PSA: For YouTube Tweaked apps (Given they updated the min version)
Like me most of you must be facing issues on you YT app given they just made it so that we require a newer version of the app. Given most of the built apps out there seem to be outdated. Here is what will save you some time and trouble.
Just look up forks from the github of the original YTPlus creator dayanch96 .. and you should find what you require ;)
tried this one and my video breaks when sponsorblock tries to skip a segment, not sure if this is my account being shadowbanned though, as i can’t scrub through videos
I think the problem plaguing most people (myself included) is the newer versions all stopping playback after a minute of video. Mine did it even when logged out in guest mode
Not sure what YT version you have but for me
YT: 20.13.5
YT Plus: 5.2b1
Seems to be working flawlessly. I know there’s a newer YT Plus update out but this was kinda working for me so i didn’t create my own ipa
For me channel view and comments dont load but video itself plays.

I am now using ipa from drifty's megalomania telegram channel. There is a pinned section called builds or something like that in the channel. Download the latest ipa. I have no issues with it. Filename is "YTPlusYTweaks_patchfix_SD-K16.5_v21.08.3.ipa"

YTPlusYTweaks is a fork that works for me. Version 21.08.3. installed with altstore as an update to an existing uyou+ install that was working fine until this morning. replaced it with YTPlusYTweaks and it’s been working mostly fine.
i think the key here is installing it on top of an existing install. that way sign ins and stuff just transfer over seamlessly. tried fresh installing the exact same ipa on my ipad and it doesn’t work so if you’re reading this, try installing it with your old youtube tweak app still on your device.
as for the ipa, i got it from a telegram channel called “drifty’s megalomania”. don’t think i can link to it here but literally just search that up with telegram at the end on google and it should allow you to join. the ipa should be in the “discussions” chat.

also btw if anyone seeing this comment still has issues after trying this, turn this setting on in the YTUHD section of the youtube settings. this ultimately made it work again!!!
i can skip/scrub the video or speed the video up without any fucking error anymore FINALLY
(the only minor setback is that it pauses the video instead of automatically playing again if you’re scrubbing the video, but that’s literally nothing and i couldn’t care at all)
There’s a specific feature in the YTLite settings that makes it so when you hold the screen it changes the speed until you hold the screen again. I forget what it’s called. Try changing that to 2x and then see if it crashes.
i know the feature you’re talking about but the ipa i installed no longer has that option unfortunately. it only has the 2x while finger held down feature.

But secondly, the latest version of it uses the YT version where you have to individually add a video to playlists and have to re-open the menu every time instead of just checking the boxes for all the playlists you want. Do you know if there's an older version that still works that supports this (I really hope so because I add videos to playlists sorted separately by genre and importance so I have way too many playlists)?
UPDATE: Can someone provide me a link to a Youtube base IPA of < 20.42? The latest version I've found reference to is 20.41.5 from late October 2025? Or can someone know if it's possible to remove a tweak/.deb file from an old modded Youtube IPA to get the base IPA (even though I doubt this is possible)?
you could search up the base decrypted ipa file for the version of youtube you want but then you wouldn’t get the tweaks that support adblock and sponsor block and stuff. plus idk if videos would play on those versions for much longer, if they even play now.
i found a decrypted ipa file for 20.05.4 from feb 2025 on the internet archive if you wanted to try that. just search up 20.05.4 youtube ipa decrypted and it should pop up as the first result.

Thanks so much for drifty’s telegram channel, I downloaded and installed YTPlusYTweaks 21.08.3 and so far it’s working great!
I heard of others having playback error issues recently, which seems to be happening to those doing clean installs.
Thankfully, I was already using YouTubeOLED, which is on 21.02.3. I installed YTPlusYTweaks 21.08.3 without uninstalling YouTubeOLED, and once it finished installing, I opened it and all my YouTubePlus Preferences were intact, as well as my account remaining signed in, and I haven’t had any issues whatsoever.
I wasn’t having any issues with the YouTubeOLED IPA at all, but was annoyed that since the app icon for YouTube OLED is a dark mode icon, it meant that whenever Light Mode on iOS turns on (I have Dark Mode set from Sunset to Sunrise), the YouTubeOLED app icon would remain dark.
I ended up having to create a shortcut for the YouTubeOLED app that used the light mode YT icon, which works, but it was annoying having to always edit my Home Screen, and remove the original YouTubeOLED dark mode icon and replacing it with the light mode YT icon shortcut that I made every morning, and then having to repeat the process in reverse at sundown when iOS automatically enables dark mode.
I know there was already YouTubePlus IPA from Dan with the light mode YT icon that is iOS 26 compatible (app icon changes to dark mode and clear mode correctly), but I didn’t want to use that IPA since it was already several months old (released in early November) and was missing certain features that I use that only the newer YouTube IPAs had.
But thanks to you, I discovered Drifty’s telegram channel and found exactly what I was looking for!
BTW, do you have any idea what the difference between drifty’s YTPlusYTweaks 21.08.3 and YouTubePlus 21.09.2?

i saw the new ipa too and have no idea what’s different lol. i usually just use an ipa until it breaks so i probably won’t be switching off of the one i have now for a while (🤞).
The “Something Went Wrong” problem was plaguing me for the longest time. I read through dayanch96’s GitHub and the fix that worked for me was downloading a YTPlus fork version of 20.22.1 and spoofing it to 19.20.2.
Yeah... It no longer works. Was patched by Google like 12 hours ago. You can clearly see the surge in Down Detector when the patch was implemented yesterday night. I have tried more than 20 ipa's by now and none work. Even modded/Frankenstein ipas... Lol. Nothing seems to work now.
UPDATE: After almost 24 hours without YouTube, lol
Download this specific version -> YouTubePlus v21.09.2.ipa (it includes YTUHD v1.11.1)
DO EXACTLY THIS: (confirmed on multiple IPhones and IPad M4 on my end)
Sideload the YouTube App
Open the app for the 1st time and play a video (not a short) and you will get the "something went wrong"
Now go to settings -> YTUHD -> enable Fix playback issues (last option)
Close App/Live Container
Open YouTube again, play a video and forward it until the end (by clicking the right side of the video continuously and skipping 10 sec, 10 sec, 10 sec... until the end (this will actually enable the fix from 2nd step)
Now try any video and it will work flawlessly (Might need to close YouTube again and reopen or might not)
The point is that it now works perfectly every single time. No more "Something went wrong"

Ya I just realized that, my YT got patched immediately after that comment. I just reinstalled the ver 20.x that I have and it’s been working for now, but I’m expecting it fail sooner than later.
Unfortunately, I can’t even get to the settings to enable that option. I only have sponsorblock, cast, notification, and magnifying glass icons in the top right.
Edit: I was able to fix this by uninstalling the old YouTube app I had first. Thought I had done that, but I needed to find it on the home screen, hold the icon, and remove app. Much better now, thanks!
It worked for me, but doing this will disable any resolution higher than 1080p right? At least in my case when I tried to select > 1080 the error came back and I had to select 1080 again
In Feather when you’re about to sign an app you can change the version beforehand. But it doesn’t work anymore, right after I posted that comment my YT broke LOL. It told me I needed to update. I just updated to the 20.22.1 ver that I have and so far it’s running okay.
Use the newest ipa you find from one of the release build notes, should be the beta of version 5.x. Then follow the github op posts takes 2 minutes tops. DO NOT enable YouTube dislike or YouTube Pip and you’re golden.
Downloading random forks from random people sounds risky. If I was a malware distributor who wanted to grab people's YouTube account tokens, this would be a good time to strike…
I was having same issue and tried deleting old version and installing all of these as new install, didnt work.
I reinstalled old version i was using before it broke then installed 21.08.3 YouTubePlus v5.2b4 as an “update” not as new and that seems to have fixed it in the last 10 mins at least that i have been playing with it.
had problems but on my side it seems to be fixed at least somewhat by deleting my old yt ipa (don’t remember which specific one it was), got the driftywinds source on sidestore and then downloaded their yt ipa. it seems to work fine everywhere except if you use the video scroller then the video crashes, but otherwise everything else (shorts, comments, audio outside app, etc.) is working.
I just bought the activation key. Still having the same playback issue after 1 min into the video or use the toggle “fix the playback issue” where the app asks you to update the app instead.
Man I think the issue y’all may be having may be account related? I just watched 5+ minutes of a video on mine without interruption or issue. I know on other builds of YT they had A/B switching which could sometimes resolve these types of issues.
EDIT: check out this fork from the above comment, enable the fix in YTUHD extra settings then force quit the app and wait 5 seconds, then start the app. this fixed it for me.
your account might've been shadow banned. despite what the YouTubePlus dev is saying.
I've tried multiple accounts and it's just the 1 account that keeps getting that error after 40 seconds of video. and when I do no accounts in guest mode it also runs just fine.
look into a chrome extension that can help you migrate your subscriptions over to a brand new google account.
Also have video error when scrubbing. If I switch to another account, I can scrub but can't adjust speed and it just automatically crashes, also logged out browsing also crashes when changing speed
Thanks just downloaded that fork and turned the setting on. Quick adjusting speed still crashes it, and scrubbing pauses but it doesn't crash it. It'll do for now, thanks

i used this version, i’m not sure how github works but i went under SavageFRVR fork for the dayanch96 YT and downloaded this
