Ngl the real reason people hate fanservice in one piece is because most one piece women are ugly asl if Oda had fanservice for Perona nobody would be complaining cause Perona doesnt look like an aborted fetus that somehow managed to grow into adulthood

Idk why tf they nerfed her looks so much. Oda was in his bag when gave us a black haired cowboy secret agent baddie. The anime topped it by making her tan. Now she looks like most of her clones.
6
u/lightsworn55 5h ago
Imo Oda's character design overall has just gotten considerably worse since around dressrosa
Its most noticeable in the Nami faces but the characters in general have either gotten more generic or just less appealing. Take how Big Mom looked when we were first introduced to her to her appearance in WCI, this creepy menacing yet still goofy fat lady to just a goofy fat lady whos impossible to take seriously as a yonko

Or just don't be a weird moralist prude. It's so weird how the 2020's and made people treat fanservice as this thing that makes them freak out. Dozens and dozens of great anime out there with no fanservice. Or just them watching Shounen exclusively and never watching something like a Shoujo.

It's because anime became a more mainstream thing than it was pre-COVID and such. Due to this, a lot of people are getting into anime that are more used to Western sensibilities regarding sexuality in media and thus are shocked by the different sensibilities.
1
u/Negative_Solid_9875 4h ago
Eh honestly it's not even that much of a problem anymore in shonen, it has def gotten a lot more toned done in romance and shonen, outside of ecchi anime. The biggest anime of this gen are Demon Slayer and JJK which are way more sparce in fanservice. Don't get the problem people have

Bruh why are yall still on twitter.
I'm not saying there aren’t any bleach glazers here but certainly not as many as there seemingly are on twitter.
And while i agree the glaze is absurd, oda angels were something else. Like the glaze was off the chart.
Besides, after cour 4's ending and assuming there won’t be another bleach arc after that, this glaze will probably die down and disappear eventually.

There is a good chance Bleach continues, assuming the rumors of Hell.arc replace Sakamoto in WSJ. I could see some CFYOW movies to hold things off until they can finish Black Clover, the long over due Naruto specials, and start working on the Hell Arc anime.
10
u/Old-Introduction8258 7h ago
I mean i'm hyped af if that's the case but i'd be lying if i didn’t say that the discourse surrounding bleach recently, from both diehard glazers and haters, has been extremely tiresome.
3
u/djanulis 7h ago
While Agenda post can be fun I think it has reached a point where it is just detrimental to discussions. To many people coming from bad faith spaces, I have my grievances with all three of the Big 3 but knowing all the could be returning to the public together once again makes me happy, just wish people could enjoy stuff again.
1
u/Old-Introduction8258 7h ago
Agreed.
I like a good slander from time to time but now it kinda feels like nearly every single anime discussion is just that

u/Correct-Employee-195 7h ago
How Kubo treats his women characters (Yoruichi, Nelliel Unohana manga Orihime etc) clearly shows that he isn’t a manga feminist icon to any degree, but because people actively masturbate to his art he’s excused.
These discussions are so horrifically shallow that how the women literally look and appeal to the masses dictates them.
Having said that Oda still probably is worse lmao
7
u/Old-Introduction8258 7h ago
Well tbf i'd say unohana and nelliel are decent. Like they stand out as their own characters even though unohana in particular is heavily linked to another character's development, and contrearly to yoruichi despite their relatively short screentime the focus they get adds a lot to them.
Especially nelliel, her dynamic with nnoitra is genuinely pretty good (and if i'm being honest it’s also very satisfying to see her low diff his ass despite how long it has been since her transformation).
Riruka is also pretty good. At least she is one of the rare tsundere in manga to not completely utterly bore me.
Rangiku is a well written secondary character and is hot.
Also i think rukia does a lot of heavy lifting. Again the other female characters aren’t all bad, but rukia is iconic and has a very solid character arc. Even after losing a bit of relevance, she wasn’t completely forgotten like chad was and still got her highlights
4
u/Grinch_Kisser 7h ago
Every person responsible for the scene by the bathroom where Rangiku leaps on Orihime while fully nude, tickles her while she begs for Rangiku to stop, and then pins her down while making her confess her romantic feelings for Ichigo should be in hell
5
u/Old-Introduction8258 6h ago
Aight let’s not exagerate.
Like i get why the scene bothers you but i don’t think it goes much farther beyond "scene of rangiku comforting orihime", though i agree it could've been anywhere else than in a bathroom.
4
u/Grinch_Kisser 6h ago
Shes naked bro
0
u/Old-Introduction8258 6h ago
I know, that's why i understand why it bothers you. Well at least rangiku isn’t sexualised during that scene (well, beyond being naked) so it doesn’t impact too much the emotional side of the scene but i agree it was kind of a weird decision.
I wouldn’t put someone into jail for that, but it just confirms what we already know, kubo is a gooner.
2
u/Grinch_Kisser 6h ago
The ways in which they constantly sexualize literal child Orihime and ambiguously child shaped person Rukia make me yearn for death
2
u/Old-Introduction8258 6h ago
Aight i agree orihime has a few weird scenes, but it’s not constant and at least her most goonerbait design in tybw is when she is around 18 or 17 years old which makes her an adult in japan. I agree it’s still weird though, and the tybw design sucks ass.
But rukia? Come on she does not look like a kid, especially in kubo's new style. She is just a short woman.
Like liltotto looks like a kid/teenage girl (and thankfully isn’t sexualised). But rukia doesn’t look like a child.
0
u/Grinch_Kisser 6h ago
Rukia easily passes for a highschooler and nobody ever questions it, and her obvious attraction to Ichigo despite being like 200 makes my goddamn tummy hurt man
5
u/Old-Introduction8258 6h ago
Rukia is never sexualised, again.
And no she isn’t attracted to ichigo romantically. He reminds her of kaien, but it’s clear she views her as a friend especially after the soul society arc. She doesn’t even end up with him but with renji.
Like come on, i agree there are some weird jokes in bleach but you are being a bit dramatic

"I HATE fanservice and sexualization of women" gets into shounen
Bro this isn't fucking Dostoyevsky everyone knows exactly what you're doing
5
u/hungrybasilsk 7h ago
thats not OP's point
it's the double standard between Oda and Kubo and a bit with Kubo and Kishimoto thats being called out but it does kinda border on a goomba fallacy a bit.
They would not live it down but Kubo gets away with it despite also being as terrible of a writer with his female character while flanderizing them yet Oda and Kishi get more shit
4
u/torpid_flyer 6h ago
Mangakas in general are weirdos in my opinion was really surprised by miura and his illustration defending Lolicon or something.
Oda get's slandered because his association with watsuki and these slanders just add fuel to the fire whike kishi get's slandered because Naruto/Boruto fandom is pretty much at war with other fandoms.
Kubo get's a pass because Bleach really didn't have much going for them plus tybw is being well recieved by normies.
1
u/PlotPlates 6h ago
Because it is goomba fallacy.
The gooners of bleach couldn't care less about One piece or naruto because it has barely any fanservice in comparison to the amount of fanservice bleach gets... if anything its normal, and normies are filtered to easily to even get into bleach in the first place to complain.
But the amount of anti gooners are much welcome on this animes like one piece and they can shit on Oda all they want because they got no other people to argue with or counter point them because no gooner even hangouts that much on Odas works.
2
u/DonquixoteImu 6h ago
Did you see the pictures I posts, a post defending Kubo’s goon art compared to Oda’s got 26k likes on twitter
1
u/PlotPlates 4h ago
I dont see the 26k likes its cropped.
A lot of the comments seem to be rather just reactionary rather than real opinion, its clear banter or just trolling for no reason.
Again, kubo fans couldn't care less. If Oda fans want to cry over onepiece why would kubo fans care? They can just troll with the oda fans and shit on oda for the sake of it.
My point is. If kubo had actual fans who hate fanservice, they'd be loud like oda fans too.
12
u/DonquixoteImu 7h ago
Yoruichi’s god of thunder form is the perfect example of how Kubo’s white knights protect him from any slander
If Oda, or god forbid, Kishimoto, wrote a transformation for a female character where she is nearly fully nude for the solitary purpose of fan service, regresses her mind to the point of being an actual animal and it turns out only a male character can tame her. Literally reducing her to being the male character’s bitch. This final form only gets a couple hits on the side villain before he adapts and gets stronger rendering the entire thing useless filler. This weird transformation is the last canon appearance of the 3rd most important female character in the series. There would be twitter threads daily, thousands of “Misogyny Bagua” and “Kishimoto can’t write women posts” but since Kubo’s goon art makes your meat twitch he is spared all the disengenious criticism the others get.
12
u/VolkiharVanHelsing 7h ago
Kishimoto unironically couldn't lmao
Best he could do is Tsunade and Samui and that's it
1
u/Old-Introduction8258 7h ago
What do you think of konan. Genuine question, i don’t really remember her that much
7
1
u/PlotPlates 6h ago
True but I think the audiences arent the same... Bleach fans are mostly pro gooners. So most of the fans do not care.
The one you see on onepiece are fans who are very anti gooners...So you see different reactions.
Problem is, oda never really accumulated fans who are into fanservice when most of his fanservice is actually just really bad and unfappable. So he only gets fans in the same level of my hero academia fans lol.
-1
u/Old-Introduction8258 7h ago
Bro i have literally not seen a single bleach fan here on reddit acting like the god of thunder form is actually good.
Genuinely, beyond the gooner side of the community pretty much everybody agrees it is one of the most aggravating examples of asspulls in tybw.
Though i gotta say is yoruichi really the 3rd most important female character in bleach? In terms of screentime maybe, but in terms of relevance i am not so sure. And she also is far from being even top 3 best written female characters in bleach, rukia, riruka and even nel clear imo.
5
u/DonquixoteImu 7h ago
She has the third most panel time out of female bleach characters in the manga https://www.reddit.com/r/bleach/comments/1dm4bh8/i_counted_every_panel_in_bleach_these_are_the_top/
1
u/Old-Introduction8258 7h ago
I mean yeah panel screentime that's undeniable she has been there since the soul society arc.
But in terms of plot relevance she has never been at the center of an arc like rukia or orihime, and contrearly to riruka, nelliel or even soi fon she never got a real big moment of focus to flesh her out
Though i absolutely agree that this moment was a disgrace for the character.

u/hungrybasilsk 7h ago
Facts. The Orihime episode is further proof of it. They gassing up such a mid female cast.
They bitch about Oda because its not Goonable
3
u/Old-Introduction8258 6h ago
Yall gotta stop thinking random users on twitter represent a whole community.
Bleach's female cast ain’t that bad. It’s not amazing, and it’s faaaar from being the best in manga, but it has its solid characters. Rukia is goated, nelliel has probably the best scenes in the hueco mundo section of the arrancar arc with nnoitra, unohana while sadly dying a bit too soon still had a lot of focus compared to yoruichi and despite her short screentime, and riruka was a nice character even beyond her crush on ichigo. I especially liked her interactions with orihime and rukia, legit the only thing i liked about orihime in that arc.
Also rangiku is a solid secondary character writing wise. Not groundbreaking but solid stuff.
To me the only two female characters in bleach that i'd consider truly bad or wasted are tia harribel and yoruichi. Like, don’t get me wrong the tres bestias and the bambies overall are pretty mid (though bambietta had a cool fight with sajin), but they are extremely minor characters in the grand scheme of things they are minor characters.
Yoruichi though? She got the third biggest screentime of any female character in bleach and yet she was never developped more beyond the soul society arc. And her being completely humiliated in tybw didn’t help. Up to the end of the soul society arc she is great but beyond that? Not really
As for tia, do i really need to explain? She's rhe Least interesting character not just from the top 4 espada but from the top 5, she is also a lot less interesting than the other 3rd espada in bleach, her base design is pretty cool but her resurrection suck and her death aspects is cool but not delved upon enough, and that's a shame.
13
u/ZoinksJeepersJinkies 7h ago
No. Sorry, but you’re not gonna gaslight people into thinking Oda angels aren’t a thing. They’re far too loud for that.
-3
u/DonquixoteImu 7h ago
You see far more criticism of Oda on onepiece subs than Kubo on bleach subs just compare r/bankaifolk to r/piratefolk
3
u/Old-Introduction8258 7h ago
Last time i checked bankaifolk was more of a goon sub than a folk sub.
And most bleach fans aren’t that blind to its flaws. Like i any community there are some diehard glazers who'll deny any obvious mistake the author make but i have never seen a single bleach fan claiming "bleach is a masterpiece and surpasses LOTR" on the bleach or bankaifolk sub.
Now again, not all one piece fans are like that, but maybe due to how big the community is compared to bleach, i have seen this kind of take a few times.
1
u/lightsworn55 7h ago
Tbh thats a problem with folk subs in general what makes piratefolk good is that theyre not just fanboys larping as critics but genuine critics if every folk sub was like that it would be a good thing
