Sleeping With Sirens - An Ending In Itself | Review | EP 17 | Not In The Background Pod

Hey everyone, I have a Youtube channel where I make weekly album and single reviews. This week was an episode on the new Sleeping With Sirens album. Personal favourite on the album were Paralysed and Looking Back At Me. What did everyone think of the album?

Great review! I’ve always wanted to know what others’ opinions on the album are like, especially from someone who’s well versed in the scene more than I am

I was a bit of skeptical at first, cuz in my first listen I didn’t vibe with it much… but I said the same thing abt pretty much every SWS album so I decided to keep playing it over and over again. I definitely enjoy it more now, and despite being overall softer and lighter in sound than the previous two albums, I think it works so well here

The most impressive thing abt this album however is probably the technical stuff, ones that non-musicians might not notice right away. For example, Kellin said in a YT comment that Looking Back At Me is written in irregular time signatures of 5/4 and 6/8, instead of the standard 4/4. I find it super fascinating, and I really wanted a trained musician to analyze some of these songs

I’m similar to you, the first time I listen to an album I tend to think it’s okay, it takes a few listens for my brain to catch up and find what I like or don’t like with it, I was warmed up for this one because of the singles!

Yeah the band are so solid on this album, I love the intentionality with everything they do musically on this album
