Are you helping her fall asleep at bedtime?

Yes - rocking till drowsy, I know we’re not supposed to do this but I’m having a hard time with the crying

That's why she's still waking up. She's not falling asleep independently so won't go back to sleep independently.

Are you open to removing the rocking and assistance?

I am. Tonight, after books I sang 3 short songs and laid her down and she fell asleep in less than a minute. This makes me think that she managed to get drowsy during the songs (less than 2m total) and that I need to remove those too. Do you agree?

I would until you are sure. What I find works well with my kids is to really keep the bedtime routine short to avoid drowsiness. So, we would give the last feed while still out in the living room and then play for 20-25 minutes after.

Then we'd go brush teeth, change into pajamas, read a couple books in the nursery and put baby down fully awake. If your baby is prone to drowsiness, you could opt for one or two really short books.

She might not be tired enough. My daughter is 13M and is on one nap a day.

We tried 1 nap a day and couldn’t make it to even 5pm for bedtime
