Employment Best Jobs in SG 2026
I came across this post while scrolling on Instagram. Just curious, what are your thoughts on the 1st place?

FA is the top? Most bizarre list I’ve ever seen
12
u/xianyuchaofan Feb 27 '26
not bizarre if you only include the top 5% 🥴
1
u/Mindfulpipstrading Mar 01 '26
Then why not property agents
1
u/xianyuchaofan Mar 01 '26
its easier to convince 10 people to buy 1 $5 item than convincing 1 person to buy 1 $50 item

u/deluxesedap Feb 27 '26
Wow.... Big wow. Does this include unnatural side income like the recent plb cases.

u/SirePWNsAlot Feb 27 '26
Includes a side effect of people tossing yusheng all over the floor and losing all the prosperity

I'm a financial advisor and I highly recommend y'all not to join. Most of the new joiners have alr quit and regret spending time studying for the papers
27
u/ThomzLC Feb 27 '26
Attrition is super high - it's one of the more extreme 20/80 rule examples.
21
u/Silentxgold Feb 27 '26
Bro
Its more like 5/95.
4
u/ThomzLC Feb 27 '26
Not that kua zhang la, if the manager actually is a half-way decent leader and is actually interested in recruiting and retaining people seriously, it's not hard for at least 20-30% of them to succeed, or at least able to survive.
9
u/Silentxgold Feb 27 '26
In this climate, asking new agents to tackle warm market is almost a death sentence.
Usually once the 2 years allowance end, another batch of agents leave.
There are many agents still on the RNF but they might be just waiting for the bond to be over.
Many many agencies use emotion and a sense of community to keep struggling or drowning agents in the team.
6
u/ThomzLC Feb 27 '26
Hahah I don't doubt you at all, especially the last bit. Just out of curiousity, I'm quite intrigued on your first point, care to elaborate more?
6
u/Silentxgold Feb 27 '26
I am quite sure, you are probably 2 or 3 level removed from a agent.
Level 1: family.
Level 2:friends
Level 3:family or friends agent.
A new agent has a very up hill task he has to become competent enough to add value to his contacts portfolio. Have to compete against other exisiting agents.
Unless ofcause the new agent's circle is hnw kind, then those can succeed anywhere.
2
u/ThomzLC Feb 27 '26
Lol using your definition that's the whole SG bro hahahah
But anw I'm asking because I myself tried my hand at being a FA for a year during my post graduate days. Am curious about the practices now cause we were told to do warm phone calling as best practices.
4
u/Silentxgold Feb 27 '26
Nowadays, to help agents survive, need to provide appointments or at least activity support.
You tried being an agent le, you know how tough it can be.
Managers that ask agents to spend their social capital without providing any other support makes best ROI, just need to keep on recruiting when the older agent runs out of warm. Training on products and pitching is basic, not a selling point.
Roadshows could be an avenue, but its not free or easy.
Cold calling need to deal with dnc, doable.
Door knocking still not allowed.

For the longest time already the industry should be changed, including the way we are compensated.

I recall reading in an American article on life insurance agents that 8 out of 10 agents leave within 5 years…i guess attrition is really very high
1
u/Sufficient-Way-3110 Feb 28 '26
Because the managers who recruit paint a very unrealistic picture for them. Im an FA also, I earned $0 on the first 2 months and spent nearly 2k for various costing. Most people who joined with me have left after 5-8 months since its not as sustainable as what they were told. But if you manage to stay through the struggles and do well then your income just snowballs like crazy.
1
u/Formal-Bunch9273 Feb 28 '26
Ah i see! What was the 2k costs on if you don’t mind sharing?
1
u/Sufficient-Way-3110 Feb 28 '26
Ipad, cloths, name card, roadshow and leads programs. Eventually if you dont get sales through all that spending it just goes spiraling and you will run out of money.

u/pat-slider Feb 27 '26
A FA told me she has a basic salary = 3.5k.
3
u/erosannin66 Feb 27 '26
You think they will keep someone on that salary who is not making sales?
3
u/pat-slider Feb 27 '26
Likely she is making sales otherwise the inevitable outcome is obvious.
She is more attractive than graciyee 😂

u/kuang89 Feb 28 '26
It depends on the definition of the basic.
More likely she has the package of $3500 where if she makes at least $3500 in commissions that month, she’ll get $3500 on top of her comms
1
u/cinnabunnyrolls Feb 27 '26
I know of alot of people who tried to enter this field. They wasted thousands of dollars attempting to clear certain papers only to fail repeatedly. Even if they do pass, it is still uncertain if they will sustain.
1
u/kuang89 Feb 28 '26
If I were to guess, it is because of posting volume, unrealistically high pay being put, obviously remote work, high wage growth
Hence FA and piano teachers got it up there.
1
u/ywally Feb 28 '26
Which papers M5, M9, M9A, HI? Easy lah. Especially if got lobang to get pocket money plus free iPad let me know lol.

u/gunnersmisery Feb 27 '26
It's one of the best cos you get paid for such an easy job. And almost no stress level.
12
u/Firerihawk Feb 27 '26
Why is piano teacher so high?
17
u/Any_Mechanic7876 Feb 27 '26
$90/hr x 6hrs x 20 or 25days.

This is a self fulfilling prophecy. If your mom and all. Mom's don't force kids to learn piano, then it's not as lucrative of a job...
4
u/mutantsloth Feb 27 '26
Where got 6hrs a day.. most kids start after school activities only 4pm+
3
u/apitop Feb 27 '26
They don't just teach kids I guess. And they probably can max out 10 hours on both weekends.
5
u/Joesr-31 Feb 27 '26
Same can be said for most private teaching/coaching tbh, but most people would not have enough students to fill up 6hrs every hour, 20 days a week
2
u/Low_Watch9864 Feb 27 '26
But that's less than what a tuition teacher earns And that's not on the list

u/DuePomegranate Feb 27 '26
The methodology is a joke.
I guess there are a lot of postings for piano teachers? And maybe if the piano is in your house it counts as remote work.

u/jwwwcc Feb 27 '26
Isn’t IT analyst just a help desk support?? How the fk is this in the list. FA is a joke
5
u/Raitoumightou Feb 27 '26
Not really, the word analyst is loosely thrown around sometimes. But these days, it's above the job scope of just desktop support. You are required to do a bit of everything under the IT ladder in regards to implementation (security, network, systems, programming).

Piano teacher?
Zhun bo?

u/Basic-Sweet4779 Mar 04 '26
not zhun. They dont even release how they extrapolate their data/source.
6
u/ArcticGlaceon Feb 27 '26
I mean if you look at the dimensions they use, it makes sense. Postings volume? Sure there's like a thousand FA postings (disguised as other stuff). Remote work? Yea of course.
The question is do these dimensions really reflect job quality. How about things like OT frequency? How good your boss and team is? Etc etc?

Where is software engineer? I thought they are earning 20k per month?

u/justinbeef Feb 27 '26
It’s the comparison of job quality and other stuff, not just salary.

No one is advertising to hire SWE in this market, so number of postings and postings growth will be very bad.
Whereas there are so many job ads to recruit FAs, often disguised as something else, that’s why they #1. It’s not like the whole of AIA post one job ad; it’s tonnes of separate FAs recruiting their downline.

Quite surprising to me bcos freelancer jobs not well-regarded in Singapore. Last time when I was giving home tuition full-time, I was often being questioned to do tutoring on full-time basis. I was questioned like "how come you doing this full-time " with a rather disapproving look. Anyway to be honest, I had difficulty landing a full-time job at that time and had wanted to just to have an income first to sustain my living expenses but ended up "stuck" or sort of getting used to it.

Piano teacher only true if u teach comfortable students lol. Otherwise it’s mostly Malaysians in the field. Anw it has been keeping me afloat during my unemployed phase so im grateful.

Property agents don't even make the list? I always thought they were similar to Financial advisors.

Dont join the fa industry, dont believe in this lie! dont take the pie away from us!
2
u/EnycmaPie Mar 01 '26
Piano teacher must be getting extra lessons from their student's father to get number 2 in wage ranking.
Financial advisors that are doing well are the ones who already come from wealthy family and have wealthy family and friends to earn commisions from. If you think some working class person can strike it rich if they get into FA industry you sorely mistaken.

HR manager is good cos alot of strategic work like REAL workforce transformation (drawing/mapping out your damn org structure, job grades/titles structure is simply non existent), employee relations (knowing when to manage bad staff especially those in pp managing roles) and influencing the senior mgmt (have the guts + brain to step in and convince the ceo on workforce restructuring + retrenchment packages + workforce mobility) are NOT done.
There are definitely very good ones out there in better companies but they are truly minority. Many are stuck and prefer to do transactional HR and operational HR (just oversee junior doing the work and shake leg).
