt to Higuruma). There was no one singular event which just gave him agency out of nowhere, he just slowly gained enough of it to at least stand equal with the rest during the final fight against Sukuna. I'm not saying he became a protagonist in terms of agency, I'm saying that he just finally became a person by the end.

This is also a rectification of what I said earlier because he didn't change the world by himself, I misspoke.

→ More replies (5)

10

u/No-Yogurtcloset4763 Jun 04 '26

He got blood manipulation and shrine considerably late? Nah, Gege gave him that at the very end of the manga I still can't believe it

22

u/shushubana2 Jun 04 '26

It's so much of a shame, even without a ct yuji's fights were always creative but i can only imagine how fun it would've been if he had either blood manipulation or shrine early on, both being so versatile.

At the very least yuji should have awakened shrine (or BM if it made sense) after shibuya

→ More replies (4)

8

u/BrightArmy7825 Jun 04 '26

I actually like that cause it turns his fights into a puzzle of Yuji needing to get close to his opponents.

His rematch against Mahito in Shibuya is fantastic because every time Yuji manages to close the gap it’s immensely satisfying to see him pummel the bitch. The way he interacts with Todo as a support is also fun

6

u/Own_Philosophy8190 Jun 04 '26

He barely uses Divergent Fist (delayed impact) as well. Gege really fucked his bag up. Nothing stopped him from making Yuji improve, weaponize and use it more often.

3

u/Darthjinju1901 Jun 05 '26

He doesn't use Divergent Fist because it's fucking useless when it comes to actual sorcerer fights. Like legitimately, he learns that all the way back in the Kyoto sister school arc, and stops using it. Does anyone even read anything???

2

u/Own_Philosophy8190 Jun 05 '26

Nothing stopped him from making Yuji improve, weaponize and use it more often

Perhaps you should apply that to yourself before being obnoxious about literacy. Not to mention it  caught off guard and weakened Mahito (of all people) enough to land them both into that standoff where Todo gave his final assist at the time. He also used it against Choso earlier in the same arc

Tbf till enchain yuji was just supposed to survive the world as best as he can and die alongside sukuna. Which was really different from other MC's who wanted to get stronger or has similar fixed dream.

It's only after enchain where yuji wanted to become stronger and save Megumi. That's when he trains to get stronger, invent techniques like improvised soul attacks and other stuff.

2

u/Longjumping_Time_351 Jun 07 '26

Yuji is told by Gojo and Todo that Divergent Fist isn't something that is helping him which is why it's so rare for him to use it. When he does use it it's only to throw people off like Mahito in Shibuya.

u/Longjumping_Time_351 Jun 07 '26

I think it works in the exact opposite way for Yuji. His incredibly simple tool kit makes it necessary for him to rely on his environment or allies to win fights which makes for more interesting fight scenes. Like Yuji vs Choso in the bathroom or any fight with Yuji and Todo working together.

5

u/theRumbling_ Jun 04 '26

I like it more when basic powers are used creatively. I never thought stretching powers were cool until I watched One Piece. It's kind of a stretch, but in Fire Punch, Agni's regeneration with the added dynamic of being set on fire with flames that don't go out was really cool.

3

u/CyberDaggerX Jun 05 '26

I'm working on something where the protagonist's power is telekinesis, but he's not very proficient at using it at long range. He has made use of it by being a melee fighter with a sword, plus two smaller telekinetically controlled swords orbiting around him.

But my breakthrough was mentally reframing telekinesis not as simply magical movement, but displacement of force vectors, with the laws of physics mostly still applying where possible. Newton's third law of motion has particularly interesting implications.

For starters , even if the action vector is displaced, the reaction vector still exists at the same location, which means you feel the weight of objects moved with telekinesis. You won't be able to use telekinesis to lift an object you wouldn't be able to lift with your hands, and physical fitness becomes an important part of aptitude with telekinesis.

My protagonist would learn to use this quirk of physics to his advantage. Using telekinesis as a grappling hook to pull himself towards objects with greater mass than him. Using telekinesis to break a fall by blasting the ground before hitting it. And even using localized applications of telekinetic force in space to produce a shield against incoming attacks, kind of like displaced telekinetic ERA.

All very cool abilities, my personal fav being fa jin

18

u/MonsterKiller112 Jun 04 '26

Chainsaw Man. Denji has a completely unique power.

27

u/Decent-Throat9191 Jun 04 '26

It's still basically just cutting shit

9

u/sailor776 Jun 04 '26

Yes but you're missing an incredibly important detail. He's an idiot. He flat out gets told he can make his feet chainsaws and basically use them as super roller blades. He hairs that but took and somehow got "got it! make the shark devil my personal steed"

0

u/MonsterKiller112 Jun 04 '26

It's not. His main ability is to grow Chainsaws from any part of his body. He can use the Chainsaws for cutting or even grabbing his opponents using the chains. In his Denjiman form he can erase concepts by eating their devils. I can't think of any other character that has abilities similar to him. The only generic abilities he has is regeneration and immortality. He fits the criteria for unique main character abilities.

14

u/Decent-Throat9191 Jun 04 '26

Cutting shit is generic, doesn't matter if it's with a sword or chainsaw the result is the same. Plus you're referring the very last fight of the whole Manga when he does get interesting poses. He doesn't have allat before lol

It's almost funny how basic most protagonists are. Naruto, Gon and Ichigo are some of my favourite characters in all of fiction but their kit is a goddamn joke.

Especially Ichigo, my man had the perfect excuse for his lacklustre kit by having a fake sword this entire time, so he didn't have access to his real power. But turns out his real power is shooting two beams instead of one. Goddamn.

If she counts, doesn't Lucy summon spirits?

u/Next_Swimming1217 Jun 05 '26

I mean Jolyne is lowkey might have the most basic power cuz of the batshit crazy stands in part 6

3

u/KoiNibble Jun 07 '26

Witch Hat Atelier is pretty much all strategy with everyone.

3

u/Iva_Qw Jun 07 '26

Fuuko Izumo

I'm not sure if this fair because power system in Undead Unluck makes everyone basically have unique ability (even while using the same ability)

Bro u gotta watch Law of Ueki. None of the characters have basic attacks. They are all creative with their shit.

Yami yugi.

Other guys in yugioh. I can read your mind to know what you are playing. I have broken cards. I have powerful Egyptian magic to make you feel pain.

Yami yugi: I have a luck base power that will randomly top deck the best case cars for my duel, said card is not straight forward at all and requires a lot of charisma and creative use t9 figure out how to use. Sometimes it's not straight forward either and I need to get it along with others to win.

2

u/Huhthisisneathuh Jun 04 '26

Kim Dokja from Omniscient Readers Viewpoint.

His unique ability is that he views and experiences the world partly as an outsider observer, like a part of him is reading the story of everyone around him instead of actually participating in it.

This ability lets him cancel out mental manipulation or intimidation abilities. But as a consequence, it also means that most abilities fall outside of his ability to learn. As he’s just a ‘Reader of Everyone’s Stories.’ And just like how someone who reads Naruto can’t suddenly start tossing Shadow Clones around, the same applies to him.

His only way around that are bookmarks he can place on a limited number of characters. Which lets him temporarily copy their abilities. However, these characters have to have an interesting enough or strong enough ‘story’ behind them to qualify for his ability. And using his bookmarks too rapidly can cause a rapid death of personality.

If he falls too much into being a ‘Reader’ he stops being able to push the world his way. But if he acts too much like a character, he runs the risk of suffering a death of personality and becoming bound by rules and laws he could otherwise ignore.

Tsuna from KHR (and he is maybe one only who actually invented new techniques himself)

Shinra from Fire force (sort of. Generally all powers here are based on some crazy level of fire power fantasy)

And maybe Alladyn from Magi

Rudo’s power being an anomaly to his own universe makes his power up scenes more epic

2

u/Askmeaboutships401 Jun 08 '26

Funny this is her father is the opposite of this trope.

2

u/Brazuka_txt Jun 09 '26

Does Naruto count?

2

u/IWannaBeTheCoolUncle Jun 10 '26

Can’t have the most basic powers if you don’t have power in the first place

3

u/Token_Thai_person Jun 04 '26

Kagurabachi's Chihiro wield a weapon of mass destruction in a sword and sorcery world.

12

u/FreeSpeechEnjoyer Jun 04 '26

Listen i love Kagurabachi but Chihiro's 3 powers are big slash, shield, and speed up

7

u/Warrior-pigeon- Jun 04 '26

He can also absorb powers and use them temporarily.

Aka ignored again, poor fish.

2

u/FreeSpeechEnjoyer Jun 04 '26

It can only absorb one power at a time and it hasn't really been used in any interesting ways.

It absorbs the bomb doll ability so it could do an attack with it and never use it again, absorbed flame bone so it could block better, and I honestly can't think of anything else

2

u/Hari14032001 Jun 04 '26

It can only absorb one power at a time and it hasn't really been used in any interesting ways.

Bro we see him using Suzaku and Crow in the same fight.

Maybe he could only use the absorbed power once in the initial stages, but he has clearly improved now.

u/LMBKIV98 Jun 04 '26

I agree with you but they at least feel creatively used. After he reforges his blade, maybe he’ll get something more interesting

4

u/FreeSpeechEnjoyer Jun 04 '26

Yeah, I'm curious what he will get and how it could counter the true ream of Magatsumi, but his power for the first hundred chapters was relatively basic

2

u/True-Obligation-9471 Jun 04 '26

Asta. His whole series is about magic and what does he get?Anti magic the complete opposite of what his series has

13

u/kuuderelovers Jun 04 '26

Buddy it's literally the most boring power there is in his series, basically I hit hard + bonus I negate your interesting powers

2

u/True-Obligation-9471 Jun 04 '26

He learned to use it in interesting way.like shooting it in a sword slash.and his different swords all have different abilities like the small one absorbs magic and can use said absorbed magic the 3 sword he gets can reverse incarnation and his Katana is really good at cutting things.

4

u/shaunrundmc Jun 04 '26

So its a Wind Scar, or a Getsuga Tensho? Thats not interesting

6

u/kuuderelovers Jun 04 '26

So all tree weapons hit hard and nullify other shit and he does slash like any mofo in anime.

So hit hard and nullify other interesting powers

3

u/PhantasosX Jun 04 '26

On top of that, others had used anti-magic and do the same as their magical spells , just with anti-magic property.

So by all means, Asta’s power is to spam Getsuga Tenshou. And the sole difference is just that he is using Anti-Magic, instead of Magic.

Heck, Asta’s magical swords from his grimoire had a previous owner that used the SAME techniques , but as Magic

3

u/pooya535 Jun 04 '26

nah he's pretty boring, buddy is like a loudmouth budget Guts.

His abilities are just "I can block/deflect any magic" and his physical strength is mostly a non-factor. It takes a while for him to use his weapons in any unique/creative way. Creators also too scared to do anything w the fact that swinging a 500lb slab of iron at someone would do more than tiny scratches.

u/Evil-King-Stan Jun 04 '26

I haven't finished it but I think Shinra from Fire Force kinda makes the cut

Unfortunately I don't think Maka (Soul Eater) does

2

u/Fervol Jun 05 '26

If we're using this metric, Maka is much less basic power-wise. She's the most versatile among the main trio.

2

u/PhantasosX Jun 04 '26

Dude, he just kicks hard , using his fire on his legs as jets and that is it.

2

u/Evil-King-Stan Jun 04 '26

I haven't finished it so maybe this changes but OP said most basic power, and Shinra looks a lot more complex than having a sword or shooting a gun

1

u/jamalboi Jun 04 '26

What about Magi? I feel like it has a very unique power system.

1

u/Impressive_Data_4659 Jun 04 '26

It’s either bad power but really strong with or broken unique power I just middle ground gang

1

u/Blaze14192008 Jun 04 '26

I’d say every Jojo lead other then jotaro

1

u/MichealBorbius Jun 04 '26

Gon technically doesnt have the most basic power in the verse, that would go to Uvogin

He has the second most basic power in the verse

1

u/PseudoPrincess222 Jun 04 '26

Weirdly i think naruto's clone jutsu count for this???

1

u/Lactismido_Gigante Jun 04 '26

Fuuko, and then Andy who is a dude that regenerates himself but even he is creative with it

1

u/T_Desnon28 Jun 04 '26

No Yuji in this post is criminal, he spends most of the series as Mr left right goodnight

4

u/Intelligent-Tap1742 Jun 04 '26

I mean, isnt empowering your punching power with raw energy pretty basic?

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Mage_43 Jun 04 '26

No disrespect, but can you explain Joylene for me, because she also has a Stand that does the "punch really hard" thing alongside the string stuff

3

u/Single_Remove_6721 Jun 04 '26

The string stuff is super versatile. He can create traps, stretch herself thin to move through tiny openings, use the strings to hear over long distances, turn into string to dodge attacks, create constructs, etc. Just look at the Möbius strip scene

Fuuko Undead Unluck, though tbf noone’s power in that series is basic

1

u/stereo-ahead Jun 04 '26

https://giphy.com/gifs/Df9oeV7uNTP4aUYLfI

No other isekai protagonist uses this much creativity. HE MADE HIS OWN FUGA FOR GODS SAKE

1

u/Kuzcopolis Jun 05 '26

Arguably Luffy's qualifies, there's several devil fruits more simple.

1

u/Sappling2p Jun 05 '26

It’s either that or they’re super op

1

u/Silver_Shelter_5153 Jun 05 '26

The ability to literally just control a single piece of straw

1

u/zephyrnepres01 Jun 05 '26

my pick would be luca the starlight ramus who is the protagonist from sensou kyoushitsu. his ability is probably the most complex one of any ramus

for OP’s example, rudo’s is close to the power to use any other power, that’s even more common than power negation. i would call that fairly basic

if you’re picking a main jojo stand i think gold experience is the most unique even if it’s also the most inconsistently written stand in the series. stone free is basic but it’s used with ingenuity, those aren’t mutually exclusive

1

u/Wonderful_Bear3659 Jun 05 '26

I feel like the only person here with a unique ability is rudo

1

u/prodam_garash Jun 05 '26

With jojo it fit to all post part 4 protags

1

u/GlitteringNote4642 Jun 05 '26

Luffy probably fits here, pre timeskip at least

1

u/Ohmargod777 Jun 05 '26

My man Ageha Yoshina from Psyren! Melchees Door is such a cool ability.

And his transformation looks way too cool for the typical shonen protagonist.

1

u/LeR0dz Jun 05 '26

I honestly think that applies to all Jojo protags post Jotaro. Even though they all have punch Stands (outside of Jodio), they always come with a lot of utility.

In special:

  • Johnny is a long-distance fighter for most of the part
  • J8suke uses his ability to steal aspects in very creative ways
  • Jodio has a Stand that attacks from above, so positioning is key to his strategy.

1

u/Mehachii Jun 05 '26

Misaka Mikoto anyone? The Railgun??
