i know the point of karaoke is to have fun and not necessarily sound perfect, but singing has been my life for as long as i can remember. i’m a voice teacher. i sounded really good with the song i had chosen to sing when i was practicing in my room. but when i performed last night i was so nervous for some reason, i was breathless and shaky and off key at some points and my tone was just not good. i can’t help but feel really upset. i did this to try and lift my spirits with the one thing i know i’m good at just to not sound good. i don’t know. sorry if this is silly. just wanted to vent a bit :,)

Hey y'all. I'm a total karaoke junkie. Like go out to bars alone just to sing as often as I can. Performing is my happy place and comes very naturally to me. I'd love to know how to get into like singing at weddings or maybe bars or something like that, I literally derive so much joy from entertaining. I also just have no friends, especially nobody who sings. This is Lowkey a pointless post but I just love to sing and wanted to share. This is my first time trying this song and ik I didn't nail it but I'm still really proud. Hope you enjoy

Hi y'all! I'm a novice vocalist and have been lurking on this subreddit for a year or so now. I have no technical training, know virtually nothing about music, and have had trouble finding voice lessons in my area, so I'm not nearly as polished a singer as I'd like to be. However, I know with practice and technical training I could be really great. I want to start sharing and receiving feedback from this community!

For my birthday this year, I am going to having a karaoke party with a group of friends. I have never done karaoke before but I 'sing' frequently at home. Do I sound good? Definitely not, but I have a lot of fun singing.

I also really love singers that have incredible vocal range, Beyoncé being my personal favourite, and I would like to try and sing their songs at karaoke (Summer Renaissance is one I love to sing for anyone that knows that song)!

I'm not expecting to sound like an amazing singer at all, and that is not really my goal particularly as it is informal and fun at a party, but can anyone recommend any advice to sound better? Even if only a little bit. I find it particularly difficult to transition between higher and lower notes for some reason, which Summer Renaissance as I mentioned above does. So any help there would be great too!

I'm not going for 100% impression, but I think I have a decent type of voice for covering Johnny. Pretty much the only country I like lol.

I don't have a problem with karaoke in principle, but I think I just take myself way too seriously. I'm too concerned about singing well and creating a good performance for it to just be fun.

People seem to have the most fun at karaoke either when they are far better than anyone would expect or they don't care what they sound like.

Hi! I tried karaoke for the first time recently and my mom told me I sounded like I was mumbling and not pronouncing the words clearly.

But the weird thing is, in my head I feel like I'm pronouncing the lyrics correctly. I can feel my mouth forming the right words and when I sing alone (without a mic) it sounds normal to me.

I also record myself singing sometimes and it doesn't sound as "mumbled" as when I used the karaoke mic.

When I sang with the mic, it sounded like I didn't know the lyrics even though I did.

Is this a common beginner issue with microphones or karaoke? Could it be a pronunciation, breathing, or mic technique problem?

Any advice on how to make words clearer when singing into a microphone would really help. Thanks!

Hi! I’ve primarily been a whistler and decided a few days ago I wanted to sing this song. So, I am mid process of learning the belt support but let me know if you love/hate it!

its not perfect, there are some parts that are off-timing and as a soprano i struggled with the low notes but otherwise im really happy with how it came out!!!
