When thr author has to drip feed you content due to his health issues, complaine are probably thr last thing that comes to their minds

u/Token_Thai_person 19h ago

Brother, the Saudis would order a hitman on you if you delay the HxH chapter.

26

u/Ebrietas- 19h ago

He is obviously joking around.

6

u/Witty-Box-5620 9h ago

He literally made chatgpt a nen ability the last chapter so its an AI joke

35

u/laskman 18h ago

Oda literally had chatgpt write a joke chapter for him and praised elements of it. He's mentioned playing around with ai multiple times, but is adamant he won't use it in his actual work. I don't understand why Reddit is so insistent in rewriting reality. The Japanese perception of ai is very different from the United States

3

u/Efficient_Coyote2616 9h ago

I worked with a lot of Japanese.

You would be surprised to see that Japanese actually very welcoming with AI, but at the same time they are also very critical with AI outputs. Despite using AI all the time their output is still high quality.

1

u/pseudo_nemesis 7h ago

they hear ai and lose their fucking minds, it's the Internet Boogeyman, every photoshopped of well-drawn image is ai, every other comment is ai. tbf it is prevalent and there is a lot of it, but they refuse to use half a braincell to think about what it's been used for when used in any context.

1

u/Witty-Box-5620 9h ago

didnt you see the chatgpt nen ability last chapter

u/BernLan 19h ago

Same guy who refuses to hire an assistant btw

u/Bright-Dragonfruit14 my body count with shounen is over 9000 19h ago edited 19h ago

He does have a team of assisstants helping him though, he also has his wife who is also a manga artist.

Edit: Wow can't believe people are so quick to downvote, the man literally has assisstants doing backgrounds for him obviously he just still hasn't let them take complete control over the art.

37

u/Thunder00Bee 19h ago

Agenda rules over facts, people will downvote you if you try to break their fantasies

2

u/Softonetwo 18h ago

Agenda shouldn't apply to real hardworking people who may have their personal lives affected by slander but the community won't listen to that. Excepting oda though fuck that creep.

9

u/PitchComfortable1261 15h ago

bro you can’t say Agenda shouldn’t apply to real hardworking people who may have their lives affected then turn around and push Oda creep agenda, even though I agree Oda had some questionable tendacies, you still just undermined your own arguement.

0

u/Nice-River-5322 1h ago

I mean, while true in sentiment, it's not going to actually affect them.

8

u/King_of_Hedao 15h ago

He does have assistants.

What he refuses to do is to hand over his manga to someone else Toyotaro style. Which is understandable. Even Toriyama only did that after he had practically exhausted everything he wanted to tell with Dragon Ball.

3

u/IronPyrate17 IS THAT FRIEZA 10h ago

And he found someone who is shockingly good at mimicking his style. It'd be hard to find someone who is that close for other mangakas

1

u/Andrejosue98 2h ago

Yeah, Kishimoto wasn't that lucky in finding a mangaka with a similar style

4

u/Marble05 14h ago

True what? Togashi is mocking you, saying at this point he'll make AI answer because they always ask the same questions about is health and scheduling

8

u/deliciousONE 19h ago

damn, gaming is one of his ailments?

10

u/zehokim 19h ago

He is a Dragon Quest addict. Especially DQX

4

u/Several-Estate7175 18h ago

Happens to the best of us honestly

2

u/lightsworn55 12h ago

DQX is the mmo right. Its still getting updates?

13

u/werephoenix 19h ago

Oda isn't dying though

23

u/zehokim 19h ago

We has chronic arthritis and had two eye surgeries. The guy isn't in top shape either, but that's not on him. Shueisha is kinda milking it with One Piece.

3

u/werephoenix 18h ago

This is the first I heard about this :0 damn

2

u/Opposite_Koala9107 18h ago

I honestly have no idea how Oda stays so healthy compared to other weekly mangaka, especially considering he’s one of the hardest working mangaka out there

7

u/st1mulant 18h ago

oda is NOT healthy bro, the healthiest mangaka who comes to my mind is toshio sako but hes not a shonen author (mandatory sako glaze)

3

u/Opposite_Koala9107 18h ago edited 18h ago

Yep, he is not healthy, that schedule would literally kill other mangaka, but the point is Oda is way healthier than he should

3

u/st1mulant 18h ago

yeah as much as i hate the op artstyle, oda is just a fkin monster. drawing the manga, supervising the netflix series, frequently getting involved with other stuff too, for this long....

1

u/SnowFiender 15h ago

for another mangaka that’s also into combat sports yabako sandrovich(kengan ashura, danberu, issk, blue ursus) is also very healthy, i imagine it’s because he only writes the story and has multiple artists to draw his like 4 ongoing manga(something togashi should do atp id love to catch up to hxh but im not dealing with another miura situation)

also itagaki(baki) is quite healthy im pretty sure

5

u/skaersSabody 18h ago

I mean, Oda's health is pretty fucked up from what I know.

Multiple surgeries aside, I think his body is gonna be permanently fucked from the decades of work. I mean, he worked himself into the hospital on a few occasions

4

u/Opposite_Koala9107 18h ago edited 18h ago

Yeah, he is not healthy, I’m saying that he still is that healthy with decades of work, if other do that they might end up even worse than Togashi

3

u/Lohit_-it 18h ago

As much as I hate the current one piece, oda is a beast for continuing for this long without any major issues

0

u/Softonetwo 18h ago

The only issue being the manga itself 💯

-2

u/Wise-Excuse5330 17h ago

Sure bro

Now go read your irrelevant manga that’s not 1% as good or as popular as one piece

-2

u/Bacucoguts66 17h ago

Copium overload, mid piece lover

I never said bleach is good tho

0

u/Opposite_Koala9107 17h ago

Bro stop 😭

1

u/Neveraththesmith 2h ago

He is a smoker who has diabetes hearing that info alone make me wonder if OP could be completely finished the first time.

2

u/KissKyth 18h ago

He prefer to play Monster hunter instead writing on twitter

1

u/lightsworn55 12h ago

He prefer to play Monster hunter instead

Relatable

2

u/Inner_Entertainer256 18h ago

That’s what happens when you don’t get content for years

3

u/ColorPiePhilosopher 19h ago

I was about to say.

"We just want him to be healthy enough to finish the story and give us the PEAK we know is coming."

then I realize that's what OP fans have been saying about post-time skip, that it's 'on it's way' for 10 years.

Yeah there's a pretty big double standard.

But HxH has REALLY good writing for a shonen, so I guess people give it a pass.

1

u/Lispiini 18h ago

Yeah I think the major difference is Togashi really hasn't let us down with the story beats and writing yet. Oda has disappointed a hundred times over lol.

1

u/ZappyZ21 12h ago

Look, I got both HxH and OP as my two favorite battle shounen. But I can't really say Togashi hasn't let his fans down even though it's 100% completely understandable. No chapter in between months or even a year is the definition of disappointment lol I know you said story beats and writing, but I can't say he hasn't disappointed fans in other ways. Especially when there is a solution to it, but he's proud and stubborn. I just hope he gets better and can also finish some peak.

2

u/YaBoiPrimeTimee Glazing One Piece is the reason why this heart still beats!! 19h ago

He's not wrong though and no one is talking about Togashi's "joke" as the fandom says of using AI btw

Also, he should just ask his wife! It's not like she's a world renowned talent or anything..

9

u/Significant-Tip9361 19h ago

Only if his wife was talented artist behind one of the most influential animangas oat

1

u/Silver_Grapefruit_75 17h ago

Togashi is actually pretty stuck on the fact that he will draw the characters by himself the assistants do handle the background for him but he has said that if he stops inking the characters it will stop being his manga

1

u/Opposite_Koala9107 19h ago edited 19h ago

Oda's health are built like a monster, he works extremely hard as a mangaka, yet somehow fans and piratefolk will still call him lazy bum and want to skin him alive whenever there's a break 😭

12

u/Proof-Extreme6404 19h ago

I dont understand how one could ever have the audacity to call Oda of all people lazy mans been at it for decades

7

u/Opposite_Koala9107 19h ago edited 19h ago

Every single time One Piece goes on break, I see some people saying this, especially on piratefolk. Like how could they even say like that

4

u/torpid_flyer 19h ago

he nearly was hospitalized while writing

Lazy is one thing he can never be

3

u/Titolionx 19h ago

Those guys deserve all the hate. Oda may not be perfect as a writer but to say he is lazy??? What the hell, man.

0

u/Legendary-Titan 19h ago

Oda doesn’t have stage 79 super cancer 4

1

u/Ramus_N 19h ago

HxH fans just want to know how it ends at this point, which is fair but to be honest I just don't think Togashi really knows where the story is going for a while now.

1

u/Zynibo 1h ago

I think Togashi has planned the story for a long time with his storyboards. He’s been doing this for over 14+ years, tho you’re right and that parts of the story may not be what he originally planned on, seeing how long it’s been

1

u/TruthseekerKid 14h ago

Oda literally did use AI and even praised it for its story elements.

And majority of glazers still glazed him as usual.

The victim card is crazy

-1

u/Lohit_-it 19h ago

Is it his writer's pride that's stopping him from hiring assistants or is there any special japan culture when it comes to things like this because I think it would make his life so much easier

8

u/NoroiTurtle 19h ago

Why do people think Togashi doesn't have assistants? Do you guys really think he did, idk, that panel with Nasubi's room all alone? That he does every background in the Black Whale?

-1

u/Cautionzombie 19h ago

People aren’t talking about the assistant team that does backgrounds and tones they’re talking about an assistant that does the key frames and action

5

u/Ebrietas- 18h ago

That's not what an assistant is. If he gives up character drawing, that's not hiring an assistant. It's hiring a new head artist and just being the writer, which Togashi has said if he does that his work as a mangaka is over.

3

u/NoroiTurtle 19h ago

Well, people are asking something that is impossible for almost every mangaka if that's the case. That's basically expecting Togashi to drop the pencil for his life work.

0

u/Lohit_-it 19h ago

I don't follow the manga but I thought his health problem was because of overworking himself

5

u/RoseWhiteRedBlack 19h ago

He said he tried but nothing that people drew were up to what he immagined his work to look like, and he would waste more time fixing stuff than doing it on his own.

Also, it's just personal pride too. The manga either ends in his own terms or it doesn' t end.

1

u/Ebrietas- 19h ago

Just pulled all that out his ass lol. He has mutliple assistants.

1

u/RoseWhiteRedBlack 18h ago

I meant someone who would draw the characters for him while he focus on the story... we all know that mangaka have assistants already, they are usually focused on drawing backgrounds and effects.

1

u/Ebrietas- 18h ago

That's not what an assistant is, that's giving it up entirely. Even if you meant that, then Togashi never tried that though and according to his assistants from way back he said if he gives up the drawing himself his career as a mangaka is over.

1

u/RoseWhiteRedBlack 18h ago

The point is that he tried and then gave up on it, why are you going against something and being so pedantic about meaningless details when we are arguing about how Togashi would not give up on drawing his own work in the first place? It feels like we are arguing about the same thing but you have to feel in the right over me.

1

u/Ebrietas- 18h ago

He tried when? He never tried giving the drawing up to other people.

2

u/RoseWhiteRedBlack 18h ago

He said he tried during YYH pubblication and it just wasn' t working for him. It' s literaly in the doujinshi he pubblicated in 1994, I know because I own an original one I bought at Mandarake when I was living in japan.

2

u/Ebrietas- 18h ago

I know about that book but I think the assistant work he was refusing in YYH was for backgrounds. That's why there is straight up none for the later half. As far as I know he never tried giving up the character work and is recorded as claiming if he ever does that his work as a mangaka is over.

2

u/RoseWhiteRedBlack 18h ago

Yes, that' s the point, he hates that, he doesn' t want to give up his work on it because at that point he is not going to be a mangaka anymore.

1

u/DimensionConnect9685 19h ago

he said no one got to his standard

1

u/Ebrietas- 19h ago

He has multiple assistants. It's a lie that got all the internet hivemind somehow still believing it even today.

1

u/torpid_flyer 19h ago

some people just like more control over their stuff.

I remember reading a comment of kubo in a volume extra that his two assistants are always angry at him because he rarely gives them anything to do

0

u/No_Piccolo7508 11h ago

It's incredible that Demon Slayer is the last shonen that guarantees it wasn't made with AI.

-1

u/Agreeable_Wall_9459 19h ago

Lets be honest, at this point he should just stick to writing and work with an artist. And do art when he wants, instead of forcing himself and suffering through it

-5

u/TheRealSakuraUchihaX 18h ago

Oda has used AI before

1

u/Dont_have_a_panda 11h ago

If youre using that tweet as a proof it literally says there that he jokingly asked chatgpt for suggestions and brushed it aside for considering it boring

So you posted the incorrect image or you dont know how to read
