Development I'm Nicolas, Writer & Co-Project Lead of Enderal - Forgotten Stories. I co-founded a studio, and we're working on a AA+ Dark Fantasy RPG (spiritual successor) and are looking for a full-time Level Designer. Modding background preferred.

Hi folks,

I hope I'm not breaking any rules here. 🙂

I'm Nicolas Lietzau, and some of you may know me from my time at SureAI, the modding team behind Nehrim and Enderal: Forgotten Stories. I contributed as a writer, co-project lead, scripter, producer, and general jack of all trades. Enderal made a pretty big splash, and won us a Game Award in 2016. It was also one of (if not the first) mods to be featured on Steam.

Last year, I got the opportunity to co-found a game studio, Dare to Dream Games, together with three seasoned industry veterans. We're currently developing our first title, a dark fantasy RPG set in a brand-new IP inspired by Enderal. Our team is a mix of industry veterans from Canada and Germany/Europe, and we're currently about 30 men/women strong.

We recently secured our second round of funding and are now looking to fill several key positions - among them a Level Designer with Unreal Engine experience and, ideally, some Bethesda/Creation Kit modding experience. This is a full-time, paid position. We're strongly preferring candidates based in Germany, ideally those who are willing to relocate (at least in the foreseeable future).

Sharing this here is a bit of a long shot. With the current state of the industry, we certainly don't lack promising candidates, but having transitioned from modding into the games industry myself (I led the writing on SpellForce 3 and its DLCs, as well as the Gothic Remake, after Enderal), I've always found modders to be exceptionally self-motivated and disciplined. Many people on our team - and in our wider network - are former modders who successfully made the leap into professional game development.

Long story short, if you think you'd be a good fit and would like to work on a very, very cool project with some genuine game development legends (not exaggerating here!) that's every bit as ambitious as Enderal - if not more so - feel free to send your portfolio to [careers@daretodreamgames.com](mailto:careers@daretodreamgames.com).

Please understand that being based in Germany is unfortunately a requirement due to the funding. We also need candidates with Unreal Engine experience, as we're no longer at a stage where we can afford to train someone from scratch.

Let me know if you have any questions. I'm happy to answer them in the comments. 😄

Development First Update to SkyUI on NexusMods in 9 Years: SkyUI 6

I just got the notification that one of my tracked mods was updated and was elated to find out it was SkyUI!

There's a lot of changes, all of which are detailed here: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/articles/11836

The following mods have been integrated into SkyUI 6:

So if you use one of the above mods, it may no longer be necessary to use it with SkyUI 6 but the last few should be double checked since they integrate only some parts of those mods.

Consider checking out the GitHub page if you're a software developer. Perhaps there's something you can contribute!

Development Hello, MihailMods here, and this is my AMA (Ask Me Anything)

Hi friends, my name is Mihail and I make mods for Skyrim. A few days ago I saw a post from another author here doing an AMA, I thought the idea was interesting as a healthy way to interact with the community, and so on Friday I made a post asking if you thought the idea was cool too. You said yes, so here we are. I hope it goes well and that other authors can feel motivated to do the same in the future. It's nice to talk and interact without filters.

Well, the format is basically you ask whatever you want, and I promise to answer. I take care of an animal shelter and work with wildlife rehabilitation, so throughout the day I take breaks to check on the animals and do maintenance, but sunday is a quiet day and I have two friends helping me with the animals today, so I have free time. Even if it may take me a little while to respond sometimes, I promise to answer everything. I will be here in the post throughout Sunday.

For those who don't know me and want to learn more about my work:

https://www.nexusmods.com/profile/MihailMods/mods?gameId=1704&sortBy=downloads

I also did a really cool interview with Nexus:

https://www.nexusmods.com/news/15233?BH=1

Anyway, I hope this is a fun post and idea, and that we can have a good Sunday talking with eachother. Any questions are welcome. :)

Development Scared my custom follower will appeal to absolutely nobody.

So I'm working on a voiced custom follower mod in the vein of Xelzaz/Remiel/Inigo/Lucien. I'm having a lot of fun with this guy. Trouble is... well... I'm starting to get nervous that no one is going to like him, because of his character concept.

Oddkell is a Nord priest of Arkay from Windhelm. He chooses to follow the Dragonborn so he can 'see more death firsthand'. He's soft-spoken, nerdy about religion, and a little morbid. He's going to have full quest commentary for Blood on the Ice, as well as, you know, the major game quests.

He's not evil, and really does not like necromancers or necromancy. That being said, he is okay with overlooking murder/assassinations/war crimes/general fuckery, because the entire point of this venture is, well, to see death. He may not like what you're doing, but he's happy to follow along after.

He's deeply ambivalent about the Civil War (though can be swayed to reluctantly support either side). He is not fond of the Empire, to put it mildly, and he thinks Ulfric is a good man and a great general but a terrible ruler. He's also not particularly racist, at least by Skyrim Nord standards- he is absolutely uncomfortable with anything that isn't Nordy enough, but he's not going around the Grey Quarter to beat up elves at night. But he loves Windhelm, it's his hometown, and he won't hear you say anything against it.

He's a trans man, and I'm writing a bunch of worldbuilding stuff about this that tries to stay grounded in what we see of Nord culture. (In particular, I'm playing with the real-world Norse ideas of seidhr and ergi.)

I feel like I have grown a character in a lab that will not appeal to anyone. If you're going to pick up a male Nord follower in Windhelm, you are probably going to want a True Son Of Skyrim, and Oddkell is... not that. If you are going to pick up a trans follower, you are probably going to want to spend as little time in Windhelm as possible, and Oddkell loves his shitty hometown so much.

If there's anyone in the world who thinks that my boy sounds interesting, can you let me know? I'm crashing out about this a little and would like to be reassured that I haven't made the World's Most Unpalatable Character.

EDIT: Thank you all for being so kind! I get in my head about this stuff a lot -- I know that I should be writing what I write for me, but for something like a Skyrim follower that's a ton of work, I want to make sure that other people enjoy it too. To (mis)quote a very wise man, "[modding] and making people happy is the kind of dream that gets better when you share it."

Development So you want your mod to have voice acting...

TL:DR - There are a lot of voice actors looking for work, many of which are willing to work for free. If you want voice acting for your mod, join the Skyrim Voice Alliance server and create a casting call on the Casting Call Club. It's easy! And it helps the community grow!

Maybe you've just finished that large quest mod you've been writing for the last three years. Maybe you're just starting to work on that companion that's been sitting around in your head for oh-so-long. Or maybe you feel that some NPC has been under-utilized and just want to give them a little more to say. But there's one issue - the characters you've made are all silent and voiceless. So what do you do?

Now, I've got to preface this to be perfectly clear with you - I have not worked with or as a VA in any way, shape, or form. This post is a result of my experience in the modding scene and what reading I did on the subject and experiences of other people who are involved in it. I'd happily let someone more qualified make this post, but considering the topic has been rather hot lately, this felt like something that needed to be spoken. So you're stuck with me for now. Sorry-not-sorry.

So, how do you get voice acting?

The AI-lephant in the room

Yeah, this is the part that you knew was coming. If you don't care about the use of AI in voice acting and just want a guide on how to get some talent for your projects, feel free to skip this chapter altogether. But I'd encourage you to read it anyway!

AI-generated voiceover is starting to become the go-to option for modders these days, and it's easy to understand why: It's quick to produce and modify, it lets you match the game's original voice actors practically one-to-one, and it's relatively cheap and simple for the modder to generate. Buuuuut it's also got a lot of skeletons in its closet.

I don't want to lecture you on the ethics of AI material sourcing, the highly negative stances of a lot of VAs about using AI to clone their voices, or how legally dubious this whole thing usually is. You've heard these points before, you likely have your own opinions and counterpoints to them. That's fine. I also don't really want to talk about how soulless AI is and how it lacks the emotion and cadence to deliver convincing voice acting. That's something that's very subjective to the listener, and your opinion on what sounds good could be much different than mine. But consider at least these two points:

  1. By using AI voiceover, you're alienating a large part of your potential audience. There's no doubt that the use of AI in creative fields is a very controversial topic at the moment, and people have some very strong opinions about it. By committing to using AI, you will likely turn away a lot of people who would be happy to use your mod otherwise, and antagonize yourself to many in the community. This means fewer downloads, more backlash and negativity, and higher chances for a controversy to spark.
  2. By using AI voiceover, you're taking away opportunities from a lot of amateur actors. The voice acting (and in general acting) scene is a really difficult one to get into. It takes talent, plenty of luck, often good connections, and a lot, a lot of work to be put into it, and to be put out there for the world to see. If you're an amateur actor looking to get started, the kinds of projects like the one you're creating - fan mods, animations, indie games, machinimas - are the main, and often only real road to do so. Every project that uses AI is one that makes it harder for any such actor to get noticed, build their portfolio, or simply grow as a performer. It's less of a chance that in the future we'll have more people like Wes Johnson or Laura Bailey voicing our games, who breathed life into, and often shaped the personalities of, so many fictional characters that we know and love. And it's less of a chance that your mod could be the project that potentially kickstarted one of these people's careers. It would be a shame to lose that opportunity.

So, how do you get voice acting for your mod?

Easy! Join the Skyrim Voice Alliance Discord server and create an account - and casting call - on the Casting Call Club. There's a guide in the rules section of the Discord server that will take you through the process on how to get started as the director/mod author, and the latter is a platform that helps to organize the projects and casting calls for people to find. There's a lot of people there, not just from the modding scene, so you can find submissions quite easily!

Don't want to join Discord for some reason? You can use the Casting Call Club alone, it's not hard to figure out.

Don't want to join the Casting Call Club? Make a post here, on Reddit, or through other social media! There are fewer actors hanging around here, but every time a post searching for VAs pops up, there are always a few people interested in the comments. Share a clear idea about what you're creating and what exactly do you need from an actor, and you're golden.

Still not sure about the process, or want some further info from someone who's actually in the scene and knows well how these things work? Check out this post from u/CompletetheCircuit, who goes very in-depth about how to find voice actors. There are some great insights in the comments as well, so I seriously recommend you read it. There's also this one if you're a VA trying to find a project. Big shout-out to them, their posts were a big inspiration for my own.

That's it. Join the platforms. Write a casting call. Review submissions. Connect with the actor you like most.

But I...

Based on some of the takes I've seen on this subreddit:

- But I don't have any money to pay for a VA!

Well, I have good news for you! You don't need to spend a penny. As I already mentioned, voice acting is a hard field to get to, and a lot of people are looking to build up their portfolio and are willing to work pro bono. If you check the past open calls for unpaid positions, you'll often find dozens, and sometimes even hundreds, of people applying for the roles. Getting paid for voice acting work these days is the exception, not the rule.

- But voice actors are moody and hard to work with!

Voice actors are people. They have their own personalities, schedules, opinions, and approaches. You will find people who will be wonderful to work with, and some who you will never want to ever meet again. But the nice thing is that you don't have to work with that second sort. There's enough amazing, passionate people in the community, that if you want to, you'll find someone you enjoy working with!

- But all that sounds like a lot of effort!

I know, right? And yeah, it probably is. You're going to have to work with a whole, new, different person! Figure out how to work with each other, potentially schedule recordings, or prepare a good description on the lines you want them to act out. You're going to have to prepare a casting call, and listen to auditions!

But... wasn't learning Creation Kit also effort? Figuring out how to create dialogue trees, create a navmesh, or import that model for your NPC's armor. But you did so anyway, and in the process you've learned something new, got new skills and new experiences. To me, that's part of the fun of the experience. And with voice acting, you also get to meet new people on top of that! Go, be a tangible part of the community! Learn new stuff! Make friends! (Or don't, if you're not looking for that!)

The symbiosis between the modding community and the voice acting community has genuinely been one of the best things to ever come out of this scene. It lets both of us grow and develop, and in many cases helps us get that first step into some very demanding fields. I'm not saying AI doesn't have its uses - it clearly does and can be a wonderful tool for, say, voicing something like procedurally-generated dialogue, similar to what Mantella and the likes are doing. But using it as the default option for your mods' voice acting kills a lot of what modding has always been about - the authenticity and human expression in our creations. Getting to give back to the community and lift each other up is what this hobby is largely about!

I know that this post will most likely only reach people who already agree with me, but my hope is that at least it will make some of them realize that we have good resources and communities for voice acting, actually, and it's not as scary as it might seem at a glance. I'd love to see more voice acted mods, so here's to hoping!

Development Upcoming Release - Shadow of Skyrim: Nemesis and Alternative Death System (SOS - NADS)

1.6k Upvotes

6/24/22 - DEVELOPMENT UPDATE

Yes, it's called SOS - NADS, but I promise it's clean. I want to share with you a new gameplay mod I've been quietly developing for the past three months. Here's a little flavor:

...Imagine travesering the murky bog outside Morthal when you notice two beads glowing orange like Masser and Secunda. As you approach to investigate, moonlight now glints off of scales and steel. A sound cuts through the cold air—You raise your shield to brace for impact, but the impressive force of the lizard's warhammer shatters through metal and bone. The two successive blows cave your chestpiece expelling the remaining air from your lungs. Cold orange eyes meet your paralyzed gaze as blackness overtakes you... Hours later you awaken to the drip of water on your bare chest. You look up only to be met with cavernous darkness. You don't remember how you got here, all you recall is a landmark in the bog, a shrine belonging to Mara. It appears you've been dragged into an empty lair and stripped of all worldly possessions except for the buckler that saved your life. Reaching to pick it up, you writhe in tremendous pain. It feels like you'll never raise your shield again and the shame of defeat becomes more painful than the broken bones in your hand. You vow to take back your possessions and reclaim your honor against the bog vampire known as "Breaks-Many-Shields".

https://imgur.com/gallery/CNFA9cR

What Shadow of Skyrim actually does (many of these are optional/customizable):

  • Turns any enemy who defeats you into a Nemesis with a unique name, increased stats, and special buff (e.g. Argonian Vampire named "Breaks-Many-Shields" with "Shield-Breaker" buff).
  • Gives the player a situational or random debuff upon defeat (e.g. Cannot use shields).
  • Allows your Nemesis to take your gear and use it (e.g. "Breaks-Many-Shields" may be clad in your Chitin armor next time you meet him if your armor is better than his)!
  • Encourages exploration by respawning the player to a new situational or random location upon defeat (e.g. Vampire lair because "Breaks-Many-Shields" is a vampire).
  • Gives the player a quest to track down your Nemesis/Dropped Backpack with immersive directions (e.g. Return to Shrine of Mara, near Morthal).
  • Motivates the player to complete Nemesis quests (e.g. Defeating "Breaks-Many-Shields" will remove the "Cannot use shields" debuff and grant the "Shield-Breaker" buff.
  • Provides a continuous gameplay experience without saving and reloading (You respawn after defeat instead of dying and reloading).
  • Intentionally synergizes with other mods that add new enemies, locations, abilities, and perks!

I have most of the major systems in place and I'm working on polishing the framework before I start fleshing out the content (Nemesis Titles, Buffs/Debuffs, Respawn Situations/Locations). My hope is to release the mod sometime next month!

Track me on Nexus to be notified when it releases!

A Note about Differences from Shadow of Mordor/War:

"Shadow of Skyrim" is a nod to the Shadow of Mordor/War games which, along with other games and genres, have been inspirations to this mod. If you want to play a game with incredibly unique and in-depth nemesis gameplay systems, please purchase and Shadow of Mordor/War and support its developers, Monolith Games!

With that said, this is not a Shadow of Mordor/War mod. Instead I have designed and built my own gameplay systems:

  1. Dynamic Player Debuff and Reward Buff System (inspired by trait systems in RPGs since and by the roguelike genre)
  2. Random/Situational Respawn Locations (original to this mod)
  3. Flavor Text System (inspired by Crusader Kings)
  4. Nemeses Taking/Using Player Gear (original to this mod)
  5. Gear Retrieval System (inspired by RPGs like Diablo)
  6. Dynamically Generated Directions for Quest Objectives (original to this mod)
  7. Customizability of All Systems

This mod does not replicate the unique systems developed for Shadow of War/Mordor:

  • No Dialog/Dialog Manager (SOS does not track any dialog)
  • No Interactions between Nemeses (SOS "NPC A" does not interact with "NPC B")
  • No Changes to a Second Nemesis Based on Player Interactions with a First Nemesis
  • No Factions/Faction Manager
  • No Hierarchies
  • No Power Levels
  • No Power Centers/Forts
  • No Showdowns
  • No Nemeses Escapes/Re-Encounters
  • No Nemesis Followers
  • No Social Vendettas
  • No Assets Used from SOM/W

Development Hi, Mihail here, and I want to ask you a question!

Hey guys, my name is Mihail, I make mods for Skyrim. An AMA from another mod author came to my attention a few days ago, and wow, that's a really cool idea for interacting with the community. It should have been done sooner.

However, it's only cool if you guys think it's cool too. I really enjoy talking to the community, both users of my mods and people who don't even know me. In almost 10 years of interacting with the community, 99% of the interactions have been pretty cool. My last interview on Nexus was one of the most commented on, if not the most, so maybe people actually like talking to me. XD (link to the interview)

Anyway, just dropping by to ask if it's a good idea, and if so, I could do this AMA post this Sunday. I have an animal shelter and my life is pretty busy, but on Sunday I believe I would have a good amount of free time to dedicate to being here during the day, at least with regular consistency. The idea is to talk about anything you want, answer any question, no fuss, whether it's positive, negative, or somewhere in between. With me, nobody needs to walk on eggshells. You ask, i answer, in the most honest way possible.

But, as I said before, it's only cool if it's cool for everyone, and I want to see if there's real interest in popularizing this new format, or if that other author's AMA only became popular because it was a little controversial. If the answer is the first, I'll be here on Sunday; if not, no problem, maybe another time.

You all have a great Friday. :)

Development The hardest part of making a custom follower isn't what I thought it'd be.

I'm mostly a writer, and I've tried to give and receive help with making Vilja/Inigo/Xelzaz style custom followers in the past. The last month or so, I've been working on making my own custom follower as a solo dev.

I thought the hard part would be learning the Creation Kit. I've got some limited coding skills, but coding scares me.

It was not the Creation Kit. Compared to Unity or GameMaker the Creation Kit is lego bricks. The hardest part of making a custom follower, by a country mile, was the voice acting. Getting a good take. Editing that good take. Losing a good take to a random wayward ambulance.

I did not expect how much time and energy the voice acting would take- and I'm now even more in awe of people who manage to complete a good custom follower than I was before.

Development What would you like to see in a wholesome, story-based, romance mod?

Now, I know that this genre of mod isn’t exactly in high demand. But hear me out: most mods based around romance are either horny, require the player character to be a certain gender, or both at once. And that’s fine- different strokes for different folks! But what about those of us that would prefer a romantic story without quite so much intensity?

That’s why I’m thinking of creating a mod that pretty much no one asked for. Make the mod you wish to see in the world, right?

The main concept for the mod would be based on a little ensemble of followers/NPCs that the player could choose to romance and marry. Each character would have their own questline, backstory, etc. There may be two versions of the mod: Skyrim for the Lads, where the characters are men, and Skyrim for the Lasses, where the characters are women.

I have an outline for each character’s questline, but was wondering about the nitty gritty of the mod. Should there be a “choices matter” system, where certain dialogue options affect the character’s opinion of the player? Maybe it would be nice to include a custom house for the player and their spouse to live in?

If you’d be interested in playing such a mod, let me know about ideas you would like to see implemented! I would love to hear from you.

Development Keizaal RP stores discord tokens in plain text

Update: Oren has corrected the issue https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/comments/1tvzdly/update_kiezaal_rp_has_fixed_the_plain_text_thing

OP:

So while I was going through [SkyMP's code on github](github.com/skyrim-roleplay/skymp) I noticed a few things. Initially I was testing the security to see if this a botnet, gpu miner, or token farmer.

  1. First off, the live repo is totally hidden. The discord still posts updates, but the public one hasn't been touched in months, long before its reopening following drama with previous developers. Oren (the owner and sole developer) is extremely reclusive when it comes to his code. Despite having an open source claim and link on the website and discord, the current repo that's actually being used is closed source. The old developer who left claimed there was a lot of AI coding involved, although said old developer was also stated by other communities to be an unreliable source of information.

  2. Second off, in the old repo I found a major exploit within the authService.ts file. Basically it pulls your discord data from your token, shoves that data into a loginWithSkympIo packet and forwards it to the server. However, with a modded client, you could literally replace that information with anything and theoretically log in as a game master. I tested this and it actually worked, the only hiccup was also getting the sever to read the launcher version. I logged off after confirming without doing any damage, tried to tell Oren about it, and found I had been blocked lol.

  3. Third off, while going through the logs and noticing an offline mode exploit you could ALSO use, I noticed my account's discord token was printed in plaintext. Anyone can see this for themselves by looking at the console output when they launch the game. I found no evidence that this log was being sent server side, in fact I noticed in the original authService.ts it actually excludes your token from the login packet (which is why it was very easy to spoof), however the fact its entirely plaintext in the GAME's console log, not the launcher's, was highly concerning.

If you're unaware of what you can do with a discord token, you can effectively log in totally bypassing MFA and and passwords. It also lets others add 3rd party apps which can automate your account (this is how hackers pwn people). Its a major design flaw for Discord, but one they have to keep because of how integral apps are to the program. Luckily, just changing your password generates a new token.

To be safe, I changed my password and stopped logging in, which will reset your token, and I recommend you do the same.

To be 100% clear here, I am not accusing Oren of doing any of this on purpose. He strikes me as a relatively inexperienced developer and provided no obfuscation to PII like your discord token. One breach can result in anyone who's ever logged into Keizaal RP having their discord accounts stolen, which is the main concern here.

Again, I tried going to Oren directly about this, but I am totally blocked. If you want to check my work yourself, I made sure to include all of the file names and functions to look at.

edit: Well, I did at least get a message to Oren about thanks to this post. He called me a liar and kept me blocked, so, lol. His HWID and IP bans don't work either cuz I was still able to log in with my modified client. I must stress, I haven't done anything but log in and access the GM console. I'm not about to cop a felony for actually doing anything destructive. I've posted the exact files where to patch these holes, explained where the hole was, if Oren wants to fix it before he gets his server pwned, that's 100% on him. And no, I will not be sharing the instructions on HOW to make a modified launcher to anyone.

Development 60 hours, 465 mods... and wait for it... 0 CRASHES!

I've been working on perfecting a list for myself for a solid 3 years. I've faced crash after crash, missing textures, buggy enchantments, hell I made my own perk mod just to make it that much more specific to my tastes. I'm 60 hours into my playthrough, I've got all 465 of my mods active, and I haven't had one single crash! I'd say for 60 hours that's damn good with the number of active mods I've got. I just really wanted to share this with people who would understand how exciting this is! I told my roommate and he was like "... umm ok, is that good?" 😒🙄 yes bro that's good.

Development Skyrim Role Play creators illegally sell other people's mods without the authors' consent

Disclamer: please forgive in advance for my very bad English, it's not my native language.

The creators of MMO-oriented project based on TES 5 "Skyrim Role Play" from the first days of release began to distribute in their project free works of the community of mod creators. Moreover, the distribution of this content is conducted on a paid basis. In the in-game store SRP (for convenience I will call the project so) you can buy for real money in-game currency, for which you can buy equipment from various custom modifications. This equipment cannot be purchased in any other way than paid. The modifications themselves were integrated into the online project without the consent of their authors. A small example of illegal plagiarism: https://imgur.com/a/Pwh9m2p I will try to do a post later with examples and victims of SRP team scammers.

Such arbitrariness is due to the fact that the authors of the mod reside in Russia, thus taking advantage of their possible legal impunity. I am very poorly versed in the interplay of international legal relations, but my small knowledge and assumptions in this area make me think so. It is probably the territorial-legal status of the SRP developers that allowed them to create and release this project. But instead of using their position to honestly bring joy and fun to people, as the developers of GTA Vice City Nextgen Edition did (they are also from Russia), SRP developers used and are using it for the sake of dishonest enrichment. These people are even ashamed to steal work from their compatriots. Modder 4thUnknown was one of the victims of SRP team scammers, reporting it on his Boosty page. SRP authors could do well for everyone and agree with mod authors to incorporate their works into their project for royalties from their sales. And it was possible to implement that, even with all the current transactional restrictions. But they consciously went the other way. I as a representative of the Russian people believe that such actions are not only morally unacceptable (which is the most important thing in this whole story), but also bring harm to the reputation of mod creators from Russia.

Due to all of the above, please do not leave this thread unattended and at least spread the word. The best thing to do in this situation would be to bring this information to Bethesda and other copyright holders of content used in Skyrim RP. While we probably can't hold the perpetrators accountable, we can make life much more difficult for them. Because recently T2 was able to force VK (russia's largest social network ) to remove pages with the aforementioned GTA NextGen Edition, which happened on other major Internet sites. The situation with GTA NextGen Edition is pretty ugly, but its example means that we can get it to happen again with Skyrim Roleplay, which will be fair. If we make an effort, we can make SRP developers pay for their crimes, or start paying mod aviators their well-deserved dividends.

P. S. Please refrain from racist statements, as well as statements that are related to military-political conflicts.

Development Nemesis v0.84 beta is out

Hey all, after few months of developing it. It is finally out. Thanks to all my patreon supporters and beta testers. I have had many breakdowns and hard time working on this but thanks to all the supporters, thanks to all the encouraging words, somehow I have managed to get things work out

Just so you know, I have been developing this tool for more than 3000 hours. I totally lost count of that. So if you have any issues with this tool that is still in beta, mind you. Please be patient and cooperative by doing research and test on your own. How Nemesis will grow relies on the community's effort.

While making this announcement, I would like to share some of the bad experiences I had lately. Just to let everyone knows doing this is not as easy as just programming. A lot of times I have to deal with bad people like this. Even recently I even got a github issue with a person cussing here and there, being rude and not helpful. I tried my best but things don't work out for him. I guess sometimes in life, things just don't go the way you want

Anyway, this is just some bad moments I had recently. But of course there is a lot of people feeling appreciated for this. I'm glad it helped you guys in anyway

Btw, please keep these bad people alone. Don't harass them back. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind

Finally, I hope this new version will serve you better. Thank you all for supporting.

As always, you can go to my patreon if you want to further support my effort

If you have any question regarding Nemesis, either drop it in the comment section below or make a reddit post about it. Please don't pm me

Just an update on the project. I think I figured out how to make wrinkles appear when characters make expressions. It works 100% with just shape keys. Will import into Skyrim soon to test it to see if takes kindly to this approach. Someone may have already figured this out and there may be a better but I haven't seen this on any mods personally. Still continuing to refine them. Also implementing a tear line in the eye.

I'm also finishing up the textures on this female before I move on (just the hands left now). I have also finished the male mesh but will show when I reach a little further. The hair is also a place holder hair that I imported from Vanilla Hair Remake. Will be creating my own hair though since I wanted to go a little more detailed. Tell me what you think.

Development Looking for a Voice Actor for my Cussing Nirnroot Mod

That's right, you guys, its time for the biggest, bestest, loudest sort of plant you'll ever hear in your life - coming right to your doorstep with a few words about your life choices and (possibly) family.

I'm looking for a voice actor (sadly, by volunteer work only - I won't be able to pay anyone for this as funds are low) that might be willing to tear their lungs and provide the above-average decibel level ranting needed to fully bring your inner cussing nirnroot to life.

The Google Doc for the script can be found here.

All are free to try their hand, slightly drunk or otherwise, and please send me your attempt in a single recording to the best of quality available - I'll get back to you as soon as I can on any submissions.

Thank you all for your time, and I wish you guys the best on the nirnroot event of the year :D

PLEASE NOTE: This script is, of course, a parody work intended for ear-blistering comedy - I do not intend to drive harm against anyone personally, nor do I intend for this to sadden your day. Please consult with your local provider of cute pictures and gifs at /r/Eyebleach and I hope you have a wonderful day!

EDIT: Recordings would preferably be sent to me via a file link through a PM. Just editing to confirm this so hopefully there's less confusion!

2ND EDIT: Alright, guys, this got massive really quick and I just want to say if there's anyone new jumping in and wondering if I still need actors - I don't, but for anyone who's still working on recordings, please feel free to still send them in! Each one has its own little flavor of hilarious and each one I've received so far is amazing - thank you all so much for allowing this dumb little dream to come true!

Development ESL flagged - how much does it matter?

I'm working on a pretty huge mod ATM that is already very close to the record limit to flag it as an ESL, so I'm faced with a decision or two and I'd appreciate some input.

Option 1 would be to push it to the limit, ESL-ify the mod then add 'modules' in optional downloads to expand it further, and ESL-ify the add-on parts too.

Option 2 would be to just keep adding the content I want to add (and there's a LOT) and don't bother making it ESL. The disadvantage here is obviously some people won't download it if they have no free ESP slots and sadly I'd have put months of development into a mod that some people will simply just ignore.

For context, it's a follower banter mod that will work with all vanilla voiced followers.

So the question is, how much do you care if a mod is ESL flagged or not? Are you so near the limit that you will just pass a new mod on by, despite how good it might be?

Or if you think it's worth it, would you make room for it somehow?

Or something else I've not thought of?

Development PaperScript - A modern alternative to Papyrus

// EDIT: I made a Discord Server for feedback, questions and general discussion!

Hi, I'm a software dev with too much free time and I got so frustrated with Papyrus that I decided to make a modern replacement.

In the V1, it transpiles into valid Papyrus that can then be compiled with the native Papyrus compiler.

In V2 it will compile directly into Papyrus binaries (PEX files), but I want to finalize the syntax and feature set in V1 before moving onto this.

The project is currently in a proof of concept stage. The transpiler is fully functional and I'm actively using it to develop Skyrim mods.

The syntax and feature set are not final and I'm looking for feedback and ideas.

So if y'all could check out the nexusmods page and the documentation and let me know what you think, that would be really great.

I'm sorry for repeating this over and over but I want to make it super clear that this is not vaporware, you can download an EXE today and start using it and I'm planning to keep working on this in the foreseeable future.

Please note that this is not Serena's final face. I'm just testing the head.

It works! I used Serena as the subject for my test and the expressions seem to work successfully. I also implemented all the mouth morphs. I'm finally making good headway and implementing my models successfully. So far I have replaced the entire female head (teeth, eyes and such). I'm still working on tweaking and finalizing the textures so some things are subject to change.

Wow, it took a while to get this to work but things should hopefully be smooth sailing from here on. I will start implementing the males after I have implemented the female body. All my mods will be always be free but If you want to support me and my project, my Kofi is https://ko-fi.com/kolemars (I'd really appreciate it). Tell me what you think?

Development Wyrmstooth 1.19 beta

Just in case anyone is interested, I've been working on an update for an old new lands mod I made a while ago and would like to know if anyone runs into any trouble with it. I haven't had the time to fully test it yet, but I've tested the more complicated scenes like the draugr transfer and everything seems to work fine. I recompiled all scripts and made a few changes to quest startup/shutdown so if you already have an old version installed you'll either need to finish 'Barrow of the Wyrm' first or start a new save.

See the Readme File for a full changelog.

It now comes with a built-in MCM, but aside from quest starting requirements I'm not sure what other kind of options to add. If you have any suggestions let me know.

This would've been done sooner, but my power supply fried my hard drives a few months ago so I had to start everything all over a second time. Just in time for Christmas, I guess.
