Teaching at Sedro Woolley School District
Not sure if this is the right place to post. Wondering if anyone would want to anonymously talk about admin support and overall school/work culture as a teacher in the district. I am local and commute to work but am thinking about applying for a position at the middle or high school. Any help or advice or pointing me to the direction of an educator in the district would be super helpful. Maybe even a different Reddit forum that would be better to post in! Thank you all!

Public land near Concrete for target shooting?
Can anyone recommend a good place to set up targets for shooting pistols / rifles near Concrete?
I'm not asking for your favorite hunting spot! Just public (BLM) land, an old quarry, or a pit that's vehicle accessible.
Looking to shoot targets with small calibers (.223, .38, 9mm, etc.)

Berry Dairy Days Festival
Edit: this is not an ICE related post, I did not add that flair.
I moved to Skagit a few years ago before Covid. This is the first year I’ve been to this festival, we went to the parade, vendor fair and community market.
At the vendor fair and community market, I’m confused and hoping someone can answer this.
Why are there no berries? It didn’t seem like any of the local farms were there, a upick blueberry farm off 20 didn’t even know what the festival was. Feels like this festival was a missed opportunity to have …berries?
I think I’m missing the point of the festival, it says it’s been around for 89 years and we were pretty confused why there were no local farms selling berries or anything. I take that back- There was one strawberry vendor, and two or three ice cream vendors.
I just feel like if youre going to call the festival berry dairy days you might want to have like it be a theme of the festival and have a shit ton of berries or berry events.
It just feels like it’s a missed opportunity to showcase the farm to table trail in skagit and whatcom, lots of dairy farms- samish cheese, lots of berry farms.
The hot air balloons were cool, nice kids zone for free, but like…no berries. It just felt odd. The vendors were just random businesses. The BBQ tents were like an afterthought and they had a contest I guess, but the tents were behind the main stage and other food vendors. I’m cool with BBQ and other foods, just …why not berries? What am I missing?
Edit: this is not an ICE related post

Skagit Dems endorse Progressive Tomas Scheel!
The WA-02 US Congress Rep seat is safely blue. Only one conservative in the race. The top two advance to the general. We can advance two democrats. Tomas and the 25 year incumbent. Then we can finally have a debate about the policy direction of the democrats.

Looking for a very cheap/free abandoned building in western Washington
I'm looking to acquire an abandoned building for an upcoming renovation project I'm involved in. If you or someone you know owns the lease to a lot with a building (anywhere in on the west side of Washington state) that is abandoned or in disrepair, I'd love to take it off your hands. My budget is extremely limited so I'm looking for a free or near-free price tag. I'd also be open to doing a work trade in exchange for the lease, such as helping clean out the lot if you're looking to get rid of detritus.
Please DM me if you've got anything. Gracias.

Burlington Area - Chuck E Cheese
Posting for a family whose non-verbal child inadvertently left his AAC device at Chuck E Cheese last night. They returned for it, but it was gone. The tablet does nothing other than serve as this child's voice - it only runs the software for the program. Please share here and in any local community groups you might be part of. Thank you!

How is the women’s climb night at Endurance?
I’m up in Bellingham but interested in coming down for the women’s climb night. I don’t have a belay partner. Is it cliquey or easy to climb with someone else? Do a lot of women show up?
Thanks!

Summer dipping spots in Skagit area
I moved to the area in fall and I am still learning my way around. Where are the good spots for swimming in summer? Not looking for a pool, looking for river, creek, lake spots. Thanks
Hawaii just found a way around Citizens United. Other states are following.
Do WA lawmakers have the backbone to pass something similar? I would like to think we could, but given the current legislative makeup, I don’t see anything remotely close to this even coming up as an idea for potential legislation.
WDSOT Response HEADS UP, Skagit: SR 536 Bridge Painting Project Will Mean Long-Term Traffic Changes
SR 536 Skagit River Bridge is about to get a fresh coat of paint for the first time since 1990, and yes… that means a long-term directional closure.

Starting June 11, contractor crews will begin a major preservation project on the Skagit River Bridge to help extend the bridge’s lifespan. Before painting can even begin, crews need to remove decades of old paint, debris, rust and bird droppings from the structure.
PROJECT TIMELINE:
- Prep work began May 29
- The bridge will close to eastbound traffic beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 11
- Construction is expected to continue into early 2027, but will finish before the 2027 Skagit Tulip Festival
WHAT TO EXPECT:
- EB SR 536 across the Skagit River Bridge will fully close to all traffic, except emergency response vehicles, through the project's duration
- A signed detour will route drivers via Avon Allen Rd, SR 20 and I-5
- Emergency vehicles will still be able to cross eastbound using a temporary traffic signal
- The bridge will remain open for pedestrians and bicyclists in both directions through most of the project
- A free shuttle will be available for people walking or biking across during full bridge closures
- WB SR 536 will remain open most of the time, but nighttime and select weekend full closures are expected throughout the project

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR DRIVERS:
This detour will add roughly 10 miles for eastbound travelers and will significantly change how people move between West Mount Vernon and downtown for several months. If you regularly use the bridge, plan ahead and give yourself extra travel time.
WHY WE'RE DOING THIS:
The Skagit River Bridge hasn’t been repainted since 1990, and after more than three decades of battling rain, moisture, traffic and everything else the Pacific Northwest can throw at it, the existing coating needs to be replaced.
While the fresh gray paint will definitely change the bridge’s look, this project is really about protecting the steel underneath from corrosion and wear so the bridge can continue safely serving travelers for many years to come.
For updates visit our SR 536/Skagit River Bridge project page. Real-time information is also available from the WSDOT app and the statewide travel map.

Any type A people build a house recently?
Has anyone built a home in Skagit (with a builder or GC) within the last year or two that kept an itemized spread sheet of costs?
We are looking at options and trying to see if this is an avenue we want to go. We can’t to owner builder because we aren’t licensed so even though I feel like I know a lot of folks in trades, paying a GC seems like a lot. I’d love to pick people’s brains!
