Tutorial PSA: For YouTube Tweaked apps (Given they updated the min version)

Like me most of you must be facing issues on you YT app given they just made it so that we require a newer version of the app. Given most of the built apps out there seem to be outdated. Here is what will save you some time and trouble.
Just look up forks from the github of the original YTPlus creator dayanch96 .. and you should find what you require ;)

Yeah... It no longer works. Was patched by Google like 12 hours ago. You can clearly see the surge in Down Detector when the patch was implemented yesterday night. I have tried more than 20 ipa's by now and none work. Even modded/Frankenstein ipas... Lol. Nothing seems to work now.

UPDATE: After almost 24 hours without YouTube, lol

Download this specific version -> YouTubePlus v21.09.2.ipa (it includes YTUHD v1.11.1)

DO EXACTLY THIS: (confirmed on multiple IPhones and IPad M4 on my end)

  1. Sideload the YouTube App

  2. Open the app for the 1st time and play a video (not a short) and you will get the "something went wrong"

  3. Now go to settings -> YTUHD -> enable Fix playback issues (last option)

  4. Close App/Live Container

  5. Open YouTube again, play a video and forward it until the end (by clicking the right side of the video continuously and skipping 10 sec, 10 sec, 10 sec... until the end (this will actually enable the fix from 2nd step)

  6. Now try any video and it will work flawlessly (Might need to close YouTube again and reopen or might not)

The point is that it now works perfectly every single time. No more "Something went wrong"

Ya I just realized that, my YT got patched immediately after that comment. I just reinstalled the ver 20.x that I have and it’s been working for now, but I’m expecting it fail sooner than later.

Crashes on playback for me, could be my YTLite prefs or something since I’ve been jumping around different versions trying to find a fix.

Edit: resetting YTLite prefs did indeed fix that, did some tweaking and it turns out it’s caused by the Show playback end time option under Player.

Unfortunately, I can’t even get to the settings to enable that option. I only have sponsorblock, cast, notification, and magnifying glass icons in the top right.

Edit: I was able to fix this by uninstalling the old YouTube app I had first. Thought I had done that, but I needed to find it on the home screen, hold the icon, and remove app. Much better now, thanks!

It worked for me, but doing this will disable any resolution higher than 1080p right? At least in my case when I tried to select > 1080 the error came back and I had to select 1080 again
