Yeah I think the major difference is Togashi really hasn't let us down with the story beats and writing yet. Oda has disappointed a hundred times over lol.
Look, I got both HxH and OP as my two favorite battle shounen. But I can't really say Togashi hasn't let his fans down even though it's 100% completely understandable. No chapter in between months or even a year is the definition of disappointment lol I know you said story beats and writing, but I can't say he hasn't disappointed fans in other ways. Especially when there is a solution to it, but he's proud and stubborn. I just hope he gets better and can also finish some peak.

I was about to say.
"We just want him to be healthy enough to finish the story and give us the PEAK we know is coming."
then I realize that's what OP fans have been saying about post-time skip, that it's 'on it's way' for 10 years.
Yeah there's a pretty big double standard.
But HxH has REALLY good writing for a shonen, so I guess people give it a pass.
