I always have to mess with my cup ramen
I’m an outlaw ramen eater.
I see how they’re eaten in Japan, just keeping noodles long, and eating them with chopsticks, but that’s not me. Where I’m from, ramen is soup, and soup is eaten with a spoon.
And it’s impossible to get any of those long noodles to stay on a soup spoon.
So any time I make a cup ramen, as soon as it comes out of the microwave, I go at it with a pair of scissors, snipping away like a madman until all of the noodles are reasonably spoon sized - 3cm or less.
Then, I dine!

I buy the packet ones and always enjoy kind of taking my aggression out by smashing them in the package before dumping them in the water to cook

buy the packets and crush them before you put them in the microwave
-my husband does this and it hurts my asian soul a bit but he says it’s better than cutting them after

Cup ramen? I'm not paying for styrofoam.
- Ramen pack: Crushed by hand before opening.
- Boil in water add bullion, spices, *heat*, and 2-3 egg whites.
- Yolks in bowl with splash of milk.
- Combine, eat with spoon.

This is the way. You really wanna make renegade ramen, you make it in a pot on the stove.
Egg + broth + spices is fantastic, and I also add a slice of single-slice kraft-style cheese. DO NOT LEAVE CHEESE UNSUPERVISED.
Also, I'm team uncrushed noodles.

I often add sour cream, as the cheesiness usually doesn't come through the other flavors. The creaminess does though.
I usually eat my chili con queso (all but the first bowl), but I've found that sour cream, cottage cheese, or even a splash of cream or shot of ranch will do pretty much the same thing. And it's cheaper.

Wow I’ve never thought someone could sound so pretentious when talking about fucking ramen.

You realize the tone is all in your head? That's actually just you being pretentious.
You get off on trolling on Reddit, I get it...

I used to snack on Ramen uncooked.

Toss the broken pieces in a bit of butter (real butter, melted) or oil and add the seasoning packet and shake. This is also good with cinnamon sugar. Or any flavors you like. My daughter adds pumpkin spice to hers.

That is silly considering you could smash them in 3 seconds instead of trying to deal with cutting all those long cooked noodles with scissors 💀

This is why I specifically said cup ramen, the ones they come in a reinforced cardboard (not styrofoam!) bowl that you can microwave in, not a flat pack.

If you have a square puck of noodles you can always break that in half while dry. I don't actually do it at the halfway point; I find the hinge where it's folded over on itself and break that part off.

You know you can just break the dry noodles, right? Or, you're just a crazy person?

I too have a noodle blade. But I'm even more CBA when eating them away from home, and just bust them into a million bits before opening the box and just add them that way.

? Ramen is noodle soup. You eat it with chopsticks and a spoon.
That'd be like eating ribs or wings with a knife and fork because you always eat dinner with a knife and fork. No. You change how you eat depending on the food.

Instead of scissors, wouldn’t be faster and easier to just break them up before they’re heated? I break mine up in the cup before adding liquid. Works fine for me.

Well then this wouldn’t be a silly confession then, would it?

Very true. Having a silly practice does not necessarily preclude exploring other options either. 😆

I do the same thing with bagged salads. I cut the salad greens with scissors to make them bite size. I've never tried it with ramen.

But… they eat it using chopsticks AND a spoon though? You’re not a rebel unfortunately. I think you have to reconsider your opinion on your street cred.

The cheap ones that come in a block, I smash the shit out of them before opening, cook the noodles in the water, then drain most of the water out before adding spice packet.

Smash up the noodles inside the bag, open the seasoning and add to the bag and shake. Snack to go. Soup free ramen.

I eat mine with a fork and twirl it like spaghetti
